Negative. That Steele creek park you mentioned supposedly has some Monster bass in it. From what I’ve heard you might not want to give up on it yet. Also the Holston River is very good for wade fishing if the flows will allow

I’ve never fished either but They both produce big largemouth and smallmouth. I even saw Where someone caught a 6 lb largemouth trolling 55 feet down targeting lake trout. When the water is up, there are tons of lay downs to fish. Boone has been 30 feet below full for several years but people still effectively fish and navigate it.

I thought it said he ran over the anchor rope with the prop. I’m guessing that left him powerless and he got sucked in like @slonezp said or the sudden stop made a wave come over the transom in swift water. I do know that running over a rope causes a sudden Stop because I’ve done it

I don’t bed fish because it takes forever to catch one haha. Now if I ever saw a big one on a bed, you’re darn right I would try it. But so far I’ve never seen that. Spotting the beds is rare on my water. There are a couple lakes where it happens but they mostly spawn out of sight near my house

That tactic is referred to as tightlining around here, very popular for big winter smallmouth using small fluke type baits, gulp minnows, and hair jigs. I use it frequently, cast at a steep bank and feather the rod tip as the lure works its way back to the boat. Deadly in 47-55 degree water
