  1. my favorite is the owner weedless sniper neko in size 1 or 1/0. impossible to find right now. my second favorite is the vmc weedless neko.
  2. another vote for the fish monkey stubby. they seem to last about 3 years for me.
  3. didnt watch the video, dont need to. i use braid to flouro on 80% of my spinning tackle and its always worked fine for me.
  4. they arent cheap but in the clear pressured waters i fish the bassman spinnerbaits have been dynamite the last few years. get some clouds and wind and let them fly.
  5. i know this may sound crazy but mine was doing that one day. it was driving me nuts. then i looked very closely and there was a tiny pebble stuck in the peddle that wouldnt let it pop up.
  6. it can be used all year and is actually quite effective in summer. its main purpose is fishing rocky structure. shell beds, rock piles etc. example a long mud point that maybe has a steep section where the channel sweeps in alot of times there will be rock and gravel there.the wider head keeps it from getting snagged in the cracks and crevices as easy. its is also usually retrieved more with a drag with constant bottom contact more than a hop and drop. i love a 3/4 oz football jig in summer when our fish get 30 feet or so deep.
  7. yes reins bubbling shaker sits nicely horizontal also xzone slammers and finesse worms as well as grande bass airtail wiggler.
  8. we fish deep grass around here ALOT. swim jig to cover water. also belly weighted swimbait.my favorite way is to locate areas where the grass bumps up against hard bottom, rocks gravel etc. or those things cause holes in the deep grass edge. put a jig or worm down there on them.another favorite is a 5/8 or 3/4 jig get it down into the grass along the deep edge yank it out and let it freefall back in. gets reaction bites.
  9. i listen to all these and more from time to time. BTL is daily listening on my drive home.
  10. yeah thats kind of what im saying, can i afford a 100k dollar boat? probably not. i can certainly afford 60k though ... and theres still no way im paying that.
  11. i dont feel like the cost is out of line i mean thats alot of money but when i got out of high school in 1987 30k was alot for a new ranger. its probably about the same ratio now with inflation higher salaries value of the dollar etc. i certainly dont care how anyone else spends their money either . i just mean for me theres no way im spending that much money on a hobby. no matter how much i love it.i dont know that my skills or the quality of fishing in my area justifies it.everybody is different some people dont mind being in debt up to their eyeballs. and alot of the guys with those boats and trucks may not be idk. but i like knowing when my bills are paid i have some money for savings every month for emergencies and i put 15percent of my pay in 401k etc. hopefully guys arent buying those rigs at the expense of their future, because as someone who has spent alot of time in state run nursing homes as part of my job that is not the place you want to be.
  12. 1/8 3/16 1/4 bitsy bug depending on current and depth. also the kietech football head in 1/4 and greenfish tackle itty bitty in 5/16
  13. if i paid anywhere near that much money for something i cant live in or dont absolutely need to put food on the table and money in the bank i wouldnt be able to sleep at night.doesnt mean other people shouldnt but not for me. 100k to catch some fish and throw them back?nope not for this cheapskate.lol
  14. i cant help you with the nrx but i have the expride b 72ml. its agreat dropshot rod. soft tip but gets into a solid backbone pretty quick. in sure the nrx is better but i feel like you reach a point of diminishing returns. like im sure the nrx is better but twice as good? idk
  15. 1/0 roboworm rebarb light wire for 4 inch worms. owner cover shot 2/0 for 6 inch
  16. anchoring is a lost art. our lakes are fairly deep right of the bank in alot of cases. i have spot lock but talons do you no good in15 or 20 feet. if its windy i find i can position beyyer and cause less disturbance by anchoring than using spot lock. for true control 3 anchors are really beneficial.
  17. ok heres a question i have.in a scenario like that above, obviously if you can find a rock piile brush pile etc on those points you would have prime habitat. what if they were fairly bare? maybe just some scattered rock. are they still good fish holding structures?
  18. ill see what i can do. ( computer moron) mine is actually a 1754 jon that i customized with front and rear aluminum decks, rod locker, tackle storage etc.
  19. alot of electric lakes around here. i run the torqueedo 4.0 . 48 volt system pushes my 17ft tracker at about 6.5 mph. i run it at about 5.5 and i can fish 12 hours without running out of juice. they will run on lead acid but i upgraded to lithium this year and saved 450 pounds. performance id better too. the have a readout that tells you how much power your using and how many hours you have left at that speed.alot of guys are running the 8 and 10s. they get 12 mph or so but cost over 10 k with lithium batteries.ive been seeing some of the newport vessels ones the last couple years and performance is similar and guys seem to be happy with them.
  20. i would also like to locate irregularities in grass beds hard spots in the grass edge etc. im sure if it shows fish it shows these as well
  21. as you can see lots of ways to rig them. my favorite is a weedless football head and texas. i dont think the reason your not getting bit is how your rigging, its where and when your throwing it.
  22. thats good . i have all birds and would like to stay with them just for simplicity.
  23. i do have humminbird graphs and minn kota trolling motor. i know most people say that garmin has better image quality. if i went humminbird i would buy a seperate head so i could run my gps and still have a full screen. has the image quality improved since the update? im pretty familiar with the lakes i fish so i know where alot of the goodies are.As we all know grass is ever changing but im sure i can locate dips points etc in grass with the live and then cast to them. with the added bonus of seeing fish.
  24. ok even though i dont like the idea of it it may be time to get a forward facing sonar. i know abouy catching fish in brush piles , suspended etc. however our lakes have alot of grass. The fish also like to use hard gravel spots next to deep grass lines etc. so i guess my question is how good id livescope at seeing those hard spots next to grass, grass lines themselves etc. do brighter returns indicate hard bottom like down imaging? i was gonna buy 360 but i hear guys say you can get all the advantages of 360 with live plus the extra capabilities. also im a humminbird guy but am kind of leaning towards garmin. what are your opinions on the 3 options?
  25. after taking a closer look at the map, the little section down by the dam looks like a highland reservoir might. steeper banks, less shallow flats ,extended points etc.regardless of what you want to call it in the middle section you see some nice juicy channel swings, two nice drains running up int a large spawning cove.A submerged road bed running along the steep side of a point etc.several interesting things to check out.
