  1. Same. My 75 (loon and Shad) does not get nearly the amount of bites my 90 (bone) does. I found a WP 130 (bone) while fishing a week ago it's a huge bait! going to give it a try when the top water bite looks right again.
  2. I caught a LMB on Friday the size of my pinkie finger. It was my worst Bass ever as the hook I was using went through it's eye...
  3. I have a friend that feels the same way. He says all the stuff in books and magazines is "theory and speculation" until it is put into practice. Experience is the best teacher is his motto. To that I say you can go experience fishing blind or you can be equipped with some "theories and speculation" to put into practical action. I choose the latter. With all the information we have on our smartphones at our fingertips 24/7 you bet it makes things easier.
  4. Caught a Creek Chub this weekend. Makes 15 species for the year or 16 with the Snapping Turtle.
  5. Ditto to both.
  6. My son gets home from school before my wife and I get home from work. He knows to put Daddies packages in the basement and the rest of the mail on the kitchen table.
  7. Love my original Speed Demon. I affectionately call it my Ozark Trail Steez
  8. We had a “bomb cyclone” weather event here, Wednesday and Thursday. 20+MPH winds and close to 4” of rain. Today was overcast and high of 50 degrees. I braved the banks as the river was flowing strong. I looked for current breaks and was able to catch one small Largemouth. The local canal water flow was shut down so I was only able to get one Fallfish. At least I didn’t get skunked.
  9. Who doesn’t? They are the crazy ones
  10. I have my first reel. It’s a Mitchell 300. Chipped away a lot of paint but it still works. The rod was probably an ugly stick but is long gone. Can’t imagine I broke it so I probably gave it away after I got my first graphite rod.
  11. Not a big fan of wind and rain while fishing. It does keep most of the dog walkers away though.
  12. I second the vote for the Kastking Rack. It's a quality no tools needed to assemble rack. Mine is filled so I will need a second one for my 2 piece and saltwater rods.
  13. 14 species for me this year. LMB SMB Bluegill Longear Sunfish Redbreast Sunfish Shellcracker Pumpkinseed Yellow Perch Chain Pickerel Brook Trout Fallfish Rock Bass Golden Shiner Warmouth and a Snapping Turtle would be the 15th species. Over 600 fish total this year so far.
  14. October has not been slow for me. Fishing the river I have caught 2 Smallmouth the whole month. It has been a month of Fallfish. I have broke my PB Fallfish 3 times over the last 2 months.
  15. The Golf ponds are stocked to keep the bugs in check. Some states require this by law. If they are not stocked they are chemically treated to control bugs and algae. Out of the two I prefer the natural circle of life method.
  16. It's a little of both. That's how we roll here in NY.
  17. Checked my arsenal and realized I am sorely lacking in the size 200 spinning reel department. Ordered the new Lew's Mach Smash MHS200 spinning reel from Sportsman's Outfitters for $41 Should be here before Friday. It will be paired with my medium light Lew's Carbon Fire rod for some in-line spinner, ned or split shot live worm rigs.
  18. First for me this 2019 Numbers. I have never caught the amount of fish that I have this year. I have doubled last years numbers. Weight. It was a quantity over quality year. I had only one Smallmouth Bass over two pounds.
  19. Thoughts and prayers your way. Stay strong.
  20. I like this idea. My travel combo to Florida this year cost me under $100 Rod: Berkley Cherrywood $25 Reel: Lew's LFS (got it on sale for $70, marked down from $99)
  21. Driving gets worse every year. Up here we have a mix of young impatient drivers and older folk who turn and merge with the mentality that people will slow down and let them in. It's a deadly combination at times. I can only hope the future of self driving cars prevents these senseless tragedies.
  22. Glad to hear your Ok. Had to be scary as hell while it was happening.
  23. Throw a wacky rigged Senko. That slow falling bait will get bit sooner rather than later. If you deadstick it on the bottom a Catfish might scoop it up. Or drag a jig with a trailer along the bottom.
  24. Out of the ones you mentioned I like the Lew's Xfinity green and orange combos. They are like budget versions of the Mach 1 and Mach 2 combos. The green Xfinity combo is a budget Mach 1 and the orange Xfinity with the Winn grip knobs is a budget Mach 2
  25. My favorite is the Berkley half-head jig in 1/8 oz size.
