  1. My Lew’s Tournament MB can handle fishing lighter weights.
  2. My spare spools arrived yesterday from Lew’s. Mach 2, Mach Crush and Custom Pro spools. I am ready for the 2019 season
  3. The color coded baitcast models are the Royal Legend Elite and the Megajaws. They are not entry level Kastking reels as those would be the Royal Legend and Spartacus. I find Kastking reels to look and perform higher than their price point would have you believe. Try and get them when they on sale as their are better options at their full retail value.
  4. Get some actual paddle time in kayaks by renting or going to demo days at local outfitters. At that point make a list of the things you liked about each one. Put a check mark next to anything that is a must have for you. Then try to find a kayak in your price range that meets most of the things on your list. I like a stake out pole more than an anchor. I have a DIY version but I plan on upgrading this year. A fish depending on it's size can pull your kayak a little or a lot. Shouldn't be a big deal on a pond or small lake.
  5. Baitcaster: Lew's Tournament MB Spinning: Lew's Custom Pro Speed Spin
  6. Ned rig Float and fly Suspending jerkbait
  7. Thanks for the info. If anyone asks I am targeting catfish and suckers. Can't help if a Bass bites my line. Catfish and suckers. That's all that's in the area at this time of the year. Trout are stocked mid-April around here.
  8. I'll be venturing out to my local river in the next week or two. My first choice at this time of the year would be live bait. Worms on a split shot rig thrown to deep pools or drifted downstream seem to work best after the ice first melts. I usually don't have luck with artificial bait until sometime in April.
  9. Stay safe!
  10. Awesome! Isn't this your second brush with fame? I seem to recall you were in a Googan Squad video as well.
  11. I prefer a cot. I have a Coleman one that doubles as a lounge chair. I can raise the top portion so I can sleep with my head in an elevated position. I have tried foam and inflatable pads and neither worked for me. It still felt to much like sleeping on the ground. As I am getting older the thought of voluntarily sleeping on the ground is losing it's appeal.
  12. I had a similar situation. My Lews Custom Pro Speed Spin came directly from Bass Pro Shops. I was never contacted but it bothered me enough that I will only purchase items from Ebay through sellers like American Legacy Fishing in the future.
  13. Excellent! If you learn anything from these forums it's to never pay full retail price on a reel. Good luck with your new reel.
  14. Sound advice. Thanks.
  15. Cut bait (shad or bluegill) works well. For Channel Cats in my area I like a ball of worms on a hook. I thread three of them on one hook cast them out on a slip sinker rig.
  16. Felicity Huffman and her husband Bill Macy are involved as well. Desperate and Shameless I tell you...
  17. My friend caught this Catfish near Orlando Florida in a residential pond. I am having trouble helping him identify the type of Catfish it is. I believe it is one of those walking catfish as it's top fin runs all the way down it's body and the rounded tailfin. Anyone have any idea what kind of catfish this is?
  18. They usually have some fishing gear. Mine has Senkos for $1 less than Walmart, Sufix Elite line for half off and Rapala lures for $4.99 Check their website for your local flyers by entering your zip code. Sometimes they have fishing stuff advertised.
  19. I purchased the spinning rod for $50 during a Tackle Warehouse closeout. It's a nice little rod. Not as sensitive as my Powell Max but it's close.
  20. Under $100, Lew's Mach II Speed Spin. Over $100 Lew's Custom Pro Speed Spin.
  21. Rudeness is becoming the norm nowadays. As we raise a generation that texts rather than communicate by looking someone in the eye it is only going to get worse. The part of the Lord’s Prayer, “As we forgive those who trespass against us” has become my manta. I mumble it under my breath a lot while driving, in stores and while fishing.
  22. @A-Jay sums it up nicely. Take a $20 to $30 reel and ask yourself what does the company that makes it have to sacrifice to get the cost that low. A reel can have a Steez body but have a hamster on a wheel under the hood...
  23. A broken rod if repaired is still broke in my mind. Time to buy a new one if it is not under warranty anymore IMO
  24. DEET, sunscreen, cat and human scents?
  25. Spinning reels I cinch the line under the line keeper usually located on the spool. If the reel doesn’t have one I use a piece of waterproof adhesive tape to hold it down. Baitcasting reels I use the waterproof adhesive tape to hold the line down on the spool. If I want to keep the line through the line guide I tie a rubber band to the end of the line and reel it in until the band is snug to the guide. I can then wrap the band around the reel foot. If the line is through the rod guides the rubber band method is a good choice. It won’t fit through the top guide.
