  1. thank you both!! Got mine ordered
  2. I noticed that somewhere along the way I lost the little screw in cap on the other side of the handle for my President 30 spinning reel. Anyone know how I can get a replacement? Thanks in advance,
  3. Thank you all for your advice and recommendations!
  4. I have been obsessing with creek fishing and my 5' ugly stick with a pretty crappy spinning reel isn't cutting it. Do you think this is a good deal and would it worked paired with a pleuger president 30? https://www.tacticalwholesalers.com/Daiwa-Laguna-Rods-Spinning-7-UL-F-LAG702ULFS_p_132837.html Thanks in advance Barry
  5. It's a Chevy Malibu 2014 I believe
  6. My local lake is 6500 sq feet and has threadfin shad. I've seen small 5 foot circles with shad swimming in circles and they seem to just sit there but if you watch long enough they move slowly. At the same lake, one time I stopped to fish at an access point up a creek channel from the lake.. I was amazed to walk up on this 40 foot wide creek and see thousands of small fish swimming in a large circle.. It filled the entire creek. I immediately put on a small shad crankbait, and every cast I could feel the bait (or line) bumping these baitfish. This was 3 or 4 years ago and I wish I could recall what time of year it was but I'm assuming it was fall. I never caught a fish though fishing through all those baitfish.
  7. ok never heard that term, thank you!
  8. What do you mean by "fly-lining" ?
  9. Hello, I will soon be travelling to Lake Guntersville AL. that is about a 6 hour drive. I have a Tahoe and trailer I usually carry my Kayak to local Arkansas lakes on, but this time i will be riding with the wife in a car. We're looking around for some kind of rack to car-top the kayak on. Any thoughts on what I should buy for that? Thanks, Barry
  10. WeedWhacker, yea I read that report sometimes but failed to last week! I just felt like I have been where they aren't.. but that's just a feeling. It seemed to me they'd be by the shore next to the deepest parts.
  11. This summer has been hard, I fish Lake Conway AR and the last 5 times I've been I've been skunked. Today I got on the water about 4pm and fished till dark. I specifically went to one of the deepest spots I know of.. There is a creek channel under a bridge about 12 ft deep. There is small sections of rip-rap under the bridge and weedy shore-lines on either side. Water goes from 12ft to 3ft as you move out of the channel and further down the banks. I fished the entire area.. bridge pilons, riprap, and nearby shore lines + a few scattered docs nearby. Water temperature was high 70's a couple weeks ago but a warm spell has brought it back up to 86 degrees this afternoon. Shad is predominant forage, from a Kayak I cannot look far and wide in a 6700 sq ft lake for shad, but I didn't believe they'd be in the creeks yet with the water temp still that high. I fished a 3 inch shad money paddle tail with a weighted 3' hook and I also drop shotted mostly with a nose hooked zoom fluke jr in ice color. Not a single bite besides what I believe were a couple blue gill taps Any suggestions on what I should have done different?
  12. This may sound dumb, but I was fishing this afternoon and recalled this thread. I have to completely readjust my left hand (holding the reel instead of the rod) to get the line close enough to apply my finger for feeling bites. On spinning gear I have to literally grab the line with my right hand. Is this how you do this or am I doing it wrong?
  13. I read that the free sliding weight on a fluke style bait with a twitch return will cause the bait to 'pivot' more erratically from side to side on the twitch.
  14. A Berkeley lightning shock (spinning) can be had for < 20 shipped if you catch the right holiday promo. Mine just came in (from FFO - BF sale 16 bucks) and I took it out in the cold on Saturday, second cast LMB It is my new favorite rod! I use Neds a lot this summer and cannot wait to try one on this new rig.
  15. Too lazy for pictures, but I got: President 30 Spinning reel Berkeley lightning 7' spinning rod (16 bucks!) 3 pack of Rebel Pop'Rs Some bitsy bugs and some baby craw trailers I ordered a Gander mountain Vortex casting rod at a great price but they cancelled my order. I opted to "ship to local store" then they cancelled the order saying "that store doesn't have the rod in stock".. That was why I had them ship to store lol.. oh well.
  16. Got my popcorn and watching this one ?
  17. I have a Wilderness Systems Ride 135.. Even though almost everyone else says you can stand up in it.. I find it very unsettling. I plan to try some more when the water is warm next year. So I sit for now, learn to roll cast (spinning rod or baitcaster).. It's pretty easy to learn and you will get just as good as pitching in my opinion doing that. If you google it make sure it's not fly fishing roll cast, that's not same thing I use a Hummingbird 581i HD Down Imager .. Still getting used to using it but I can see baitfish and cover/structure with it. Don't know if you have a rudder but I love mine, helps in a lot of situations to position on the move without hands. Techniques: I drop-shot shallow, and do a lot of finesse type fishing. I do a lot of small crank fishing too..
  18. Sounds like I'll have to try both! Thanks everyone!
  19. I searched this but didn't see any matches. I just got in a triple pack of Rebel Pop R's They are P60 1/4 oz. To get a good presentation should I use a medium spinning rod or a medium heavy baitcasting rod? (Or some other setup is optimal?) Thanks all!!
  20. I only fished from June - present this year but here are mine in order of most confirmed bites / caught fish: 1) Roboworm Desert Craw 4.5" drop-shotted in shallow water 2) Jointed Shad-Rap 1/4 oz I believe 3) Cotton Cordell Super Spot (caught the two biggest bass of the year (around 3lbs each) in one day.. Lost lure next trip 4) 5" GYCB Senko watermelon/black and watermelon/red flake (weightless and wacky) 5) Z-man Ned rig set-up, 1/8 oz. (most variety of fish award: Bass, crappie, Freshwater Drum, Rock bass) 6) Rebel Big/Wee Craw Crankbait (All smallmouth, 1 LMB, 2 Ozark Red-Eye Bass) Honorable mention goes to Strike King 4.5" watermelon tube, while I only fished it for an hour all year it did catch me a 3.9lb Channel Catfish yesterday Total LMB bass 43, Smallmouth 3 Lures that are loved by many but I could not catch a single fish in 2016: 1) Any Chatterbait 2) Any Frog 3) Any spinnerbait
  21. 1. Fish more 2. Enhance rigging on kayak, more than 2 rod holders, better anchor line (twine doesn't cut it), tool holsters, etc. 3. Catch FIRST fish in offshore structure. 4. Learn how to use depth finder and brains to find #3 5. STOP trying every technique and presentation I've learned about haphazardly and focusing on one 6. Get better at not getting hung up on wood/sticks/logs/trees 7. Wear my PFD always and not just sometimes 8. Start logging my fishing trips That's about all I got right now
  22. Those are beautiful fish! Are the colorful ones always female? That seems opposite of other colorful critters.
  23. I got out from noon till dark. 56 degrees in air and 55 degrees in water. A few bites but only one catch. 2.5 lbs. Sure beats working!!!!
  24. I imagine the tube keeps the swivel from going up the business end of the main hook, similar to below but with a swivel/blade rather than the trailer hook.
