Only a dusting of snow for us down here. My lake has been completely froze for a week or two now and this morning I noticed I nice grown crack starting in front of our dock and running about 300’. There are a couple other growth cracks new this morning, so she’s making ice. The lake across the road from ours is still 80% open. With the warm up the next few days the ice production will probably slow down a bit which won’t disappoint me. 90-100 days until open water doesn’t sound too bad considering how fast this year flew by!

I’m sure wives caught their husbands order and made them cancel them. Poor guys!

Our female pug Lola has an ear that’s always sticking up in a different way when she wakes up. We call it her ‘bed head’.

I’m a follower not a leader, so I mimic the pros and say “big un” or “giant” as soon a I feel the tap or see my line move. My accuracy in predicting the size while setting the hook is on par with their predictions so I have that going for me! ??

Tracker is far from superior. They’re a good boat, but you’re limited to how you can order. I’ve never owned a Lund or Lowe, from where other brands stand out from Tracker is quality of material used, layouts, and fit and finish of the boat. You can’t go wrong with a Tracker, there’s just better boats out there.

Check out the Vexus AVX181. It’s a mod-v and at the top of your budget but worth a look. I’ve read the the build prices are a bit higher than the actual price.

You are correct that you can not order Tracker boats to your liking. You can change outboard sizes and that’s it. Do you have any Lund, G3, or Vexus dealers in your area? These brands are of good quality and should have something in your size and price range.

My lake is frozen, the sun rarely shows itself nowadays, temperatures are bitter, so I was very pleased to see the new season of Zona’s Awesome Fishing Show starts tomorrow at noon! Now if only we can get lucky and he filmed a 26 episode season....a guy can wish can’t he?

The motive should be the news. This is ‘new’ so to speak and the infrastructure is caught with their pants down.

It definitely sounds like a Central Office. Based on my experience (I’m no expert by any means) the potential is there for it to take a very long time. To give you some examples why it could take a very long time, old copper cables aren’t color coated. I had a 2400 (4800 individual copper lines) pair paper cable get cut in half by a tree spade about 8 years ago. It took around 10 people working around the clock 4 days to splice it back together. That was one cable. Fiber optic is what things are being upgraded to. Fiber is difficult to get a good clean fuse on it and is usually just replaced in large sections which can take time as well.

I hear ya, it is difficult to get the motivation to go freeze your arse off. I work outside all year long, when I’m outside for work in the cold during the week it makes it more difficult to go freeze on the weekend.

I’m heading in the opposite direction. I’m not a fan of ice fishing at all and I could count on one hand how many times I’ve been out in the last decade or more. My 10 year old son has been wanting to go more and more the past couple years and is turning up the heat after he got a late Christmas gift last year that was an ice shanty. I’m not going to discourage it one bit so I guess we’ll be ice fishing more this year. If we can get on fish it isn’t that bad.

I located AT&T here in Michigan for 5 years and they have plenty of redundancy, for natural disasters, and damages due to excavation but if a Central Office (switch center) is targeted and taken out I don’t know if redundancy would be effective or not especially if the heart of the operation is compromised. Sad situation either way.

So what time were you awakened by an excited kid? It was 4 am when our son woke us saying he’s been trying since 3:30 to try and get back to sleep. He’s 10 and I’m guessing will be his last year he believes in Santa so we’ll let the early wake up slide. It was fun watching his excitement, nervousness, and joy opening his gifts. Less than 45 minutes later it’s all over with, he’s exploring everything he got, the wife went back to bed, and I’m left wide awake twiddling my thumbs.
