  1. Thanks guys. This really helps!
  2. Hey guys! Have a question and would love your opinions on this.. When it comes to soft plastics does it really matter what BRAND you use but rather the creature you're imitating? I see a lot of people talk about Gary Yamamoto, YUM and Zoom brands and I'm finding that Zoom seems cheaper most of the time. What makes the Yamamoto brand so much better (if it is at all.) Thanks ya'll!
  3. Hey guys. New bass angler, and I've been thinking about getting a kayak to get off the bank. I have a relative who owns kayaks and I am familiar with them but he doesn't often fish from them. I know people have fish finders on their kayaks but i've never used one. Who can give me some tips on what I would need (after the kayak) to slay the large and sallies on a budget?
  4. I'm new brother. I don't bass fish. That's why I'm asking you guys..
  5. Good advice guys. This is the kind of feedback i'm looking for!

    Colors

Hey guys, new to bass fishing and I've done some research on here but no one can really agree on what colors to use. I want to just see if i have this right so far: Clear water = natural baitfish/craw colors. Semi-Merky water = chartreuse colors. Merky water/Night = black/dark colors (to create silhouette.) Now, just from common sense fishing, I understand the natural colors for clear water and dark colors when dark or merky water, but can someone shed a little more light on when the chartreuse or fire tiger need to be used? Thanks guys.
  7. I'm from southwest Ohio and I've always been told that you can catch native brookies in the Mad River from Dayton to Urbana. Clear Creek Metro Park near columbus has the Clear Creek running through it and I have buddies that have fly-fished there and caught browns. The southeast part of Ohio around Athens have some streams that have trout but the creeks are small, therefore very small fish. I have always wanted to try these places but I recently moved to Arizona and never got the opportunity. Hope this helps a little, and good luck!
  8. Hey all! New to this site, obviously, wanted to introduce myself. I'm 23 years old from Dayton, Ohio. I've been fishing since I was around 5-6 years old with my old man, catching nothing but bluegill and the occasional channel cat and/or largemouth on a simple hook, split shot and snap bobber. Wasn't until I was around 20 years old when I really started getting into fishing and primarily went for the big cats (and with decent success.) I pretty dedicated my entire fishing time with just fishing for cats and nothing else but as a lot of you may know, cat-fishing can be boring with the waiting game. I started to branch out and tried to catch bluegill for bait fish and found that it was pretty enjoyable and would fish for gills and crappies while waiting for the cats to bite. However, good buddies of mine LOVE to fish for largemouths and I wanted to learn how to fish for them. So I started to fish for them but no luck. I would ask friends, relatives and random people at the ponds for advice and I still could never catch any bass. Discouraged, I stuck with the cat fishing and gave up on bass. But even after almost completely giving up I am still intrigued by these beautiful fish. So I join this forum to gain knowledge and hopefully get some awesome advice from you seasoned bass anglers. Any advice helps and I really appreciate it! Thanks guys.
