  1. Update from me here in Michigan. My wife had to shut down her dog grooming, Sunday. All non essential business were to shutdown Monday. Thankfully my work (utility) is essential so I’m still working, but the work coming in is at a snails pace. I have project work to do so that’ll get me hours. It’s looking like we won’t have a choice but to lay a few guys off. Hopefully we can all get back to normal soon than later.
  2. I haven’t had any issues figuring out what I’m looking at. I actually got rid of my Helix and got another Garmin because I felt the image was better on the Garmin. I didn’t have the HDSI transducer for the Helix either which makes a difference.
  3. I’ve been very pleased with my Garmin units. I have no experience with the UHD. Garmins are easy to use, their mapping is good, the images I feel are good, better than the Helix I had. That’s my experience. You really can’t go wrong no matter which brand you pick. Everyone is different.
  4. I’m still working so I’m thankful but, wishing I had the three weeks off to fish whenever. Financially I need to work, so I’m happy!
  5. Loving the lake life/lockdown right now.
  6. Another blessing and a curse. I’m a utility locator so we will continue to work which is good. The downside is I’m working, so I can’t fish on our open lake. Trust me I’m thankful it’s business as usual for us. But I wish...
  7. I’m remember one time when I was 14 or so, my sister lived on the lake across the road from the one I live on now. We had a warm spell to melt the snow, then everything froze. The whole lake was like glass. I had 500 plus acres of ice like glass to skate around on with a stick and a puck. It was absolutely awesome!
  8. I’m with you. I’ve been reading, talking on here, watching shows, and videos and I still haven’t had that light bulb moment. I’m fighting the urge to go back to beating the bank.
  9. I see where it might be useful getting used to the feel of your getting hitting each branch.
  10. Social distancing is getting the best of me already. ?
  11. Roast was in the smoker for me. It got done two hours early. It’s now wrapped in a towel sitting in the cooler until we’re ready to eat. Pictures of that brisket or it didn’t happen. ?
  12. Sounds like her.
  13. I’ve sent the wife plenty of bills over the years but they always go unpaid.
  14. If you have a map gas torch or know someone who is a plumber or has the torch you can get aluminum brazing rods from a welding supply store and patch those holes up. My friend is in the process of doing that with a jonboat that has some cracks from running the river.
  15. Electricity scares the crap out of me. Even when the breaker is off when I’m doing work I’m still nervous thinking it might be on. Lol Doing my job for 10 years I’ve seen some memorable things that has given me a healthy respect for electricity and natural gas. A hit gas main that’s blowing and tossing rocks and dirt 20 feet in the air will give you a bit of a pucker factor. It’s nice to save money doing these simple things. Our house we bought last winter needed the front resided, which I did and saved a ton doing it. I did a lot in my short life, which gives me enough knowledge to save money and be a little dangerous too.
  16. I’ve heard nothing but good things from Humminbird CS. I’ve had the same experience with Garmin CS.
  17. We get home tonight and the wife is doing her end of night thing in the bathroom and the sink clogs like nobody’s business! Well I was a plumber for two years so here I go to try and fix the problem. After 45 minutes of plunging and everything to try and release the clog, I’m to the point of giving up! I throw on gloves and take apart the trap. Anyone who’s done this knows it’s not fun. Long story short there’s a hair crimp stuck and collecting everything! Needless to say it cleared things out and I wasn’t impressed because It’s pro bono. Two years ago at the old house it was the hot surface igniter at 11 at night that I fixed pro bono. It saves a ton of money, but what a pain! Rant over. Lol
  18. My wife’s job shut down. No unemployment for her. Thankfully her dog grooming is exploding! My work is getting into full gear as well. I’m now a lead tech so I’m doing work at home after hours so that means extra hours so it should help. Positive attitude will help us get through.
  19. One year when we lived on the lake we’re on now, I bought the wife a pink rod and reel combo from Cabelas for her birthday. We went out that morning fishing of course. She had on her Signature Senko, she has a bass on and was reeling it in and a giant pike came up and took everything, four feet from the boat. Needless to say it put a major damper on the morning. Lol They take everything!
  20. So much for our nocturnal guard dog!
  21. I’m still jealin’ @A-Jay it’s much earned of course! Thank you for your service sir! I can’t say that enough!
  22. That’s one sweet setup! The big red button is that the ejection button to shoot you through the ceiling of your house? ?
  23. I’ve lived here my whole life and it still blows my mind how much of a difference a two hour drive makes. You’re in a winter wonderland, and the birds are back, the ice is gone, and just yesterday I saw a few willows (I believe) with buds on them.
  24. Hopefully some of the rain and warm weather we have in the forecast makes it up to you.
