  1. No lure is immune to the swelling
  2. I did that with a big jigging spoon and took a chunk out of the cowling....... doh!.....
  3. Gosh. Too many to choose from. I love them all. Bobby garland makes some good ones. I like the traditional curly tail quite a bit, but I really love a small sassy Shad type bait. Those might be classified as swimbaits instead of grubs but they are awesome
  4. That’s an awesome setup. My buddy that is willing to bang 2oz jig heads with zoom magnum flukes on the rocks always catches more striper than anyone I know. He breaks off a ton of rigs though, which is why I don’t ever try it. I can’t stand getting hung up all the time. Granted this is casting into the boils right below a dam so you have to use super heavy sinkers to get down and when your jig hangs up it’s gone forever.
  5. Copperheads we have plenty of but they aren’t half as mean as their cottonmouth cousin. We’ve got timber rattlers up in the mountains but they are very seclusive
  6. @N Florida Mike, bluuuuuuuuhhhhhhh! East TN has no water moccasins and I couldn’t be happier about it. Any other snake will disappear but not that one!
  7. HHahaha!!
  8. Upper Tennessee river you would be fine. From chickamauga on down river you will be fine as long as the wind isn’t blowing. Main channel of guntersville pickwick and ky lake might as well be the ocean when it’s 15 mph +
  9. @Dirtyeggroll, you are on a roll! Ironic with your screen name and all.....
  10. I think those kind are typically a predecessor to a gust of wind. When a Shad makes a v wave I start scrambling around in the boat looking for a wake bait, preferably a bomber long A. I’m excited just thinking about it.........
  11. Every old timer I ever spoke with on the subject says “if you can see them, they can see you”
  12. I believe pecan is of the same genus as hickory, “carya “ Impossible!!!
  13. @Koz, good looking RHP ya got there! I wouldn’t want to stand in the box against him. Effort into homework?? Good luck with that.......Haha. The best thing about graduating college and joining the workforce? No more homework!
  14. Well the fiancé gave mango a bath last night and decided to let her sleep in the bed with us....... I woke up to a tick on my elbow
  15. I typically either catch them with a huge top water lure or a skipjack herring. The bait can be dead or alive, 1/0 seems like a small hook but maybe that’s a different size in circle hooks. The one in the picture was caught with a 6/0 stainless steel hook, although the hook was completely gone along with the skipjack
  16. Wow. One to remember!
  17. I can’t remember what I bought last year when I started drop shotting a lot but it works great. I think it’s an owner #1. I use Palomar Knot with an extra pass through the eye after it’s tied. Leave a long tag end and tie the sinker on last.
  18. Here’s what the TN river looked like yesterday, my buddy still managed to get that white bass and a drum. All the dams and highland reservoirs prevent it from getting out of the banks during constant rains but it was quite clear the day before. I saw some tributaries while driving around working yesterday that were out of their banks and into the woods and fields
  19. Awesome! Thanks for the update
  20. Well it sure is healthy water judging by the big LM youre always holding
  21. I’ll tell ya what they say in golf “drive for show, putt for dough”
  22. Nice fish. Hornets be damned
  23. If you don’t catch anything, well then what’s for dinner?? I have had plenty of skunks and will have many more but I would rather have fried fish for dinner
  24. All you can do is get out there and try as long as the water is safe. Spring cold fronts with muddy water sure do suck sometimes but it’s worth a shot, something good might happen
