  1. Still a decent bit of snow around so I decided to do some bank fishing. One of my frequent fishing buddies said he was down to go also, yee haw. Stopped below a main river dam hoping for white bass and maybe walleye. After 45 minutes or so and nothing but a drum, I ask josh if he wants to try another dam. He says “that sounds fine, I haven’t fished right here since the last time me and you did about 17 years ago....” 17.............. geez time flies............... but I digress. As we are walking back up the stairs to relocate, a fella hooks up with a decent walleye and we start second guessing our decision. Get to dam #2 and the water is off.......... forgot to check TVA, woops. Second guessing even further we start fishing and I remembered a boat trip long ago when a buddy said there were always Muskie up against the dam when the water was off. We start catching white bass once the jigs get down 20 feet, some nice sized ones too. As I’m reeling one in, all of a sudden it feels really slow. The water is chocked full of zebra mussels so it’s quite clear and what do I see: a big long Muskie holding my white bass like a dog bone. Well this joker just swims around with it like that forever, and ever, and ever. I tried throwing some slack so it might swallow it but nothing. I reeled him up pretty close to the bank several times and it would take off but not super fast. Finally I got him up next to my feet and he spit it out like tobacco juice ! What in the world? So I try to “cast” this dead white bass back into the river and it won’t sink. So I unhook it and we walk back to the trucks slightly defeated and a bald eagle swooped down and took the white bass. I also think the bird laughed at me
  2. I got hired to catch a groundhog that ate through some fiber optic cables years ago. It was a tiny fenced in area in the middle of downtown with a bunch of cable underground. The guy that hired me would point to a cable and say “now that goes to Washington DC” and “that goes to atlanta” and “we can’t have a groundhog eating all this.” Should have charged triple!!!
  3. I like the air about 40-50 degrees myself.
  4. Sounds about right
  5. I’ll be up that way in sept! Hopefully no snow at that point
  6. @The Bassman, which line do you throw? All the husky jerk I’ve used lately suspend on 6 lb mono . Then again I think I use # 10 model. I can watch the line floating on surface for “strikes on the pause” in dead of winter
  7. Let’s do it! My fiancé’s aunt and uncle fish the white river frequently also, maybe I’ll make it to AR also. I think fishing with Jordan Lee would be awesome, he’s a fish magnet!!
  8. I can take you to the areas ott fishes in a much slower rig with much less fish catching!
  9. Bass taste better than tilapia, maybe they aren’t as easy to net? also with the bass you’ve been catching lately, I’d say your are as close to a record fish as anyone right now ! A couple over 10 in a summer is incredible! Keep after em
  10. @A-Jay, that looks pretty fun! I think I would shatter my neighbors windows if I had that! I do have a 13hp Honda clone for my shallow water boat, sounds eerily similar to your snowblower. I’m very familiar with the sound driving 10 mph up river 10 miles with nothing but that to listen to haha. (I can go a breakneck 14 mph back downstream though!)
  11. @roadwarrior is already making a second pot of coffee by 5
  12. Bass junkie. “Seen it right off” -bear trapper in Jeremiah Johnson
  13. Day 2: still six inches of snow on the ground......... I’ve looked out all the windows hundreds of times, still looks the same......... I shoveled the driveway and walked to the store and walked to the rock climbing wall behind the house............. I don’t know how you folks do it! Hahahahah! I’m feeling like Jack Nicholson in the shining and we aren’t 48 hours in yet. I’m hoping the roads melt a bit and I can do some bank fishing somewhere today. I could actually walk to the river if I must (it feels so weird not waking up and driving somewhere)
  14. That’s a great one!
  15. Depends on where you are fishing. I like braid for fishing in vegetation and mono for most other things. Fluorocarbon will get diving lures down deeper
  16. Sounds delicious
  17. My fiancé made sweet and sour chicken from scratch on Christmas Eve and we had venison backstraps for breakfast this morning. Thanks to a wonderful gal and my hunting friends!
  18. He sees you when you’re sleeping and knows when you’re awake.
  19. Milk and bread are probably flying off the shelves! This is my first time in 6-7 years to have significant snow to contribute to such a thread haha. We are like kids in candy stores taking pictures of everything . Even the Ohio girl is excited
  20. Took a walk around the neighborhood after we made it home, several spinouts along the drive and two more on the 1 mile walk. Saw 3 transformers blow, like green Christmas fireworks. Several power lines swinging low. The Honda Fit with front wheel drive performed well
  21. Sometimes budget whisky is good whisky . Pappy van winkle used to be cheap
