I'd go with the Garmin Striker Plus 7SV. You can get one for $400-500. This unit does not have mapping but you can create your own maps.

In that price range look at Garmin Striker. You get it all, but you have to map your only lakes which isn't hard to do for the budget minded angler like myself.

What a crazy few days! Finally got moved in at the lake house and we're pooped! Thankfully we moved Friday because we woke up to about 5 inches of the white stuff and the temps didn't get above 15 and it's currently 10.

It is crazy how eerily quiet a snow storm is. No birds, no people, no wind, just quiet....and the ringing in my ears. Friday is the big move to the lake, the weather doesn't look bad until late Friday so we should be good. Next week I'm hoping the weatherman is dead wrong. Heavy wet snow = no fun!

Well it looks like winter is quickly moving in. We got freezing drizzle today, school was cancelled. Friday night we're looking at around 5 inches and a high of 12 Sunday. Then the prediction for the end of next week 10 inches for us and up to 28 inches for @A-Jay! Of course this is only predictions at this point and anything can happen over the next 10 days, but jeez that's a ton of snow.

For me we've come full circle with the thread about new members reviving old threads. I've never seen this thread and found it very interesting and I'm glad it was revived! Thank you!

I no longer go. The reason being is it's one big flea market nowadays. There's a sonar seminar I'd like to attend, that's about it. The Novi, MI boat show was last week and guys like KVD, Zona, and Mark Martin go there because it's just outside of Detroit. No one comes to the Grand Rapids show. Most of the fishing stuff they sell is off brand crap or over priced. Novi is almost three hours away for me and if I wanted to drive that far for a couple seminars I'll drive two hours to KVD's brother's store Easter weekend when he gets his brother, Zona, Skeet, and a couple other big names for the weekend. I do miss the roasted almonds at the shows though. ?
