  1. I have the In-Fisherman Master Anglers for walleye and muskie, but like someone else said feel too strange to wear them. Since I couldn't wear them out, I haven't sent in for them since and have scored fish that qualify for it for black crappie, bluegill, more walleyes and muskie. I did notice that some of the state master angler programs are easier than some of the other programs. But it's cool and lets you set some goals to go for. I think the coolest thing with master anglers is the kids categories. Here in Minnesota it's easy to get a kid a master angler and if you get them enough their name goes on the wall at the fishing hall of fame. I wish I had known that when my oldest was younger. He's a fishing addict and I am sure we would have gotten him into more than enough big fish. If you look the bass only have to break 16 inches for kids, but is 21 inches for adult. Oh well, you live and learn. But he loves fishing, so he has the bug. Now that's a bug worth sharing..
  2. AWESOME!! It is really a great thing to have resources and the depth of knowledge that Bass Resource has. AND NOW, the Professor... WOW.. I know I am very glad to have some way to ask questions of such great anglers and bass people as are here. Thanks Glenn and We're very Glad to have Doug, the Professor on board.. It is a real pleasure to have Doug here. Man the brain is over whelmed, I'll have to take a while to put forward a good question.
  3. We also run a bass fishing league and are a "not for profit". I just wanted to say it is AWESOME that sites help connect anglers and spread the fishing sport. This is what we all need to be doing to help get more generations involved in fishing. Thanks...
  4. We are more of a learning league than a money league, but some teams like paying something, so they feel the drive to show up each week. In the end its about fishing. We have had the same discussions about how much is to be shared. It really comes down to the anglers since they could just give you a bad story that sounds good. And how do you really know? You don't. So what we have come up with is that the winners must share the technique, lures, baits, etc. and describe the location fished. For example, shallow wood in mucky back bays in 3-5 ft of water, keys being cabbage and sand. That means that no one can just go beat up their spot, but gives you the technique and enough to find our own spots. In the end we are all learning a lot more and fishing a lot more. I don't know what the answer is for your group, but this has worked for us for 8 years and the teams love it and are all learning every year from each other and time on the water. It shows in their scores, numbers of fish caught and in the end, we are all winning. The important part, is that no team feels burnt by working years for a good spot, then being forced to lie or give it up. Hey if they are seen fishing it, someone will try the spot, but we all run that risk everytime we choose to fish a spot in a tournament anyway. Our goal is always to keep people fishing, learning and having fun. I am sure yours is too. Good luck and great fishing.
  5. I think it's a GREAT idea. You can just go out fishing and have fun. If you want to set up rules, etc. you can borrow ours and make them any way you want. You can find our info just type "Duluth Fishing League" into any search engine and you'll find us. I have fished our fishing leagues two years with my son, and we made it to the top 5 each time and he's hooked. It can become a bit difficult with the competition and juices flowing, so be sure you go into it to just be together and try to keep that in mind on the stressful nights. I know we had nights he had to net all night and got frustrated, but hey we won. And he had the same opportunities and learned from each of those nights. Now he is going to fish the leagues with a friend. So it was all worth it. Family fishing leagues would be awesome. Go for it...
