  1. Yum Dingers are perfect for shallow water. They tend to sink slower than Senko's. I love Yum Dingers, I use 3"-5" sizes for all sorts of rigs. Great bait at a great price.
  2. I believe you are talking about the Lew's Mach 2 I have a Mach 2 size 100 reel for Trout and Panfish. Very light and durable aluminum framed reel. One of my favorites. Fishing for Bluegill I landed a 3 and a half pound Smallmouth using this reel spooled with 6# line
  3. That's why this time of year is great. Clearance Sales and Spring Fishing Sales! Stock up now!
  4. I doubt it. I used a bottle of it for a whole year of fishing and had no issues. I have been using Reel Snot more than KVD lately. Reel Snot advertises as a line and reel lube.
  5. I have both a canoe and a kayak. I prefer the kayak. The kayak is much more stable, easier to maneuver, faster and everything I store in it is easy to reach.
  6. My in-laws are vacationing at Gatlinburg this week. Nice time to visit before the summer crowds.
  7. The Walmart near me finally has some fishing gear in the clearance section. Nothing compared to last years choices or price drops yet. I walked out with a Rebel crawfish crankbait for $3 They had Berkley Lightning Rod Shocks (old cork handle models) for $30 and 2 Abu Garcia Vengeance spinning rod MH 6',6" version for $25
  8. I agree. The few issues I had with any of my dozen plus Kastking reels and rods were solved with an email to their service department. They even vent sent me some free stuff for the inconvenience. BTW I watch Brett’s vid on Facebook about the Bassinator reel. It a dual SPEED baitcaster?!!! Kastking used to have the Triton which was a 2 speed spinning reel. This is their first 2 speed baitcaster.
  9. Centrifugal brakes 2 on 2 off (the 3 and 9 off if you think of the four brakes as a clock face) Magnetic brakes on 7 to start. Go lower 1 click at a time each cast until you backlash then go up one from there. I find Somewhere between 3 and 5 to be a sweet spot for me when casting lures like a Whopper Plopper 90
  10. I used Reel Snot the entire 2018 season with no issues. Sprayed it on my line as I spooled it. From there I would give a spray the night before a fishing trip. I am careful to wipe off any excess liquid on my reel frame after application. It is definitely oily stuff. I can feel the difference on my line between it and KVD Line and Lure conditioner.
  11. Does this mean the company that shall not be named is back in good graces with Bass Resource or at least has a truce?
  12. I am a big fan of their spinning reels. So many folks ask about their baitcasters but IMO Kastking spinning reels are the superior product. The Kastking Sharky 3 is one of the best spinning reels I own.
  13. Hoping I can fish soon. Hudson River is frozen in these parts right now and 2” of snow tomorrow combined with 10+ Sunday night make the prognosis grim...
  14. I'd be more worried about Anacondas...
  15. Great idea. They look like they could cut the barb off a hook if needed. I use Kastking scissors. I bought their pliers, fish grippers and scale as well. The scissors are pricy and no better than the Rapala super line scissors but come with a nice sheath. My OCD kicked in as I wanted all my tools to match that bright orange they are known for.
  16. It is an Otter that was hanging around the resort we were staying at last week. He was sniffing around my tackle bag. We even fed him freshly caught Bluegill, videotaped it as well
  17. Good marketing strategy if they are targeting the younger demographic. Plenty of companies are doing this, Lews, 13 fishing and Favorite come to mind, with their colors and designs aimed at the young angler (Or big kids like me)
  18. If you are interested they are on sale now at BPS for $4.68
  19. I like the Berkley Warpig for it's blunt nose design. It's almost like fishing a squarebill the way it bounces off of cover. I like to fish it deep but it is effective due to it's design in shallow water as well.
  20. Nice fish. I think it might be time for you to carry a scale and tape measure.
  21. I have these. The pouch clips to belt. The bungee clips to my belt loop. They are always ready when I need them. Bungee keeps them from getting lost. I also have a spot to store them externally on my tackle bag so they are quickly retrieved when needed. You can see them in the pic below:
  22. This is good news indeed. I noticed this the other day. They are carrying the Favorite brand of rods now as well. I am eager to be able to see both of these brands in person.
  23. about 6" of snowfall in my parts overnight. More to come on Saturday. March coming in like a lion...
  24. Horrible name. Don't these companies google the names they want to give their reels. At least to see if it's on Urban Dictionary.
  25. Dual brakes. It's rare I get a backlash with this reel. 100% of the time I do it's my fault.
