A smallmouth? That’s cool, I’ve heard of strip pit quarries with smallies but never fished one. I have recently been fishing the quarry near my house with clear water and having luck with worms on jigheads. The problem is the bluegills always biting my 6 lb mono where it touches the water . I set the hook everytime I feel it, can’t help it! Well that and the 250 swimmers paddle boards and tubes

H20 express. You’ve got to be careful with 1/0 and 2/0 but the 3/0 and up can withstand a violent hookset with 65 lb on stout fish (for 1/0 and 2/0 I use eagle claw)

Sounds like you are in a perfect area for paddle craft. Where I’m at I need paddle craft as well as a gas engine and even a boat set up for running long distance up shallow water. There are some places it’s better to launch a kayak and other places or you would never be able to fish with a kayak because of limited access points and swift currents.

so I go to a new job today and the guys crawlspace smells terrible. There was a whole bunch of junk laying around but I had a sneaking suspicion there was a dead skunk in there. They kept talking about how many times they had seen skunks walking around so I just set some live traps outside. Then the more the conversation went along he started telling me he had even been shooting at a few of them. So I asked if he hit any of them and he said he thought he might have hit one. So then I Go back into the crawlspace and may have found his target. Needless to say after that extraction I need a shower

Ironically I had a video playing in the background this morning while I was piddling around the house and it was tacticalbassin talking specifics on punching. He recommended the faster 8 to 1 ratio because of all the pitching and constant reeling in to re pitch

I saw a few different pros catch lots of 1-2 lb fish in their practice videos. They just don’t help at all at the weigh in because the fishing is so phenomenal

They are catching the mess out of them up there , I’d say strike while the iron is hot

Great video as always. Just stopped at academy and got the last silver minnow. It was 3/4 oz and gold but I got it anyway. Satisfied my thirst for a half ounce silver one with the house brand. Hopefully trying these after “work” aka spoon shopping. Also got two bags of zoom split tail trailers, one white and one chartreuse

I trolled one behind a canoe the other day while I paddle back to the ramp and a nice bass grabbed it but my line broke halfway to the lure . Guess I should’ve checked it but this thread reminds me to go to Academy and get another one

I was just posting some studies that were Easy to find because you requested them. They all come to the same conclusion that mother nature controls herself. I’ve been a part of several such studies, both sampling and writing. You do the best you can an estimate the rest. There are lots of universities with graduate programs and grant money available if you can come up with better methods for more in-depth study. I would rather draw a conclusion from extensive data than single line trolling samples

In the little creeks you fish, an 1/8 oz or 1/16 oz sinker maybe better. Or possibly even weightless

I like dragging a plastic worm on bottom when it’s hot (or cold or anything inbetween). Summer is also when I have most success with topwaters Georgia in august? I’ve felt that heat once or twice and nearly fell over dead
