  1. As far as I know you don’t even need to go to the extent of the bucket of water. Just don’t hook the transducer, and just put it in demo mode and you’ll be good. This is what I did when I got my Garmin a couple years ago, and what I’ll do if I end up getting one here in the near future.
  2. A big thanks is in order for @deaknh03. He puts this on every year. He twisted my arm enough that I finally participated and I’m glad he did because I enjoyed it. Thanks Deak!
  3. Mid 50’s yesterday 21 today with windchills in the single digits.
  4. @NoShoes there’s your answer ^^^^^
  5. From what I’ve read expanding to Atlanta.
  6. Astrological winter started here at 5:40 am here (I believe)
  7. We’ve had ice on our lake for over two weeks now. I took a step off our dock with one foot and it started cracking! I’ll go on it when there’s 5”. I’m not a big fan of ice let alone ice fishing. I remember one time I was ice fishing when I was about 6poundbass’s age at about 10pm and the ice shifted and shot water up the hole about 6” and that scared the ? out of me!
  8. Tackle Warehouse is coming to Atlanta, GA next year so we’ll see what that does for everyone.
  9. Lakeshore 4” is inland about 1” by the end of the day tomorrow. The bottom is going to fall out on this by midnight. 50 mph winds are on our way.
  10. Sitting on the back deck here in Michigan over looking the frozen lake having some Miller Lites while it 52 degrees on December 23rd, who woulda thunk it!
  11. There is a Cabelas outpost store about 50 minutes from me, SW is about 60 minutes in the other direction, a real Cabelas is about 2.5 hours from me, and the closest BPS is around 3 hours from me.
  12. Looking at the diagram isn’t this basically a Carolina rig?
  13. 50’s today w/rain this evening, then switching to snow tomorrow. Only supposed to get an inch, the lakeshore is supposed to get around 4. It’s been around a week and a half since we’ve seen the sun for more than 30 minutes. Major downfall to living on this side of the big lake.
  14. The wife got me one a couple months ago and took 24-36 hours. Every time I’ve gotten one it took at least 24 hours.
  15. I’ve been filling and organizing mine. Still working on it but you get the drift.
  16. I started with Garmin and Humminbird. The boat I bought had a couple Helix units and before I bought the boat I bought a Garmin Echomap. Before I bought the boat I had decided on Garmin. I’m a budget guy and with Garmin you get more bang for your buck. The preloaded maps had my lakes, Humminbird didn’t. Garmin has QuickDraw where you can create up to 1 million (I believe) acres which is more than I’ll ever need, Humminbird you have eight hours, then you need to buy a zero lines card which is over $100. So Garmin was the right fit for me. You really can’t go wrong with any unit. Humminbird has MEGA imaging which from the sounds of it, it’s better than Garmin’s UHD. Lowrance have fish reveal which looks like it would be nice to have. Lowrance’s live imaging is borrowed technology from Garmin, so it’s basically Garmin’s first gen live imaging so I doubt it’ll ever compete with Garmin. Humminbird has MEGA 360 and soon to be MEGA Live which has caused some to become head over heels in love with it even though to my knowledge nothing has come out to show what it is or what it looks like. Then Garmin has Panoptix, Livescope, their excellent mapping, UHD, and some argue the best 2d sonar. Just keep researching, the more informed you are the better you’ll feel about your decision.
  17. Were they working overseas or on the other side of the country taking care of a sick mother?
  18. I picked one up on Black Friday. Seems to be a stout box, I plan to fill it today or tomorrow. For the price you really can’t go wrong, compared to the competitors versions of these terminal tackle boxes.
  19. It’s interesting you say Garmin is out since Humminbird and Lowrance are coming out with something new. Humminbird and Lowrance are using Garmin’s technology.
  20. I’ve looked at the Navionics maps on this and and the maps on my older Garmins and there’s a huge difference! I’ve found some really nice potential spots on the Navionics that aren’t on my older Garmins. So when I get my new Echomap I’m going to be doing a ton of mapping.
  21. Flower beds and gardens.
  22. They’re not supposed to be established in North American waters. Catch as many as you can and throw them on the bank or better yet throw them in the trash.
  23. That’s good to hear. I’m looking to get one soon and would love that feature. @Sprocket you’re the Garmin pro, any help on how to enable this feature?
  24. I have two non CHIRP Echomap units and asked before about them and was told they don’t have them. Maybe the newer ones have them, it’s a really nice feature that would be very handy.
  25. This song is such an ear worm! I woke up at 5:30 this morning with it in my head. The morning show I listen to plays it every year.
