  1. The ones you bought are good to go man. You don’t need booties, you need boots. Wading boots. This is not that hard!!!
  2. And the vulture, and the snapping turtle, and the house fly, and the earthworm, and me! Fish is good food
  3. The only way to prevent it completely would be to quit fishing. It happens, say a few words and pour some out for a fallen friend. If you ate it, kudos to you because that is the respectful and delicious thing to do
  4. Yes what you got has booties (stocking feet) attached to the waders. And it’s all waterproof, the boots that go on the outside will fill up with water but it doesn’t matter because your waterproof stocking feet are inside the shoes
  5. A stocking foot is a neoprene bootie. You put wading boots (or any big shoes) on the outside of what is in the picture. They don’t have to seal to anything because the stocking foot (neoprene bootie) is waterproof Finished product looks like this. What you need to purchase is “wading boots”. I would recommend felt soles
  6. The best bait here is a skipjack herring (1-2 lbs) or gizzard shad. Best artificial is buck tail or topwater. They also love cut bait sitting ON the bottom. My Buddy got a 26 lber with a dead bluegill that was floating when the striper hit it. They are a hunger breed
  7. I hate buying tackle but I have to sometimes, mostly I just get 1/8oz round ball jig heads. I get more pleasure out of giving/throwing stuff away.
  8. I also jump along with the bass
  9. Ummmm yea........ you don’t have to look far to see it first hand. Some people can’t walk, some have Alzheimer’s and their families never sleep, some people don’t have arms or legs, yet live everyday to the fullest. They would love to trade for a lack of taste
  10. I could listen to this one on loop for a while. Good description of life in Appalachia about 2 generations ago “Apple brandy or sour mash, it don’t make a d**n to me. It’ll get there full and it’ll get there fast but it ain’t gonna get there for free”
  11. Cleats are great for land, horrible for river rocks
  12. You gotta be a little tougher than that!!!
  13. Around he most rocks are round and might as well be ice as far as slickness
  14. Make sure to wear your styrofoam armor when entering battle and the odds go down significantly
  15. That would be correct. It grips river rocks that are underwater, slides on mud like skis. I’ve done some nice “downhill” runs in them through wet leaves haha
  16. People always think I’m somebody, I guess I have a standard appearance haha. It’s always something like “oh hey (person x), how ya been?.......... oh I’m so sorry I thought you were somebody else” maybe this means I could lead a life of crime and no one would be able to pick me out of a lineup? Or does it mean everyone would mistakenly pick me out of a lineup? I have accidentally burned several of my finger prints off while messing with campfires........
  17. Have you ever gotten off work, took off your work boots, and then moments later regretted that decision??
  18. Do you have striper?? They are crazy fast
  19. That article was from 2017, it wouldn’t surprise me if they’ve lifted some of those bans. Felt has since been proven that it doesn’t transport exotics any worse than rubber. One of our recent local Trout unlimited meetings included a presentation about didymo. A group of masters students tested felt against all other soles very extensively for a couple years and their finding showed felt was no worse than anything else. The didymo prevalence was related to water chemistry in certain tailwaters, I think it was phosphorus content but I can’t recall for sure. Felt soles can prevent injury and possibly drowning and are back on shelves all over the US after initially being pulled
  20. @blanked, my advice would be to fish just like you would for largemouth in texas. They are different species but of the same genus and eat the same stuff. I’ve caught smallies with ribbit frogs over milfoil and flipping jigs into shallow brush
  21. We have seen zero of the cicadas so far, I’m guessing it’s a summer time thing. But then again they said they should emerge when the ground is like 63 degrees or something
  22. Felt soled tennis shoes would be the greatest thing in the history of all time if possible. If you ever make them I will purchase !!! They’ve done tons of studies and felt doesn’t transport exotics any more than other materials, especially didymo . They pulled felt off the shelves until some real data was established, now felt is back everywhere
  23. I work here sometimes on weekends, still getting sprayed by skunks Monday through Friday ha ha. My buddy Jon bought the business I guess a little over a year ago
