  1. smoke grubs and tubes can be dynamite in clear water.smoke purple is probably my number1 tube color.but I don't want the ones that are too dark.i want them nice and translucent with the purple flake in them.
  2. same thing really just how you fish it. although if im fishing it more aggressively I tend to like the xrap more, youll just have to vary your retrieve to see what they like that day.
  3. this is the biggest issue with a lot of people fishing the ned.you have to use a light jig head. the light head and small hook will come through a lot of snags. too heavy or too big of a hook and it buries in.same with grass , the light head and small hook will settle almost on top of the grass you just pop it off and often that's when the fish will bite. also this isn't always a drag the bottom technique.ned swims and barely ticks bottom a lot when he fishes he doesn't drag bottom like a shakeyhead.
  4. my favorite lake is closed for boat launching. I think because the launch is run by the county which has minimal staff. good news is all state park facilities are closed but hiking trails and boat ramps are open
  5. ive fished loomis great rods no doubt but I have to say I feel you get more value for your money with st.croix than any rod out there. just my opinion for whatever that's worth.
  6. I fish 90% st Croix rods. ltb's mostly. st.croix tends to fish a little heavy go with the medium light I think youll find it perfect. I fish the same rod that bluebasser does.
  7. you guys are talking about 2 different things.they both work.if you do a lot of research and reading on ned and his rig he does say that the true technique never uses over a 1/10 head and doesn't have alof of bottom contact. the lure hits bottom sometimes but doesn't stay there long. ned is not overly concerned with the bait standing upright on bottom, he likes the elaztech material because of its buoyancy while swimming. however it is true that a trd on a heavier head dragged on bottom will catch a lot of fish but its not true ned rig fishing as he defines it.
  8. I think for the size lakes your talking about that would work fine. Also surprisingly the bigger wider boats are usually faster from the tests we've done. Has something to do with the way they displace water. Also the more weight you get up front the faster you'll go.
  9. Yeah I mean I fish with guys on our lakes who have 25 k wrapped up in electric only boats.but then those lakes are a couple thousand acres. I run 4,volt batteries and an 80#motor. I can fish wherever I want but it takes a while to get there.thats ok because I usually have several spots to fish in one creek arm etc,and I like to fish slow
  10. Catt is correct a modv offers no advantage even though that's what I have. Our electric lakes around here are very large and guys run all sorts of special motors ray torqueedo etc.for lakes the size your fishing a 55pound motor will push you fine.also if your using a bow mount it will push you in an emergency
  11. You don't hear about them much anymore but they are still DYNAMITE on cool and.cold water bass. We fish the smoke or avocado color on an 1/8-1/4 ounce ball head jig and hammer fish in late fall ,winter ,early spring.if your around heavy cover fish then on one of the Ned heads with the little wire weedgaurd.I love the fact that a lot of people don't use them anymore, fish don't see them much.
  12. Save your money this winter and get the imx.you won't regret it and unless your fishing really thick cover and big baits the 3 power is really great
  13. yes current and current breaks. don't fool with the deeper slower stuff much. youll be surprised how shallow smallmouth will be in summer as long as theres current , a little cover and food.
  14. Wacky rig senkos, flukes , grubs tubes shallow diving cranks 4inch worms paddletail swimbaits.use Colors to imitate minnows and crayfish and throw in a wild color here and there. Smallies sometimes react to chartreuse and bubblegum.
  15. yes as a couple other have said a gentle sweep hook set works best.dont hammer them like a worm set , just sweep or raise the rod like a wacky rig set.
  16. I've been able to hit the lakes in my boat between the rains but my true love is summer kayak fishing on the Susquehanna.last year I went twice because the river was flooded most of the summer.on June 19 it will be a year since I've been on the river.not looking good the next.couple.of weeks either.
  17. yes like jfrancho said that is a khale hook.you can set the hook with that style but a hard hookset is not needed. just reel in the slack and sweep smoothly not violently either to the side or up.
  18. Idk what the color is called but the brown craw colored back with the chartreuse belly has always been great for me in the Susquehanna and potomac . Series 100 &200
  19. Switch to the fusion hook but also set hook like a circle hook.that style hook with a short neck/shank does t respond well to a hard book just lift and reel or sweep smoothly and reel.
  20. like bluebasser said right after the shad or bluegill spawn when theyre seeing a lot of small fish a 2.8 on a jig head can be dynamite.
  21. Legend tournament drop shot rod 6foot 10 inch med lt extra.fast.
  22. I have the legend tournament 610 mlf and the 610mxf. the mlf is my favorite for smallmouth with drop shot wacky rigs small swimbaits etc.the medium gets used for flukes shakey heads etc anything texas rigged I like the medium exposed hook the med light.
  23. the answer is simple next time your on a good senko bite with your regular colors put a pink one on and keep fishing.or do the opposite when they seem only mildly interested in your regular colors put a pink one or some other bright color and try it. ive done that and had them start hammering the bright one. ive also done it and seen no major difference.
  24. I usually throw some sort of green pumpkin or watermelon but I will always give a wild cor like bubblegum a shot.sometimes those bright colors crank them up.also last year I was using a bait called a pocket rocket from reaction innovations.it's like a senko but has a skinny middle and bulbed ends, color was called dirty Sanchez kind of a green pumpkin top with chartreuse bottom.they killed it!
