  4. Thanks A-Jay for the advice and video. I noticed the hand gestures you make and plan on incorporating them into my training.
  5. First dog I had was a Pug named Dino (After the Flintstones “dog”) super friendly and non-aggressive unless you took away his bone or hurt one of his family. He jumped up and bit my cousin when we had a fight. Update on Iggy. She is doing great. She is now house trained. I taught her how to sit, we are working on stay. She fetches and brings back anything I throw. She had her last shot so we can go on walks. She is curious about her new area as we ventured around the neighborhood. I plan on loose leash training her next. The vet said she is more Lab than anything else. Her only flaw would be puppy bites. Two or three times a day she will want our attention so much she will mouth us. It’s not hard but if it catches you the wrong way it hurts. At 5 months old she has her permanent teeth. We have been working on telling her no and redirecting her to chew toys. We also turn away from her when she does this. Both of these things work to a degree. Lately when we turn away she will nip at loose clothing or the back of pants legs. We are hoping she grows out of this phase soon.
  6. Abu Garcia Black Max. Amazing reel for the price. Paired with a Abu Garcia Vengeance rod it’s a nice combo and always in my kayak
  7. Walmart also has the Lew’s Lazer HS rods great rod for under $40
  8. Nothing fancy. Mostly hot dogs, Brats, burgers, corn on the cob and those beyond burgers.
  9. Fall is bittersweet for me on the river. I get some nice Smallies in September but they disappear by mid to late October. Then it’s the 3 P’s for me (Perch, Pickerel, Pumpkinseeds) if I want to keep catching fish until first ice.
  10. We go straight from summer to winter here most years. It is nice to have cool mornings again though
  11. Thanks everyone! I have been missing having a dog for awhile. My remote days and my wife and sons schedule make it possible for us to have her. I knew if I got another dog it would be a shelter pet. We are as happy to have Iggy is she is to have a forever home. bonus is she only needs one shot and she is almost fully house trained. She got mega treats for going outside yesterday and today.
  12. Meet Iggy. A 5 month old hound mix we adopted from our local shelter. My son always wanted a dog and he is responsible enough between work and school to handle her.
  13. iPad. I used to check the forums on my desktop at work but after an update it became a hassle.
  14. I have 3 travel rods, 2 spinning and 1 casting. Spinning: St Croix Triumph Medium 4 Piece Fenwick Eagle Medium 3 piece Casting: Shimano Convergence 7’ Medium 4 piece I recommend any of them. The St Croix tip section is a noodle and I have no issues throwing light lures with it. The Convergence is pretty nice considering the price. I really put it to the test catching Channel Cats before my Florida trip.
  15. Remote work day fishing session before logging on. Whopper Plopper and Senko were what the river Smallies wanted today.
  16. I bring a towel and those extendable rod holders in my tackle bag. The towel is for when the terrain is rocky and I have to lay my rod down. The reel is always on the towel. If I have to lay it down it gets placed gently.
  17. I have really gone down the Shimano rabbit hole lately. Three major purchases in as many months have eaten up all my “Mad Money” A lady I work with has taken a second job on the weekends at the local Field and Stream. She gets a 25% discount on purchases. Her cousin runs a tackle shop and gives her steep discounts. She has become my new drug dealer… Shimano Curado DC 150 XG Shimano Vanford 1000 Shimano Nasci 2500
  18. This stretch of the river is between 2 Dams. They have dropped the water level in it by 8 feet to make repairs on the lower Dam. Now I have access to parts of the river I would have never had bank fishing. This particular spot is by the upper Dam. I am able to walk out on rocks that are normally underwater to fish the current coming out of an electrical plant.
  19. I spray my arms and neck with Cutter Skinsations insect repellent. Ice helps itchy bite areas and Benadryl itch relief spray as well
  20. For sure. This fish was peeling drag. I had to put my thumb on the spool to stop the line coming off. Steady pressure with the rod to wear her down to the point where I could regain some lost yardage. Strangely she never jumped. Made me think it was a Channel Cat at first.
  21. Biggest Smallmouth of the year! A 3lb, 4oz beauty caught this morning on a weightless worm. Amazing power in these fish especially fighting them out of the current.
  22. Garbage goes back in my tackle bag or pockets to be emptied at home. Check those pockets before putting your clothes in the washer…
  23. I have never had a Bass swallow a Ned rigged bait I have thrown. I can see this happening with any bait that is supposed to be fished on a semi slack line. If the wind puts too much bow in your line fish a different bait to avoid gut hooking a Bass.
  24. Love my remote work days. I can fish an hour or two before work. Today I fished a weightless worm and caught some feisty river Smallmouth.
  25. Took the Kayak out for the first time this year this weekend and again today. Over 20 Bass ((LMB & SMB) all in the 1/4 to 3/4 lb size except 2 in the two pound range. 1 each trip. Broke in my new Shimano Nasci 2500 nicely.
