  1. I don't use them anymore. There main purpose for me was not preventing line twist but for ease of swapping lures. Now I cut off the old lure and tie on the new one with a fresh knot. Leaving a snap swivel on all day without retying is asking for a lost lure.
  2. Yes. The 500 is more of an ultralight reel. The 2000 holds double the amount of line and is an all around good size for Bass, ned rigs and dropshotting. I would use the 500 with 4# line for Trout fishing.
  3. Oh yes it is. Big kids like me like it as well.
  4. Kastking Centron is the best reel, that costs less than $30 I have ever used. A 500 or 2000 size would be great for panfish.
  5. Been using Ardent Reel Butter oil. I bought a bottle of Lucas fishing reel oil for when that runs out
  6. PB Smallmouth Bass was caught at 9:40am PB Largemouth was sometime around 11am That's my best guess as it was a long time ago.
  7. That's really what it's all about. Finding the best bang for the buck. I try and find that sweet spot between quality and affordability. Gear that is at a good price but performs and lasts longer than that price point would have you believe. Only lately have I been upgrading my gear to higher quality and higher priced options. I still purchased those on sale being the frugal fisherman I am.
  8. Pat's fans should always be grateful to the Jets. If NY Jet linebacker, Mo Lewis didn't level Drew Bledsoe, Brady would have never come off the bench and start your dynasty. And yes that's my graveyard of hopes and dreams that the Jets will win another Superbowl in my lifetime.
  9. LOL I know, it was my maiden voyage in the yak. Every time I post this pic I put in the disclaimer that I have since been using the paddle correctly. I forgot this time.
  10. Can you get any lower in that seat? You look like you are ready to use that kayak on the luge.
  11. It might be time to start taking a younger relative or friend fishing. No gas, food or beverage money is needed you will supply that. The way they can pay you back for the "free" guided fishing trip is to launch your boat for you.
  12. Forgot to add that I use reel covers as well. Thanks for the reminder. Helps protect the reel against scratches during transport.
  13. I covered how I transport my two rods for kayak fishing in my first post. I am a minimalist when it comes to carrying gear and I don't have an expensive kayak that holds lots of rods. The rod socks and lure wraps protect the guides and blanks of my rods when transporting them. The two rods work for me. Just cut and tie lures as needed.
  14. There are days I pray my family would make home somewhere else. Somewhere warmer I can fish year round preferably . I feel your pain. There is a season...
  15. Are we are talking a day trip bank fishing or kayaking? If that's the case I take 2 rigs, 1 spinning, 1 baitcasting. Both combos are ready to go with a Whopper Plopper on the caster covered by a lure wrap and the rod covered by a rod sock. The spinning combo usually has a finesse wide gap hook ready for a wacky rigged stick bait and the rod is covered by a rod sock. Both rods fit right down the middle of my sedan with one of the back seats folded down to allow access to the trunk. On longer trips I bring 2 piece rods. Those go in a rod bag I have and the bag is then placed in my car trunk. The reels I take go in a reel bag from Cabelas I have had for years. It has removable dividers for customizable storage.
  16. I am a sucker when it comes to some of the bells and whistles they added to the Megajaws. Rubber cork knobs, clickable tension knob, that long cast vortex line guide (if it works), lube port and drainage holes. Lots of extras you don't find on the Spartacus. If the mag brakes are as good or better than the Speed Demon I would be very happy.
  17. Sounds like Zebco Omnicast.
  18. Some folks have their mind made up on both sides of this debate. Having owned and used Kastking reels my experience is they are higher quality than their price would have you believe. Same for their rods. I like my Assassin and Spartacus way more than I do my Black Max. I know exactly why the Fuego is being recommended repeatedly in this thread. It's a great reel at a great price. Comparing it's sale price to the full price of another reel happens all the time and is unfair. $70 to $26 is a big difference in my wallet and sounds like a true comparison of price.
  19. There was a time when I believed the opposite was true. However time has shown that Belichick can be successful without Brady. He has gone 13-6 in 19 games without Brady since Brady became the starter over Bledsoe. The team has a winning record the few times Brady has been down. There is no doubt the two of them together is something magical. My hope is one of them retires...soon, like after this season soon so we can put these thoughts to the test.
  20. Another vote for the Zoom FA. I rig mine on a ball head jig exposing the hook. I get hung up a bit but I have fewer misses.
  21. -11 on the ride to work this morning. Wish I had thought to take a pic of the car temp reading.
  22. You just missed a sale last week on that Rod. I try to avoid paying full price on any rod or reel. Kastking stuff regularly goes on sale on Amazon and Ebay. Comparing the full price of the Kastking reel to a $100 reel on sale for $70 is often done on these kind of threads. I have seen the Megajaws on sale for below $50 and it's a steal at that price.
  23. Keep hoping, ain’t gonna happen. As a NY Jet fan I stick pins in my Brady voodoo doll twice a year, thrice if he makes it to the bowl and nothing happens to him. In fact I think it makes him stronger!
  24. Mine as well. Good year to be from Beantown, first the Sox, then the Pats. How those Bruins and Celtics doing?
  25. Well as usual my predictions are flawed. Bree’s and Brady not this year. Hopefully my AFC prediction goes sour as well. Rams Chiefs would be an infinitely better super bowl
