  1. Why is it called “taking a dump” shouldn’t it be called “leaving a dump”?
  2. In my neck of the woods Green Pumpkin colored baits rule! Nothing else comes close.
  3. Yep! Even has a sticker on the package says what hooks and techniques to use with this bait, Number one is dropshot. IMO this bait is a bit heavier than I like for dropshotting. In waters with little current it will not float and just lay parallel with your line. I find Roboworms and Dreamshots much better for dropshot fishing.
  4. My earliest fishing memory was a "snippet" as @WRB put it. I was around 5 years old fishing at an upstate reservoir with a spincast setup. I remember this because I caught a Sunfish and my dad helped me land it. He then got in trouble with a Ranger because we were fishing a reservoir and he didn't have a reservoir license just a fishing license. Back then you had to pay your fine on the spot and he didn't have cash on him for the fine. The judge, after a lot of back and forth, decided to let us go home and pay the fine by check in the mail.
  5. I catch what the water will give me. I love catching new species. I don't micro-fish though. I have no desire to catch a guppy unless it is big enough to take a size 6 Aberdeen hook.
  6. If Oranges are called Oranges because they are orange colored, why don't we call Limes "Greens" and Lemons "Yellows"? That's quite the mugshot. I don't think the employee minded her pouring alcohol in his mouth.
  7. My thoughts exactly. I fish for sport. Catch, photo and release. I get my fish to eat from the supermarket. Hunting for sport, a trophy head or rug from the animal is not in me. Hunt, photo and release is not available in the hunting world, unless you use a tranquilizer gun...
  8. Why do they call it a "Drive Through" when you have to stop?
  9. Lews American Hero Camo Speed Spin. Buying the reel supports a great cause as well.
  10. Looking forward to Picard. I wasn't sold on it until the second trailer.
  11. Keeping the rod tip down is the best insurance against jumps. Moving it to the right or left while down helps sometimes change the direction the Bass is swimming and prevents jumps. Or you could do like the pros and YouTubers and horse them in to the point they are water skiing all the way to you.
  12. Why does the sun darken our skin but lighten our hair?
  13. In the clear water rivers I fish I find that my translucent bluegill whopper plopper does best on sunny days. Overcast and I am throwing a bone or loon color. Something about the sun going through the clear baits seems to attract a bite on bright days. I am having a lot of success this year with the Yo-Zuri 3DB prism baits. All three (Prop, popper and square lip) clear baits have been doing well on bluebird sky days.
  14. Why is it still called “skinny dipping” when fat people swim naked?
  15. If corn oil is made from corn and vegetable oil is made from vegetables. What is baby oil made from?
  16. It's not necessary. I fish Trout Magnet jigs on Stren, P-Line, Sufix Promix to Kastking Flourokote lines from 4lb - 6lb range.
  17. My current Ned Rig rods are the Lew's Mach II Speed Stick 6',7" ML and the Favorite Balance 7',3" ML Out of the two I like the Favorite Balance, it is stiffer than the Mach II. The longer pole enables me to cast the Ned farther as well.
  18. I fish for Smallmouth from the banks of a river most weekends. I am on the bank by 6am and on my way home by 10am to 11am the latest. When I arrive I am on the hunt for the topwater bite. Whopper Plopper, Zara Spook, Yo-Zuri 3DB prop baits and 3DB poppers have been my most successful baits this season. As the time approaches the 9am hour I switch to some finesse style presentations. This weekend I tried the Z-Man TRD Crawz and got a lot of fish. With the clear water I was able to see how it sits in the water. I was also able to see Sunfish attack the claws. The Elastech material is incredible for not loosing appendages to those little jokers.
  19. Carhartt T-Shirt and plenty of sunscreen and bug repellent. If I had to wear long sleeves it would be a button up like @Catt I always wear jeans and boots when bank fishing even in 100 degree heat. It's more for ticks than sun protection. Not the ideal wardrobe for staying cool by any means. When it gets that hot I bring plenty of water and find shady spots to fish.
  20. I would recommend the Lew's Custom Pro Speed Spin. 11+1 Stainless steel ball bearings, Aluminum body and sideplate with flush and drain port, C60 Carbon skeletal rotor with fat aluminum bail wire, Lightweight double anodized knurled (braid ready) aluminum spool, Smooth sealed carbon multi-disc drag system, Aluminum handle with Winn Dri-Tac knob, 6.2:1 gear ratio. All that and it looks fantastic as well. It's my favorite spinning reel.
  21. Came back from vacation on Saturday, and brought the heat back with me. Dismal two fishing days fishing the banks of the Hudson in 90+ degree weather. I caught 4 fish total and missed 3 fish that shook hooks. All dinks as well. A Rock Bass was the only fish that hit my Plopper and stayed hooked.
  22. I very rarely ask for help in BPS or any store for that matter. Doing so is usually an exercise in frustration. I visited the BPS in Orlando FL last week and as usual the specific items I wanted were not there. I was with family and friends and both wives "encouraged" me to ask for assistance in finding the new bubbling toad topwater bait. I did and as usual not only did they not have the bait, the clerk who I asked never heard of it. I had to show him a pic of the BPS brand bait on my phone! I settled for one of those double down BPS ploppers. I lost the bait the same day to a gator...
  23. I hope what he meant by "pulling the reel apart" was just opening up the sideplate.
  24. That’s not normal. I have the Mach 2 Speed Spool combo and mine does not do that. It should be pinned. If you bought a combo combo off the shelf it could have been tampered with. When I bought mine I saw one on the shelf with a tension knob missing. People pilfering parts off of combos on box store racks is epidemic over here. Return it for an undamaged one of contact Lew’s customer service and let them know. They can send you a new pin.
