  1. Almost made it though the weekend without purchasing anything. Wound up using the DSG 25% off everything Black Friday sale to get 7 packs of 1/8 oz Berkley half head jig heads for 20 bucks and free shipping. 49 jigheads for Ned Rigs. Stocking up for the 2019 season.
  2. I use mono for most presentations. My motto is: Mono, if your grandpappy didn’t use it you would have never learned how to fish.
  3. Had no discretionary income this year for Black Friday fishing shopping so I would have stayed home. I went shopping for family members instead and got some great deals. I made sure to stay away from any places or isles that sold fishing equipment
  4. Missed it. Back to full price ?
  5. Happy Thanksgiving to all my Bassresource family. I am thankful for all the posts, advice, knowledge and encouragement I have received here over the years.
  6. Turns on pretty quick, 3-4 seconds at most. 15% coupon off on Amazon right now. You get the scale and a gripper.
  7. Happy Thanksgiving!
  8. Great choice. I have the ML spinning version as a dedicated Ned Rig rod. I caught a 3lb Channel Cat on it paired with a size 1500 Kastking Sharky II reel. It is sensitive and stong. Looks great with the Winn grip. Overall I am pleased with it. Can’t beat it at the sale price. I have seen it go as low as half price.

  10. Might be awhile. 2019 season seems so far away with all the white stuff we are getting today. My initial impressions are positive. I tested it a few times and it gave accurate readings each time hanging a 1 pound bag of coffee from it. It is easy to zero out with the gripper hanging from it. The memory works fine and can store 9 weights. I like that you can hold it from the ring on top or the textured grips on the side. The backlight display is not too bright but makes reading the numbers easy. It takes one of those CR2032 flat batteries and the plate to access the battery has an "O" ring seal. I have not tested the waterproof aspect of this scale. It does appear to be able to withstand a splash or two and that's really what I was looking for because my former scale did not. It seems durable but I wouldn't want to drop it to many times.
  11. Pop? I call it a soder.
  12. My Kastking haul came in this week. Had to take advantage of some of the sales they had going on. Getting stocked up for the 2019 season. The scale is waterproof and floats. After my last scale got wet it started acting up so replacing it was a priority. The fact that this new one floats is one less thing I have to worry about when kayak fishing.
  13. If you can pull it off the Sharky III is a fantastic reel at its price point.
  14. Or anglers that never grew up The guys who started Kastking are marketing majors from Syracuse University. The name, look and features of this reel appeal to the inner child of a lot of anglers. I think the price point in the $50 range is pretty good. Nice paint job instead of that matte finish you get with some of the big names budget reels at higher price points. Rubber cork knobs, clickable tension knob, lube port and that friction reducing guide. Lots of bells and whistles for a reel at that price.
  15. I own the Lew's Tournament MB baitcaster. It is my favorite baitcaster at the moment. It's got a lot going for it especially if you can get it around the $100 price range. You won't go wrong if you choose this reel.
  16. The good thing about the pistachios in the shell is, the act of taking them out of the shell slows me down. I could eat a bag of shelled pistachios in 1 minute flat. I have no willpower when it comes to pistachios.
  17. From the flyer I got in the mail it is 25% off everything, in store and online. In-store they have some doorbuster stuff for 80% off.
  18. Oh heck yeah! These are going on my X-mas wish list. I wear Crocs year round as my slippers. The classic for all but the coldest months, then it's the mammoth. These will replace my mammoths.
  19. I get mine at the local Walmart. They carry a decent amount of Zoom baits. a Fat Albert grub on a ball head jig dragged and hopped along the bottom is a confidence bait of mine.
  20. Or $300 for a kayak, or $150 for a used Canoe. You will love getting out on the water and the freedom it gives you from bank fishing.
  21. So happy you were able to take advantage of this. It was a fantastic price for this reel. The lowest I had seen it for was $56 a few weeks ago. I had to fight the urge to buy one myself. I kept telling myself I have a Lew's LFS baitcaster that hasn't gotten wet yet and I need a lot of fishing accessories before I buy another reel.
  22. I have spent a lot of money on stupid things in my life. When I was younger I blew a lot of money playing cards. Could have bought a nice boat back then with that chunk of change. You could always start smaller, like a Jon Boat with a small horsepower motor. Like my economy car gets me from point A to point B a smaller, cheaper option will get you on the water, fishing, just not in style. Keep in mind the other costs of owning a boat that will eat into that $1300 a month disposable income. Storage and or dock fees, fuel, maintenance, etc.
  23. My local Walmart actually carries them. They do attract an awful lot of Chain Pickerel attention in my area.
  24. I am down to one of those Storm swimbaits. Thanks for reminding me to replenish.
  25. I fished 95% of the 2018 season in the same stretch of the Hudson River on the banks for Smallmouth Bass. I caught close to 400 fish this season, around 350 of them were Smallmouth Bass. My best catches were: 4.01 3.81 3.29 3.14 Here is the 4.01 Most of the SMB I caught were in the 1 pound range. It was a dismal year for Largemouth Bass catches. I didn't target them much so my biggest LMB was under 3 pounds. I was only able to get out on the kayak twice. I am hoping to be out more next season. My shoulder is almost 100% but my back is still bothering me.
