  1. I'm curious about how the Lew's Hero performs. I procured 2 of the Tournament SG (with MSB) and love it, and my 12 year old was the benefactor of dad getting a smoking deal and was given the second (lucky little kid). Due to the discount I receive at a local Big Box, I paid less for the combos than the reel costs on its own.......I know they're decent rods (already switched mine out - but perfect for the boy), so for him it's perfect.....heck the kid to took to being able to baitcast after 5 minutes last season.... It took me a year (10 years ago), so I gave him one with mono, assuming I'd lose all the line to backlashes....,not 1 more than 10'. I like the concept of the Hero line, so I'll be watching for some reviews. How do you like the Fenwick rods? I keep fondling them at GM, as they're so d**n reasonable? They obviously perform, looking at your cache......would you say they had a weakness at some level (not a great H/F rod, better suited for Xxxxxx)? I'm asking because I can get 2 for the price of some of the other rods I've been looking at.....
  2. I must be lucky, being in the north, as our BPS has nearly everything on hand. Bought an Ike rod (had to actually pick between 3 different models I'd been reading about). The have Saints, G(ee I'm over priced for not being a fly rod) Loomis, Shimano, and a bevy of house rods and the ubiquitous Ugly, Berkley, et all.
  3. Thank you, J Francho! Simplicity rocks!
  4. As an aside, as the vast majority of these eBay handles come from China, are they worth even inquiring about? Ergo, should I really expect to pay around $100 for one from our great nation? I apologize, Bassman........I was remiss in not reloading the page before posting again. Thank you. I will check them out right now. That's more like it!! Problem solved. Thanks again Bassman (I can put the bottle of Tylenol migraine down now, LOL)!!!! TT had just what I'm after........many thanks!! $37 from a real (no pun intended) store, and it's just Shimano? DONE!
  5. New to the forum, and did a few searches (varied keywords) and could not find a good answer. As I'm in the process of switching from LH to RH, due to wrist injury making rod action difficult, I have procured a Lew's with the 93(?)mm handle width, as well as a Shimano Curado 200. I love the distance between the knobs on the Lew's, asked almost tried a BPS replacement handle - it was a bit longer when we compared in store.........but weren't sure it would fit, plus it's just a straight aluminum blah piece. I am searching, and have prevailed in finding some suppliers on eBay that had the width and the swept back handles.......... ANY advice would be much appreciated. Great info and members on here. Glad I joined!
  6. I'm in the same predicament.....I have to have hand surgery on my right hand - had a very childish moment 3 years ago (1 punch = 3 specialists/lots of cortisone/multiple MRI's)...... STUPID! Anyway, I have a a LH arsenal of Revo SX & STX's. In lieu of taping my right hand over splints (like back in my fighting days) just to slash jerkbaits, walk Spooks, effectively run frogs and other rod action lures.....and albeit I could cast fine, I couldn't even write my name after docking the boat. And come Monday, being a landscape designer, I couldn't draw a thing. I found the Lew's combo with the MBS Tournament combo for my 12 year old in RH at a steal, I procured one as well (and knowing the manager a Curado for cost, as well) - just to see if I could, and ultimately allow me to work the rod effectively as well (and forego the pre-fight prep and pain). I found it awkward at first, but think it will be the way to go......as well as swapping spinning reel side to RH. I cut down an old rod so I can practice switching hands and reeling. Time will tell if the 6 Revo go up for sale... New to the group and am already learning some cool info. Thanks all!
