I haven't used an SV103 so I can't comment on that reel, but I do have the Zillion SV TW. I keep it spooled with 17lb-20lb Invizx and use it for pitching and skipping only. For the way I fish the SV TW is a specialty reel and I only use it for short-ish line presentations.. I keep it about an 1/8" from full and find that if I cast my jig a long way I can almost spool it out. If I were to break off way out there I'm not sure if I would have enough line to continue fishing. Depending on where the break occurred. Then again, if you were to use lighter line (10-12lb) and fill it all the way up you may find it has enough capacity for what you want to do with it. I'm pretty sure that the SV 103 has the same size spool so that may be something to consider when deciding how versatile either reel is for your needs.
What are you wanting to do with this reel? To me the 200I, with it's larger spool capacity is a reel that can be used for many things. For the way I fish the 70, with it's much smaller capacity especially when spooled with 15lb-20lb, would pretty much be limited to pitching or shorter cast presentations. Both are good reels though.
Well, I'll admit that big, fat "soggy cigar" eaters aren't all that common. But.... just give one to your BIG mouth, MUCH smarter than you, MUCH better everythinger than you, ANNOYING as a ****** ******, "soggy cigar" eating brother in law one time. Watch what he'll catch on it out of the back of your boat on a ledge you've made the perfect cast to 47 consecutive times.
Don't ask me how I know this.
My best concert was probably Super Jam '77 at the old Busch stadium. Ted Nugent, REO Speedwagon, Head East, Judas Priest and Gypsy. VERY good time.... Until I puked. Not so much after that.
I always use some sort of spinnerbait trailer. Even if it's just a piece of plastic worm that doesn't extend past the hook bend. It adds a little bulk and weight and it keeps the trailer hook that I ALWAYS use from riding up the hook. The only time I don't use a trailer hook is if the cover is too thick and it keeps hanging up.
It's kind of an sickness and we all have it to some degree.
The sad fact is every one of those lures in our boxes IS the "Golden BB Miracle Lure".
IF you put it in the right place at the right time in the right color with the right retrieve. And that's where it all gets tricky.
A little luck doesn't hurt either.
Good luck with YOUR sickness over the next 5000 years.
Initially I would fish shallow and cover water using a buzzbait, spinner bait, square bill etc. The fish are probably going to be scattered out but they are in the shallow water to eat. When you run into one it won't be hard to catch. Ditches and cuts running through grassy or brushy flats can be good places as well as the points that scaleface mentioned. I would try to stay in the clearest water I could find. At least for the 1st couple days after it gets trashed. Once the mud quits flowing in and the clearer water starts coming in I would run to the very backs of the creeks as that water back there will be clearing up. We face this all the time in our Corps lakes as well and it's a pretty consistent pattern
Ok, I just seen scaleface fishes Mark Twain. You need him to give you more details on the subject because he's been through your scenario MANY, MANY times! That lake will come up 5' overnight.
Huh, scaleface?
And to think about how when I was a kid and all those times I got smacked on the back of my head for making too much noise in the boat I was actually ATTRACTING fish.
I can't help but wonder why this new Mega Imaging didn't come out on the Onix instead. I mean how long do you think it would have been until the Helix was a legacy model. I thought Helix was basically a 9 series renamed. Is Helix now their flagship line? Or is it possible that Mega Imaging is coming to Onix too? I don't get it.
Do you know much increase in range in 1200 over 800?
Does 1200 have a different degree of coverage area than 800?
Is 1200 range no longer depth dependent like 800?
I have a feeling they're gonna be proud of them.
I have a Humminbird unit and I use their SI on occasion. I was under the impression that the majority of the Humminbird guys vastly favored 455khz over 800khz for it's increased range. It almost seemed like they had very little use for 800 and didn't really need the detail all that much. Now for Humminbird to go this direction is kind of odd to me. Are the Humminbird guys now going to be heading in the detail over range direction?
