  1. Good question. I'm pretty clueless when it comes to this stuff. It just striked the curiosity in me so figured I would ask here. I would think most of the company's have a plan in place or at least studied it.
  2. I guess I didn't phrase my question like I should of. I didn't fully understand the jest of the ban either. I thought it was a public ban, I didn't catch The federal part of it until someone mentioned it about. I guess I should've asked in the tackle making section I was trying to stay out of the political part of it and wanted to find out how costly it would be on the smaller guys to make a switch over to a different materiel if they had too? I guess I should of just asked that question without bringing up the ban. Thanks for all the replys so far.
  3. On his way out of office Obama put a ban on lead in all fishing lures and tackle with a complaint date of 2022. It looks to effect a large chunk of everything we use. My question isn't so much how it'll effect the angler as far as having to replace our lures and tackle but how it effects the little manufacturers. Will they be able to make a switch over without going belly up? Or will we all be stuck throwing a select few companies products?
  4. My aetos spinning rod from ffo arrived this past Friday and I was able to use it yesterday and caught a couple average size largemouth on it. I'll tell you it was the best 88 dollars I've spent in a very long time. Super light with some really nice sensitivity. I also have a HMG I picked up earlier this year. It's an extremely high quality rod as well. You can't go wrong with Fenwick and with a lifetime warranty you should jump on getting one.
  5. I love the red shad for dirty water and tequila for less dirty water both original 6 inch. I've caught a lot of fish over the years on them Texas rigged 1/8 ounce. I remember Bryan Kerchal won the Bassmaster classic with the red shad. http://www.bassmaster.com/news/flashback-kerchals-classic-win
  6. I think I'll get the highest quality Fenwick or St. Croix rod and either a Daiwa or Pflueger reel that TW puts on sale and fits in my 250ish budget. I might go up to 300. I doubt I can go wrong with those four options. I'll let you guys know what I end up snagging.
  7. I've recently discovered TW. Looking like they'll probably be getting the bulk of my business. I'm guessing they run a holiday sale? I can hold out until then to see what kind of deal I can land since I still have a couple of my old Allstar's and team Daiwa reels to hold me over until then. In the meantime I might take the hour drive to my closest Cabelas to get a feel for the rods in person and then see what TW puts on sale. I appreciate everyone's response.

  9. Hello everyone. After roughly 10 years of being out of fishing due to a family issue and having to sell my bass boat to pay some unexpected bills I've got back into it this summer. I just have a small bench seat style aluminum boat that I've been getting out on some small lakes in my area. Not the best thing to fish out of but I'm just glad to be back at it. I'm looking to get a new spinning rod setup to throw my favorite 1/8 jig. I was always an Allstar rod guy and loved them back in the day but it appears that they were bought out and don't produce the same quality rods anymore. I don't have any experience fishing other brands. Always was a Daiwa reel fan but I'm willing to consider other brands since my overall budget for the rod and reel is $250. I've done plenty of research and I'm leaning towards either the ML 6'9" Fenwick HMG or the ML 6'10" St. Croix Mojo. I'm open to suggestions though. For the real I'm digging the Pflueger supreme xt in 3000 size and the Daiwa procyn ex in 2500 size. Again I'm open to suggestions. Looking forward to hearing everyone's experiences with these rods and reels. Thanks in advance.
