  1. I know a fella that swears by watermelon flukes
  2. 66 degrees outside today, figured I would night fish. Not bad for January
  3. They might want to spawn inbetween zone 3&4 also if there are smallmouth. They like to make their nest up against a random log out in the wide open flats
  4. If it's still clear go with finesse or jerkbait. If it's muddy throw a crankbait and jig into the melting runoff flowing in (if possible)
  5. For winter it's a 2.5 inch gulp minnow. For summer I usually throw a hand pour that's a tad longer than a zoom super fluke
  6. Thanks fellas
  7. Sweet! I have still never ice fished. I've had to break it up with the boat and fished near the edges of It but never cut a hole in it
  8. @Darren. hate to see the season end for y'all but at least you made the playoffs. If you get rid of Taylor make sure to send peterman with him
  9. Holy cow that's pretty wild
  10. Got a couple crappie today. Water was frozen in a few places. If you guys could keep the ice up north that'd be great......
  11. Cool video man. I have only been to Michigan once but I learned very quickly that you better hold onto your rear end when a smallmouth eats your hook up there
  12. @slonezp caught 5-6 crappie and maybe a dozen bluegill in an hour, if you could get the bait to sink properly in the current they hit it every time
  13. I know an upgrade would help but Navigation was still possible before lowrance. One of the most dangerous things you can do where I fish is to watch electronics while on plane
  14. They were bluegill and crappie, I caught them. I don't need to be upgrading maps although it wouldn't hurt my feelings. I just use the lines for a general idea to avoid shallow spots and stumps. Staying somewhat close to the path you came in on doesn't hurt. I don't rely on it for accuracy just a general path. Methinks I should have just posted the bottom half of the photo, my intention was for people to see the panfish. I just like marking schools and being able to identify them by catching
  15. It has been an awesome unit. Black Friday deal for $200 I think a few years back
  16. Scott martin was pitching a drop shot all over the place with a baitcaster in the Mississippi River flw event
  17. I love swimming and I use a styrofoam pfd
  18. Today was my first full day back from vacation up north. Brrrrrr. Back in the balmy 24 degrees I got an 18" smallmouth on my second cast. Actually cast out and set the rod down to gnaw on a frozen cookie for a few minutes. Picked the rod back up and thought I missed a bite but figured I was crazy. Reeled tight and jigged and the fish hit again
  19. I'm not familiar with that one but I will look into it. If your gear fits into your kayak you can camp on several islands for free. Cherokee lake is nearby and fishes very similar to Norris
  20. Basically what they do here is stock pure Florida strain every year and the result is F1. If they didn't stock more pure Florida every year then eventually the natives would outcompete them completely. That first generation F1 is cold tolerant and can get abnormally large
  21. Pretty cool. We have rainbow trout in Tennessee from the late 1800s, wonder if we traded bass for trout? Haha
  22. Only good ole styrofoam for me
  23. I wish we had one somewhere near me!
