  1. Calcutta conquest 100 or 300 all day long for those applications.....if your looking to do it with just one
  2. Howdy and welcome. Your going to get a lot of reply on this one. Red label for me has been terrible. My FC'S....Tatsu, Invisx, and Hitena Braid, 832, Gamma, Smackdown, Hitena pureline . Good luck!
  3. ......and it's getting worse. I work with high school aged kids. When their parents ask me what their kids should do in the Summer, I tell them all the same thing, "get a job", preferably one that involves manual labor to help keep them in shape. Most parents are not expecting that and are usually disappointed. They want to hear about Summer sports camps and such. It's not the kids, it's the parents!
  4. I think it's your thumb or shoulder. Thumb to light. Shoulder to hard. I see this when folks try to throw to far and loose their technique
  5. They are taking over many fisheries in the East. I was at a tournament last year and Fish and Game asked us to kill or take as many as we could.......
  6. This problem is magnified by historically low unemployment. Folks that normally not be in the workforce are and these are some of the results. My bigger concern is the lack of kids going to trade school.
  7. The laws for lead in the North East was largely intended to restrict shops from selling them. Enforcement is virtually no exit. Truth be told,Fish and Game was told not to bother in NH
  8. You can use what you use in the day for sure.....I just limit things as it is a new experience. I struggle with situational awareness, do to vision and hearing issues. I tend to throne a lot of topwaters, then vertical presentations and swimmers. If throwing jigs, my cast are much shorter.
  9. ^this......before I went deep with shimano, I spoke to several of the top guys know for reel service and all told me they have far fewer problems with Shimano. Doubt they will weigh in on the topic
  10. I must be using mine differently than others as I am never more than 50 yards away and never for long. When I double back, a handful of cast then decide if it makes it on plotter. My markers aren't in the water for more than 30 minutes
  11. Alpha Slasher or MB Jerkbait or flatside special. I am using Defier or Defier Armilo. I loved the feel of braid to leader, but defier Armilo gets far more in the boat
  12. Ford or Chevy.....I am in the shimano camp and after casting the conquest 100, I was hooked!
  13. ^this.....I put a strip of white repetitive tape on one end and white on the other.....really helps
  14. I carry a white and black. Not sure it matters.
  15. Easiest to use is Garmin....The 9's can be had relatively cheap.
  16. Depending on where you live, all day long. Gen1. Your body will adapt to trigger.....that isn't perfect. Truth be told, if you don't have a lot to compare the trigger to, it's fine. If you have had trigger work done on other weapons, you'll be disappointed
  17. I carry one at the helm and one near the TM and tend to use them more when looking for structure in areas new to me. I usually go past the area then circle back. If I really like them, I drop a mark on the Garmin or Navionics app
  18. Squam is known as an excellent SM fishery. This Summer we have been catching a LOT of LM in the same areas. This morning numbers were low but a 5.3 LM on a NEKO in 10 feet made my day.
  19. I think the above nails it. That said, for my braid to leader setups, I use the PR for FC under 12 lbs and have yet to have one break. Most of my leader line is Blue label or abrasex (sp)
  20. How deep is the thermocline? I would not target fish below that....and remember not all fish are deep. Every fish caught from my boat over the last 2 weeks have been in less than 20 ft of water, most in 10.
  21. Fishing partners will come and go, but family is forever. Son, grandson and brother trump every thing else and we fish for volume........wife will fish to keep me company but won't get up at 4:00 AM to do so ?
  22. Mr @Team9nine is absolutely correct. I would also say your casting technique could be off. I see this a lot when guys use a "spinners" cast.....
  23. This year the Fat Ika has been the most universal bait I have used It is the perfect weight to be used throughout the water column a slow fall has caught me more LM than the last 5 yrs combined
  24. Wow! This post started 18 pounds ago! That said, while a 7lb LM is as big as I can expect in my primary fishery, I would be happy with 4 pound SM all day long
