  1. I use the cardboard from a roll of toilet paper, put it on my drill, and the old line is off my reels in no time flat.
  2. Nah, he’s out using these new hooks. 😉
  3. On my way to work a couple days ago I came upon a guy who just hit a deer. As I’m slowly driving by I look over at the deer on the side of the road and noticed it had antlers! I’ve never seen a buck with antlers this late. Anyone seen deer with antlers this time of the year?
  4. I’m willing to bet the car won’t start because the carburetor is…..flooded.
  5. While these hooks are new to the American market, they’re not new. These hooks have been put through the tests and available to the anglers in Japan for a while now. The property coating not only allows for better hook penetration, but it has 4x the corrosion resistance of other hooks including the hooks they’ve had available to us here in the US. Like @Bluebasser86 said the price is still the same. So, we have the same price, same quality hooks we’ve all used, same sharp points, and now with the added coating, we have better hook penetration, and 4x the corrosion resistance. For you lure makers, they have hooks available for you too!
  6. I read somewhere else that Helix was being discontinued, which would make sense. They have Helix, Solix, and Apex. Do they need three models?
  7. Sounds like a pretty sweet gig @T-Billy!
  8. #2 no doubt about it.
  9. I’ve worked outside almost me entire adult life. I’m not a fan of either of those temps. If I had to pick one I’d probably take 10* that caveat to that is no wind! You factor wind into that and you’re done. A dry 95* and a steady breeze wouldn’t be terrible. Through in humidity and no wind, heck no! You can dress for the cold. When it comes to the heat, there’s only so many clothes you can legally take off. 😁
  10. @TnRiver46 I was being serious. I couldn’t. It’s pretty much in their DNA to be the caretaker, nurturer, and so on. Don’t get me started on child birth! NOPE!
  11. It’s an exhibition fight so it’ll be a dud. Neither are hurting for money just looking for a little extra cash.
  12. Even if everything were equal I couldn’t be a woman.
  13. @Eric 26 it’s all about location location location. There’s another variable in there too that we won’t get into. There’s a changing tide in my area that’s heading towards the trade. Parents are trying to teach their kids to learn from their mistakes. I’m not against college one bit. Like with my son, whatever he decides to do, you have to be strategic in the path you choose.
  14. The trades are not dwindling one bit! There are a lot of people who are waking up and smelling the coffee. You don’t need $100k in college debt to make a good living. It took me until I was 25 and a kid on the way to get my head on my shoulders and it still took another 6-7 years to work my way up. Knowing what I know now I could’ve been there by 25. Also knowing what I know now I’m pushing my son towards the trades especially a lineman. $15k in schooling and making $100k plus a year with dam good benefits is a no brainer. There have been a couple examples of some who went to college for a certain degree to go on to something else and left with a mountain of debt. We can all learn from others mistakes and I hope my son does and cuts his hardships in half.
  15. Work it girl!
  16. Proctologist around the world made them change the name because they already had it.
  17. I’ve used Gamakatsu for around 20 years and they’ve yet to let me down. I have no reason to try anything else.
  18. I started working at the local lumberyard doing sales at the ripe old age of 14. I did that through high school along with roofing and siding. After high school I went to college for residential design. I came to an abrupt end after six weeks when I was diagnosed with cancer which turns out to be ok because I can’t see myself being stuck indoors working. After all that mess I back to the lumberyard for a bit. After that I got into HVAC. While there I did a plumbing apprenticeship until the master was fired. I loved doing plumbing and wish I would’ve went somewhere else and stuck with it. From there I did construction until the housing market crash. With a child on the way and being laid off I needed to find a consistent job so I got into the utility locating business. I worked my way up the ladder to operations manager through two companies. After 13 years and company one bought the company I left company one to go to I knew I needed to get out. I left there to go to my current job at a fast growing fiber optic internet company as an outside plant engineer overseeing the installation of underground and eventually aerial construction. This is a four year project with the option to travel after that or possibly stay for future commercial builds. I’ll say I wish I would have stayed with the plumbing gig or gotten into the utility industry sooner. I’ve enjoyed both and have learned a lot and experienced a ton of cool things in the utility business.
  19. Last I heard you were living in a van down by the river. Glad to see you at least have internet down there.
  20. Sheesh!
  21. It’s still possible and quite likely we’ll see some more snow but as of right now we’ve had 40” of snow this winter compared to 110” last winter.
  22. It sounds like you’re doing the right thing right now. Come to places like this and read, ask questions. Surf the web and read and watch videos. You’re developing a network by being a co-angler. TOW is huge. Bundle all these things together and give it time and you’ll eventually get to where you want to be. It just takes time. Don’t worry about the ones who started way before you. There are pros on the tours who started bass fishing later in life.
