  1. I’m a dummy as well. 40 degree air temps, 15 mph winds with 30-40 mph gusts and I was out there. Freezing my *bleep* off I was able to hook one Trout but he shook the hook. Guy next to me landed a limit with butterworms on a float rig. In fact the Trout I hooked was with one of those worms he lent me. I got schooled today. And a chill from the wind I have not been able to shake yet.
  2. 5lbs of peanut butter! I eat the stuff 5 days a week and that would last me a long time.
  3. Jif is good stuff. Much more of a peanut flavor than other brands IMO. The whipped Jif is great for dipping apple slices into for a snack. The new Jif Power Up bars and granola clusters are awesome. A peanut butter ball rolled over granola, so gooooood!
  4. in-line spinners have treble hooks, never fished an in-line spinner? Try a Strike King Red Eye Shad or a Bill Lewis Rat-L-Trap as your first crank. Classic lures that work. Straight retrieve over grass tops or yo-yo retrieve in open water.
  5. That's a NY state of mind alright. It was the part of the post that stood out the most to me. No way I am handing my keys over to a stranger. I'd ask you to get my backlash out instead. And when I hand over my rod my other hand would be by the knife I have clipped to my pocket.
  6. Lew’s Mach II Speed Spin MH2 100 size spinning reel is 30” per turn as an option. $79.99 full retail price, I got mine on sale for $55
  7. That review was in January. The vid posted on YouTube from Realistic Fishing was 2 weeks ago. Still a sketchy place. I wouldn't deal with them. Better safe than sorry.
  8. I have seen YouTube reviews where only half the baits were received. After a complaint email the company sent the proper amount and let him keep what he already got. They used to take months to ship their orders. That issue seems to have been resolved.
  9. My suggestion is the Lew's Mach II Metal Speed Spin size 100 spinning reel. This is my second season with this reel and it is a workhorse. I use it for Trout fishing on a light action rod. I have caught everything from Trout, panfish, 14"+ Chain Pickerel and a Smallmouth Bass just shy of 4lbs on it. Best of all it has an Aluminum body and Winn Grip knob. One of my favorite things to throw on it is a Panther Martin inline Spinner. No issues getting the blade spinning with it's 6.2:1 gear ratio.
  10. Another great multi species day. 12 fish in total including 2 Largemouth. They are getting bigger. Caught a pounder on a Dinger. Sadly it’s back to work tomorrow and back to fishing on Googan Saturday’s.
  11. How many species of freshwater fish have you caught in one fishing session? I believe I hit my record today of 5 species. All caught on night crawlers and Yum Dingers. Brook Trout, Pumpkinseed and Perch caught on night crawlers. Chain Pickerel and Largemouth Bass caught on Yum Dingers. All in a 3 hour fishing trip.
  12. Would you please pass the jelly!! Smuckers Goober and Grape is great. No mixing and you only have to use one knife and spread on both bread slices.
  13. The weather was perfect today. Had the day off and took advantage of it. Spent the morning fishing and the afternoon was yard work time. It was a multi species day. 13 fish, 3 Sunfish, 3 Perch, 6 Trout (all released) second time this year I would have limited out. And the last fish was a Largemouth. Nice to see some Bass action again.
  14. First New York Largemouth of 2019 for me! The pond Bass have finally come out of hibernation. I was out for Trout with a size 100 reel, 4# mono and a light action pole. Had a worm threaded on a size 6 Aberdeen hook. Saw this girl hanging by some cover with my polarized glasses. Tossed it about a foot and a half away and she shot out and slammed the worm. A nice little fight on the Trout and panfish gear for sure.
  15. The guy has been doing this for years and shows no remorse. Sounds like he might even do it again... Fines are supposed to be a deterrent to crime. When they are not working stiffer penalties up to and including jail time need to be considered.
  16. I have both. Like my triumph better.
  17. I only have the Tournament MB. It is one of the best reels I have handled. Solid, dependable reel with lots of bells and whistles. Add Lew’s stellar customer service and the choice is easy.
  18. Woo! tungsten is a good alternative. I also wait for Strike King tungsten to go on clearance at Walmart
  19. This diagram is the best I could find to show the method. before turning your hand make make sure to squeeze and hold the device so your hook shank is in the upside down “U” shaped recessed area. Like Tom mentioned this remover is great for fish with smaller mouths than a LMB. I can get those out by hand or pliers.
  20. Saturday was a wash out. Cold and rainy day caused river flood alerts around here. Easter Sunday started off with mid 40’s air temps but got into the 70’s. I was able to get a short fishing session before having to leave for Easter festivities. Got three stocked Brook Trout, all on live crawlers at a local pond. Good thing was I finally saw Bluegill cruising the banks. It won’t be long until the Bass action heats up there at least.
  21. I got the field and stream version of this hook remover this week. This thing flat out works! Where has it been all my life! Caught 3 Trout today and wasn’t planning on keeping any. 2 of the Trout were hooked deep so I used this device. Slide The devices hook down the line until you get to your hook. Squeeze the device until the hook shank is in the recessed area, give a twist and hook comes right out. Both Trout released safely.
  22. I like Winn Grips. I know how to repair cork handles that I got a hook in. I guess I could re-wrap a Winn grip that gets damaged. Never could figure out how to repair EVA.
  23. I have the Lew’s Carbon Fire combo. Bought separately I can say I love the ML rod. The reel is decent. Like the handle and the rubber coating on it that resists scratches. It doesn’t feel as durable as my other Lew’s reels though. It’s a nice Ned and drop shot combo. I also like the new Lew’s Xfinity combos that Walmart sells. They have a $60 (green) and a $70 (orange) combo. The reels feel solid and have the nice Winn grip knobs. I would have bought the orange combo over the Carbon Fire if it was available back then.
  24. I am loving my rods with Winn Grip handles. They sell Winn Grip wraps I might get them for some of my older cork rods. For those that are using cork sealer for the first time. Go easy. One light coat is all you need. Another coat is not necessary and does nothing to help.
  25. Everyone wants to be like Mike. Buy his shoes and you can play basketball just like him. Fish like Ike, buy his stuff and you can. We are conditioned through advertising to associate the gear and clothing, athletes, TV and movie stars use and wear with status and prestige. Companies bank on this and that’s how they make their money.
