  1. To the OP’s question, I would get the GLX regardless of price. I have even gone to the mag series over the JWR. Truth be told Conquest , can be had for 400.00 and if you don’t go custom look for one
  2. Show me an adult male without some pain, and I will show you someone who has not lived.
  3. Met Mgl and call it a day
  4. At 30 yards, landing it in a hul-hoop is as good as it gets for me and I seldom throw most baits further. At 20 yards a bucket is achievable. Flipping and pitching is where I need more work
  5. Having had over a dozen procedures, it is easy to come up with excuses not to do something. I see endurance and balance as being more most important at my age. knowing your limitations is also a key factor in staying on the water. There are also many simple solutions to A lot of our struggles. Orthotics help with ankle, kneee and back pain. Talons help avoid having to lift anchors. seats with good back support allow rest when moving spots. self inflatable pfd’s eases your mind. wrist compression sleeves help with inflammation. ect........ i also believe there is a difference between being in good shape and being in fishing shape. i know many that have difficulties walking but can spend 8 hrs on a boat...
  6. Mike, sounds great. When will you be able to share more? Just looking ahead...
  7. While not with fishing boats, I have been part of club water ski boats and shared use boats The easiest way was to divide the total expenses by the hours of use. This included all maintenance and depreciation and it was the responsibility of the last user to top off the tank. The insurance listed the club as owner and it worked great. There was an upfront cost to carry the financing of the boat for a year, and it was sold every year. Since the boat was on a promotional plan the initial deposit was rolled to the next boat. This works well with closely held clubs and few members.
  8. It will, but I think the MBR may be better suited for jerks.
  9. You know where I stand. Have owned both and I believe quality material craftsmanship trump Weld vs rivet. I do believe there is a reason you see so many old Lunds still on the water.....not so much tracker
  10. Bottom contact, trig and light weight jigs awesome rod ?
  11. PM me the address and are you close to a BPS or Cabellas?
  12. surgical gloves Plus Plaplace disposal toe warmer on the back the side of your hand. Most of the blood runs on the back side and it really heeps your hands almost hot. Also, anything you can do to heat your chest will also allow for better blood flow to your extremities. I used to test battery heated vest and it often allowed me to get away with very thin gloves where normally mittens would be a must.
  13. I use MH swimbait or crankbait rods with 30 braid..I often swap out at least 1 treble hook I do like using combinations of EWG and round bends
  14. Tom, I was a white water kayak guide / instructor and a scraded knife on your chest is invaluable if you in the water or may only have the use of 1 hand. A second knife on the shin has also come in handy. Most never think if this while fishing out of a kayak but they should
  15. I will start a separate thread on it.....it is my braid of choice including silky
  16. I like the FMJ and GLX MBR. They are different but love both for that purpose. They can be had for 300 used
  17. @Way2slow is spot on! I don't consider a 223 an ethical caliber for most people to be trying to kill deer beyond 200 yards anyway. Now, by no means am I saying it won't easily kill a deer beyond that with a well place bullet. It's just most I've run into can't make a well placed shot. ......There are better tools for the job
  18. Seams there are 2 camps for MB.....lovers and haters. I have 2, a FMJ and flatside special and have been happy with both and have my fingers crossed they don't snap like so many others.......good friend included! Of what your looking at, the Braillist would get my call, but knowing what I know now, would look to other manufacturers with a history of consistency in manufacturing and CS. .....just one guys opinion
  19. Like others have said, use way you like...who cares. If you want training wheels, get a Shimano DC. Taught my daughter in one this summer and now uses a Met MGL with ease
  20. I think how a rod flexes is more important than the perceived speed....A great example is the Loomis MBR'S which are labeled fast, but parabolic bend pins the fish. I prefer these over my st croix M/
  21. No first hand knowledge and doubt there will be given all the other great options with stellar CS. A quick Google search shows shows to many udersatisfied customers with the product and CS.
  22. Fishing is what I do to avoid stress....if something this simple annoys you, fish by yourself. 3/4 of the time, I am my best friend.
  23. Heck, I don't even believe my own pics, ?
