  1. When it comes to ultra light u don't really have to base the action off hooks because even a fast will bend like a mh mod-fast to moderate and a moderate ul bends like a complete (u) at least in my experience and depending on brands. They are not very technique specific like bass fishing so when choosing one go with the moderate action for the most part it cast lighter lures farther and the large bend in he rod helps cushion the light 2-4pld line if u hook into a bigger fish like a bass
  2. I have been doing this for quite some time now most think I'm crazy when I tell them what I'm using on the water. I like to use a ul with a 500fd shimano 2pld nanofill with a 2pld mono leader then I tie on a 100th oz jig with an impulse mayfly. I have seemed to slay panfish with his technique cuz of the super slow fall and tiny presentation even with the small casting distance.
  3. Pliers are good to have
  4. so it sounds that the rebel is usable for panfish too I'm huge on panfish also
  5. Also just fishing a dam works well
  6. Sweet the pond and lake I fish don't have much more than the hydilla to pitch into would this be to light for punching per se
  7. Sweet ill jump on it then Also I'm new here how long does a thread stay open
  8. I want to get a rod for light pitching and jigs I was looking at st croix. I have heard They are heavier than other brands. When I when into gander mountain recently I held one and it seems to be pretty accurate so my question is it enough power?
  9. Yeah I figured I haven't tryed it yet just hit me as a possibility but wanted to ask before I did so I didn't look like a butt head on the water
  10. Yeah ul is fun I recently sight fished a carp it hit a ul raphal(weird ik) but he sucked it up and I set the hook it was super fun ended up being a 6pld carp it took me 14 mins to get him in I timed it lol
  11. Ok thanks guys I'm not a big topwater person I only like buzzbaits so scince i found this little guy I thought I would mes around with it.
  12. Reason I ask is I found one In my brothers old tacklebox and it's the small 3/16 size and I can cast it on my medium spinning rod but I think better distance can be achieved than what I'm getting I'm using 6pld spiderwire ultracast what do u think I can do to somewhat put this lure to better use
  13. I was wondering if anyone has done this with some good results
  14. Lol I bet the big deep divers give you popeye arms
  15. Really that's cool I got to grab a pack never really tried them just heard some good stuff about em
  16. X2 for this really good idea actually to get a frog specific rod, a mh extra fast or heavy fast depending if u are throwing hollow or solid body frogs
  17. Ahh ok cuz I ended up fishing so much this summer I got trigger finger in my right ring finger
  18. Yeah they are pretty good They seem to really target smallies i want to give these a try I know u can put a nail weight in the front so it falls away from you
  19. Yeah at least they are not tearing hooks out of the guy just strait killing the fish
  20. Ahh Ahh here in Chicago it's a little difficult to atv to places lol
  21. lol I probably could have made a better topic but I wanted to know how many other people have this happen. I've been catch odd stuff in the river eyes, missing back missing, tail missing.
  22. Yeah I see where ur coming from with having a rod for everything but it's more of a luxury and for me I probably fish similar bodies of water, ponds and nearby lakes that he normally would I assume he is biking and carrying 2-3 rods. At a time Also there's only so many actions and powers. I always considered length an opinion but can help (Ex. Shorter than 7' is preferred for jerks and tops 7'6" is preferred for flipping and pitching) so I'm pretty sure his spinning setup can be use for shaky head and drop shot maybe make a dedicated rod for the ones he likes or try to throw something like a ned rig and If u Iike it or see yourself using it a lot then go for specialized rod, but having a rod that's not one sided always seemed as a bonus to me I also noticed u asked me about the lower amount of bearings shimano uses high quality bearings and high quality gearing allowing for smoother reels with less bearing expectant when u get something like a citica or curado with x-ship makes it very smooth
  23. Yeah I go for tubes myself but now I want to give the 3" senkos a try I always see them at bps
