  1. Yester years tournament anglers would shudder at the fact that he displays what he is using and how he does it to the whole world via the Internet. As it turns out, he is just better at fishing than most people on the planet and trying to beat him at his own game doesn't work. I really like and respect that about Wheeler. On a much smaller scale, I always have a couple buddies that think I'm crazy for posting fish pics on forums, but the wealth of friends and information I have acquired from the forums is something I really enjoy (thanks @Glenn). Therefore I really don't care what they think and my catch rates have gone up instead of down
  2. I've been following his YouTube channel since about the time he started it I guess. Some of my buddies get annoyed with all the giggling and off the water jazz, and I suppose I could see that, but I really like it most of the time. There's always fast forward if you don't like watching them rate sushi restaurants from 1-10! Dustin connell also cracks me up in a lot of the wheeler videos, and now he has his own channel too
  3. Excellent information! Those of us that watch your videos know they like to swim that bait back to the boat really fast because you are always cranking the ole winch handle for all she's got after you set the hook! I thoroughly enjoy watching the swinghead hooksets!
  4. Wheelers YouTube channel is way better than tv coverage. Uh.... DING!!!! Congrats to him for out fishing the competition by a mile in the weirdest world championship I have ever witnessed
  5. All you've gotta do is get some dry ice and ship the fillets to my front step! Although I haven't eaten an 8+ lb fish in quite some time . Striper salmon and halibut are the only ones that come to mind
  6. I mentioned it on another thread, this isn't the first time we've seen this from martens. Watch the Louisiana Delta classic that KVD won , the day that square bill sales skyrocketed
  7. Where at in NW Ohio? My girlfriend is from somewhere near hamler, I'll be up that way next month
  8. I would go for catfish to accomplish that one
  9. You get ettiquitte points when you lay your head down at night. I'm not saying the guy always follows around and tries to copy people, just saying he will never win that way , we've seen it fail twice on the biggest stage. Honestly I wouldn't even be proud if I won that way. Then again I would never do it in the first place
  10. Being caught deep and put in a livewell and slow weigh in is what caused the mortality
  11. I would say they are at fault just based on ettiquitte . Nobody likes getting rolled up on like that, wheeler sure didn't. Aaron martens will always be second place if he just keeps following whoever is in first and trying to copy them. That's exactly what he did to KVD in the classic on the Louisiana Delta
  12. Those guys would still beat us bad but at least we wouldn’t zero! The lakes here all have keeper limits higher than 12” or 1 lb Yeah I see enough of that crap on the water everyday, made me sad to see it at a “world championship” although that seemed pretty rinky dink for a world championship
  13. Push the power button once without holding it down and the brightness menu will appear
  14. I and all my friends have been known to catch a lot of 1 lb 1 oz bass
  15. A 600 acre lake is still quite small, most of ours are 30,000+ acres. @Dirtyeggroll put up a report in the fishing locations section today where he showed up blind to fish off the bank at a large reservoir and had success, it can be done. Back when I was bank bound I always liked to fish below dams
  16. Mayhem is an understatement for the atmosphere at every game I have ever been to (a whole bunch) and those were all BEFORE they allowed beer sales
  17. People with $75 k bass boats catching loads of fish , weighing them, then throwing their carcasses into a dumpster. Ain't that America..... First world problems
  18. Lesson number one of bass fishing: ponds are easy, lakes are hard. I grew up fishing a golf course, lots of grass and bass. The fishing was always easy and didn’t take long to start catching. I no longer have access to these ponds and could care less, i enjoy fishing large reservoirs from a boat way more than I ever enjoyed pond hopping. Like @BigAngus752 said, it’s all about the challenge
  19. As a non tournament fisherman, I wish my livewell dispensed ice instead of water! Cool video
  20. Thanks! I'll tell him you said that as we are going fishing this evening and tomorrow morning . That pic was from January 2016 on Cherokee lake. I'm guessing the spinning reels you are throwing are north of $25 tho... Haha. The cardinal in the photo I acquired for free.99. I found it under my buddy's passenger seat on the way to the river and he says "huh....that's been under there for years... You want it?" It still works well, got a 42"+ gar with it Sunday
  21. I would rather eat anything wild than store bought. I like food that tastes "gamey." I don't hunt because it cuts into fishing time and is expensive but thats what friends are for! I still get to eat deer and turkey and upland birds and long as I invite everyone over for occasional fish fry's
  22. Electronics are all kinds of fun. Even if you don't have them experiment in deep water with a big Shakey head or Texas rig. Just drag it on bottom somewhere between 15 and 25 feet. The anticipation when setting the hook on a deep fish is quite exhilarating Once they commit you still won't land them! Haha
