  1. I will definitely check that rod out, thank you!
  2. I know the struggle haha, but i don't get to test rods very often or at all because the closest Cabela's is over 2 hours away and the closest BPS is almost 4. Sure we have Dick's and stuff but they don't carry that many rods from different companies. The last time I went to Dick's they didn't even have St Croix there.
  3. I would probably be doing more pitching up here. Most of the shoreline cover is grass and laydowns. Most likely 1/4 oz to 1 oz at the heaviest. Probably more grass and maybe some pads honestly. Thanks for the advice!
  4. I'm looking into getting myself a setup that is specific for flipping and pitching. I'm getting mixed opinions on whether to get a heavy power or a medium heavy power rod, and whether to get a mod-fast action or a fast to extra fast action. The cover up here in the North isn't as thick as down south and was wondering if any other Northern fisherman could give me some examples of the rods they use for this technique up here?
  5. Topwater fishing is definitely not your normal bass fishing with rubber worms. A lot of it does vary on location. For instance in PA i do extremely well on poppers and walking baits especially at dawn or dusk, but working these lures down weedlines has produced fish for me at all times of day. I've never really got a response on the hollow bodied lures up here though. I mean, I catch fish on them, but normally if I'm gonna fish topwater I'm throwing a Heddon One Knocker Spook, an X-Rap Popper, or a Jitterbug. Try different cadences for the lures as well you'd be surprised how a slightly different action on a topwater could change your entire day of fishing. Hope this helps!
  6. Yeah that sounds really good, pretty sure I met one of the guys fishing that circuit at the Conemaugh Dam one night, but he couldn't remember what the group was called. I'm looking at joining for the 2017 season getting my stuff ready throughout the winter. If you could dm me with further information it would be great! Thank you!
  7. I'm looking to start tournament fishing, and haven't found any leads on tournaments in this region. I'm willing to travel to bordering states for tournaments as well. If anyone has any information or leads on tournaments in the Western PA region please let me know, it would be much appreciated!
