I see I am in the minority here, but I prefer my shield. It's true the trigger is not as good, but can be remindeed simply. I am just far more accurate and the platform fits. I have yet to find rounds it doesn't like, but I practice with what I chambered daily. For me, pistols this size, it's about balance, carry position and how quickly you can get the 2nd round off. That said, there is no mistake here.

Thumb vs Finger and a little arthritis......make the BC easier. But skipping is easier for me with spinning gear

With the exception of a couple 6's for cranking, I run all 8's. I know it's about IPT, but you get the idea. It's all personal preference and I am naturally a slow winder, that said being able to pick up line fast on a 40 yard cast in 25 feet of water, speed helps

If metal, Lund Pro V with Honda or Yammy If glass Ranger with the same motor options. For my lake, I would go Lund. For larger lakes in my area, Ranger......purely for the the difference in ride.

I too prefer BC over spinning reels, but do to you will find a caster that will out perform the spinning setup. The issue is that lighter baits decelerate quicker than BC spools can and you get more nest. When you see pros picking up spinning gear, it should tell you something. If I had to pick, I would look at the Expride A 7'2" Sorry to be little help

This year is going to be very bad.... When was in an NBC unit the joke was that we were more likely to get sick from ticks than we were from chemicals we were working with. Like other have said, long socks and pants are key. Light colors help you see the ticks better. Blousing pants are a must. Grass hold more ticks than woods. Not all ticks are created equal. Deet is your friend, as is beech or your clothes when you return. We also found that a layer of heavy cream on arms and legs, neck also created a barrier to slow the penitration down. Learn how to remove them in one piece....some good videos on this.

For me, thumbs finishing at 3 or 9 o'clock, depending on right/left make far more sense biomechanically and allows you to use larger muscle groups keeping tendons and ligaments in alignment avoiding problems later. Many of us are in pain today because we used poor techniques in strength training and sports when we were younger.

I used to think that there were many technique specific rods and I even thought a jig rod needed an Xf tip. I now believe the MBR flex in Loomis line is the solution to that. I now put more fish in the boat, even with jigs with GLX MBR'S. Flip and pitch and spinning rod covers most everything else

At one point last Summer the bite dropped off on my go-to jig and I happened to have one on another setup. I added a nail weight and hopped it along the bottom as I was my jig and was pleasantly surprised. For the remainder of the year I always had one in deck because my confidence grew. In giving this a second thought, it may be one of the more versatile baits, that doesn't come to mind as my first option. Got to change that.....good thread!

My landing percentage at 40 yards in 30 feet of water is far worse than 25 yards at the same depth. Boat placement is everything.

My partner uses one with good success. I have one, but prefer pliars
