  1. its a time situation. i can cover more water and hopefully find some active fish with the power presentations. if i slow down with finesse then i wont get to cover as many spots. now if im convinced there are fish where im fishing i will slow down with a dropshot ned etc. however i will say with the amount of bait in our water relying on a feeding bite in summer is tough. sometimes you need to upsize your bait and make it move to get a reaction bite.
  2. ive been thinking of spooling 2 identical outfits (which i have ) one with fluoro one with mono and trying to tell under real fishing scenarios if i can tell a difference, thats the only way im gonna answer the question in my mind.
  3. ive had the same thing twice over the years bowhunting. once a hawk and once an owl. when i saw them they had their feet stretched out like they were gonna land on me.veered off at the last second.
  4. magic eraser will clean it pretty well if it really needs it. i dont protect or clean mine much. all that build up from fish slime sweat etc is where the good mojo comes from!
  5. lol i may take you up on that. your area is one i would strongly consider. in all seriousness i work in a hospital in a clinical capacity. i see way too many people in their early sixties end up on my table. if im lucky enough to be healthy at 65 im out.
  6. ah if only we could get our hands on some of them.
  7. i use them with a 1/16 ounce weight when fishing a fluke in current. may take away a slight bit of action but i have to get it down before the current takes it away and i catch a ton of fish on them in the susquehanna river every year.
  8. winter sucks.i swear when i retire and im not working past65 if i have to live in a tent, im moving south.
  9. different perspectives.lol. my water is hard. id kill for 50 degree water.
  10. i use the adrenaline craw as the water warms on a jig. also works well on a chatterbait , texas rigged, and on a swing head very versatile bait. the muscle back i use in colder water on a jig. also on a football head when im dragging.
  11. yeah i once read an article that said bass only feed 2 hours a day. who knows if thats true but it only makes sense that they spend more time not feeding than feeding.
  12. im the opposite. i wanna see the live stuff. i wanna see it as it happens with raw emotion. i still watch the slick produced MLF stuff because im a fishing addict but live is where its at for me.
  13. yeah i gotta agree. that bait catches em . frittside 9 is good too.
  14. i used to not be much on cranking. then my buddy won 3 of our local tournaments on 2 real tough lakes in the dead of summer on cranks.he said look man the fish are here in the spots we are fishing. but theres so much bait they dont eat til they feel like it. you have to make them eat out of reaction. i cant argue, hes got the money and the trophies.
  15. yes get a bigger reel with a larger spool. it will cast further,2500 or 3000
  16. go to bassmaster.com . you can stream the live coverage there. i do it at work on my phone.lol
  17. whatever. hes gotta make a living like the rest of us. the guys that can catch em can catch em on anything. just like archery. these guys switch brands all the time and they still shoot better than the rest of us.
  18. i watch both when i can. i mean its fishing and im an addicted fish head. i tend to focus on BASS more but probably jus because thats what i grew up with and i enjoy the history of it.MLF does kind of confuse me sometimes though, i mean its stage four knock out round weights zero but sometimes they dont , its a cup event but one group fishes one day another group the next... wth man im just a fishing junkie with a full time job . i cant keep this all straight. but its all good . guys catching bass while im working. a distraction.
  19. long and light especially for the marabou. like 7foot 4 or 7 foot 6. i think stcroix and diawa make rods for them.
  20. im picking knits here but i prefer a fast for jigs and xf for texas rigs but ill use a fast also. the reason i want a little more tip for jigs is with the heavy jig and the weight stationary when the fish jump and shake their head they seem to throw that heavy weight a little easier with the stiffer tip.
  21. yes ive seen smallmouth inhale a craw crush it spit it out and inhale it again in the blink of an eye. if you feel a sharp tap on a jig then it goes slack, leave it there an alot of times they will grab it again a second or so later.
  22. dont keep bass. ever. i will keep crappie bluegill and perch during the spawn. i only keep about 20 of each every year. just what im gonna eat. dont load the freezer.
  23. faster tip means the action is in a shorter section of the rod. say like the first 3 guides down from the tip. where a slower action has more flexability further down the blank.and yes dobyns are typically have a slower softer tip than alot of others. at least in the shampion line.
  24. i use a 72 heavy expride for jigs most of the time.medium heavy will work i just like a heavy for jigs with heavy wire hooks.
  25. exactly catt. guys are probably fishing where the fish used to be. we see the same thing around here. hopefully the grass comes back.
