  1. Wait a minute…..that looks like Lake Menderchuck in the background! Beautiful fish as always.
  2. Their hunting resume is pretty impressive too and I imagine any hunter on this forum has bought or used something from one of their companies. https://www.gsmoutdoors.com/our-brands/ The sky isn’t falling IMHO, people just don’t like change. I surely don’t blame Gary. Every entrepreneur dreams of starting a company, growing a company, and eventually selling it for big money and enjoying the rewards of their hard work.
  3. Hunt 2: A calm warm morning so expectations were high. We get out to our spot, as daylight is starting to creep up on us, I hit a crow call with no answer. Once we hit legal shooting hours I hit the diaphragm call and get a couple responses in the direction of the big white pines where I figured they’d roost. As I talk back and forth with the 4 or 5 gobblers for a good 20-30 minutes I’m noticing the sky turning dark off to the west. We heard some thunder rumbling off in the distance but they’re still talking and don’t seem to be moving too much. Things seem to be going according to plan from my previous post. A little while later the rain starts to roll in as predicted….it’s game time! The light rain turns into a downpour and the Toms go silent! After a good soaking and no end in sight we decide to take shelter in a nearby deer shack. Eventually the rain stops and we head back out into the wild to see if they’ll fire back up. We hit the calls a couple times and get a response both times but they’re further away than before. We give them a little time, try again, and they’re further away! Once the rain was done they headed out to the field which we can’t hunt. Soaked and cold we decided to call it and go for a drive which confirmed my suspicions they headed to the field. There they were in a freshly tilled field all fanned out! The hunt wasn’t successful in terms of a filled tag, but was successful because 6poundbass got some close gobbler action. The season’s still young.
  4. The turkey hunting version of a skunk photo. 😁
  5. Congrats! How was the fight?
  6. Nice work! Looks like some good size spurs.
  7. I was a straight braid guy for years with no issues. It’s nice using a heavier test and not worrying about losing lures except when the toothy critters show up! If there’s any doubt whether the fish can see your line, give Seaguar TactX a try. It’s braid and is camouflaged. The best of both worlds!
  8. I forgot my update. We met up with the land owner Saturday morning to walk the land and scope it out. We went out Saturday night and didn’t see or hear any birds. Sunday we didn’t make it out because Liam was invited to go to a Michigan State baseball game. Next opportunity will be Saturday. We’ll be getting @gimruis weather so it won’t be ideal. That being said this spot sets up good for crap weather. There are big white pines along a field (this area we can’t hunt), however the area we can hunt is in the woods with a big clearing in the middle, and a creek running through it. My hope is the birds drop down out of the white pines and head right towards us to get some cover from the crap weather. As long as it’s not a downpour we’re going. I’ve seen plenty of times over the years the birds seem to be pretty active when the weather is crappy. We shall see!
  9. As always, nice catches! What kind of surface temps are you seeing out there?
  10. You mean to tell me you guys don’t find, ”Llllllllllllllet’s get ready to weight them!” or ”Gggggggggiant bass!” Catchy? What’s not to like about hearing those catchy phrases multiple times a day/tournament? 🤮
  11. I remember that and him crying and saying he didn’t ‘cheat’ (I’m paraphrasing). Either he forgot about what he did in 2007 or he learned and wanted to teach others from his mistake?
  12. That’s easy. The only way you’re practicing casting without the possibility of catching anything is if you’re casting line with absolutely nothing on it and no one is doing that!
  13. No matter how harsh the season one thing seems to stay consistent, those girls like to pack on the calories for their men! Well done @A-Jay
  14. I finally got a picture of the Kentwood gobbler. He just tried stopping me.
  15. @Ztrain sure loves football, especially his Chicago Bears.
  16. Our game wardens cover a huge area and are rarely seen. They are spread too thin. I’ve crossed paths with one over the years and that was on a two track on state land. I’ve never had one stop me on the water heck, I’ve never seen one on the water.
  17. exactly how the lake I referenced is
  18. There’s at least one lake around here that does that every year shortly after ice out. It’s either from heavy rains or the bottom turning over. Either way the fishing sucks when this particular lake is green.
  19. That’s me to a tee! Then again I can be the exact opposite. I can abandon a presentation too quickly. I’m a Jekel and Hyde some days and stubborn as a mule other days. 😬
  20. Holy smokes, nice one!
  21. Good to hear things are facing the right direction! Happy belated birthday Lynn!
  22. Are you referring to the Tracker Avalanche from way back? That was their full size aluminum bass boat. I built one and it came out to $80k, (To quote the sharks on Shark Tank) “for that reason, I’m out.” 😂
  23. @LrgmouthShad they’re the same price as the “regular” hooks and you don’t have to worry about them rusting. Win win!
  24. Cats prefer isolated cover too! Notice the laser pointer in the background. This is what he’s lying in wait for.
