  1. If only the DNR and tournament directors cared as much as the guy that wrote the article......
  2. I knew you were Jim cantori all along.....
  3. Small curly tail white grub on 1/8 oz jig head when they are chasing like that
  4. He was my second guess
  5. I used to watch a guy host a TV show on that lake, I want to say it was rusty faulk but that doesnt seem right.
  6. Meeeeee toooo
  7. That’s impossible
  8. Oh man...... for a river smallie man like yourself, the fluke can be so good. Use a massive hook and maybe try a green pumpkin one in clear water
  9. Awesome! I've been following those guys on YouTube
  10. I better take rain gear and plan an escape route
  11. I hate that for ya, i guess if it's hot you just need to stay inside. I would still caution against wishing for different weather, it's going to do what it's going to do. I try to be grateful for each day regardless of weather and my fishing opportunities are bountiful. Just my $.02
  12. Y'all are gonna wish your lives away. Just go fishing. If it's hot wear sunscreen if it's cold wear a jacket. Humans don't control weather
  13. Congrats @scaleface
  14. All my friends catch the heck out of bass with spinnerbaits, there's just something Im not doing right with them. For 25 years.....
  15. I fish a bladed jig in some thick milfoil and it comes through it pretty good. I consider it a fairly weedless bait but it hooks on a log very solidly quite often. Swim jig is definitely more weedless, I always reach for it when absolutely nothing else will come through the grass. I’ve been fishing a spinner bait my whole life and I’ve barely caught anything with them. I’ve been fishing a bladed jig for maybe a year and I’ve caught a lot of nice fish. Spinnerbaits are proven fish catching lures but to me personally it’s 1,000 times easier to get a bite with a chatterbait or jig
  16. Curly tail or paddle tail grub
  17. They are fun for small Brook trout streams though, aren't they?
  18. A 3 weight is no more manageable than a 5. In fact it seems the opposite to me, 3 weight is more specialized for small streams and small trout. The bigger the weight the easier they are to cast (for distance)
  19. Fly fishing doesn’t have to be expensive, that’s just what everyone wants you to believe (so they can sell you junk). Pfleuger medalist is the best beginner kit I know of, and you can catch fish on it for years after. I used mine from age 12-13 up into my early 20s. I still use cheap fly rods and They can cast just as far and accurate as anything else. Believe me I’ve compared them all side by side on practice ponds.
  20. I have lots of swollen pregnant crank baits , I use them for gar. That way I don’t care when they bite them in half
  21. @teethmarks, try backreel sometime when you have a nice fish on. Cool write up minus the heartbreak
  22. Sounds like an awesome spot, congrats on a memorable evening. Instead of adjusting drag during a fight like I used to, I either reel backwards (spinning) or push the button (baitcasting) nowadays. A few times I couldn’t loosen the drag quickly enough and they dove under the boat and broke off so I try not to fiddle with drag during a fight if I can avoid it
