  1. It's in the video above. Basically its a suction cup on the spool so you can stick it on a surface to spool your line. At $29 for 200 yards of Fluorocarbon, the cost of the tool and prepaid envelope are included.
  2. https://www.thefishingwire.com/releases/4bcf1e01-23bb-42d6-81e8-776caba34598 The “sidewinder” tool is an interesting idea for spooling on the run. I like the idea of the included envelope for recycling. I will be giving this a shot.
  3. Stability and durability is what I think of when I think of the Tournament MB. It was my first Lew’s baitcaster and it is still going strong. “Rocket casts” will depend on the lure weight and the rod you pair the reel with. I can cast a Berkley Dredger pretty far with my setup.
  4. I would go with the Tournament MB I have the 5.x:1 gear ratio (IPT 21" to 25") model and it has a deep V spool. It is my deep cranking reel of choice. With the clearance sales going you can get one at a great price. It has dual brakes. Magnetic control on the outside, 4 pin centrifugal system on the inside. I set my internals at 2 on 2 off and forget them. I adjust the mag brakes as needed.
  5. Don’t know if anyone noticed but Swindle, Grigsby and Latimer all switched to Lew’s 2020 pro team https://anglerschannel.com/lews-adds-grigsby-swindle-and-others-to-2020-pro-staff/
  6. Lew's TP-1 Black Speed Stick or St. Croix Premier
  7. No voluntary surgeries for me. Especially on something as precious as my eyes and vision, I don't care how safe it is. Glasses were good enough for my grandpappy, they are good enough for me.
  8. From what I understand, it has something to do with the codes the YouTube influencers have for their subs to get 20% off Favorite rods. The story is some of these influencers were generating over $100K in rod sales for Favorite and in return they received free rods in the $1000+ range. They wanted more of a profit sharing relationship. As far as what happened with the Googans that remains to be seen. I can only assume that they want to branch out and start making rods under their own brand. The appearance of rods with Googan logo's on the butt cap makes me think they have some prototypes already in development. On a side not someone at work who knows I am into fishing got me the Googan pliers and scissors for a holiday grab bag. They are decent quality. The pliers are not spring loaded. That surprised me as most fishing pliers are and I prefer the ones that are not. I get a better grip without the spring.
  9. I attempted to feed the resident Otter a Bluegill I caught. This was in Orlando Florida in February 2019 Awesome animal. No feeding them people food was the rule.
  10. We had ice and snow yesterday into today, then a melt and now a refreeze with snow showers overnight to welcome in the new year
  11. Happy New Year A-Jay and BR
  12. Maybe you got a lemon. It's the same SLP body on both reels, same braking system as well. They should have handled the same. The handles are different so if you don't like Winn grip knobs you won't like the Mach 2
  13. You should have no problems with 1/4oz Neds and Jerkbaits with that reel and the right rod. I have the Pro TI paired with a Lew's TP1 Black Medium/Fast rod for those applications.
  14. The Carbon Fire is a great reel. It is built on the Lew’s SLP platform so it is basically a Mach 2 with less bells and whistles. 7 bearings instead of 10, paddle instead of Winn grip knobs and a red paint job instead of green. Mach 2 has a clickable cast control knob.
  15. I agree. Nothing else comes close for ease of adjusting brakes when using lighter lures. I used to be a set and forget the brakes fisherman. With the external adjustable centrifugal system I realized how much casting distance I was losing by not adjusting the brakes. The external brakes make those adjustments quick and easier than the, remove the side plate, 6 pin systems.
  16. Not strange at all. I have lots of Lew's baitcasters and spinning reels, cheap to expensive. One of my favorite creek fishing spinning combos is the Lew's Xfinity. Cost me $56 total and sometimes I grab it over my Lew's Custom Pro Speed Spin which costs $129 There is something about that cheap combo I really like.
  17. I have the 3500 and 3600 sizes for quick trips to the canal or river. I have had no issues with the zippers. I really like the mesh pockets on the back and side pockets. Perfect spot to place scissors and hook remover.
  18. That Lew's reel is brand new for this year. I doubt anyone has tried it yet. I would suggest for $20 more you could get the Lew's Mach 2 metal speed spin. I have had mine for 2 seasons, caught hundreds of fish with it, no grind and it is as smooth as the day I bought it. Durable as well with an aluminum frame. The winn grip knob is a nice touch as well.
  19. I mainly river fish for Smallmouth Bass both on the banks and from a kayak. I have the Lew’s LFS, TP1 and the Mach Crush combo. I use them for topwater poppers, spooks, Ploppers, T-rigs, weightless worms, crankbaits, spinnerbaits and jigs. My spinning gear is reserved for dropshotting, Ned rigs, lighter lures like in-line spinners and other finesse baits.
  20. Great news for anytime but especially nice during the holiday season.
  21. Maybe at a bachelorette party.
  22. Cold water and speed anything sounds like an oxymoron to me.
  23. I received my Lew's TP 1 spinning rod yesterday from Dick's. I ordered it during their 25% off your entire order and the rod was already discounted so it was an amazing deal with free shipping as well. I took a gamble on Dick's shipping, free or not, as it has been horrible in my experience. This time however was not. The rod came in a heavy duty cardboard tube, sealed at both ends. The rod had the tip and handle bubble wrapped. The handle wrapped in bubble wrap was zip tied and the zip tie was taped to the tube to prevent the rod from moving up and down in the tube. This was Tackle Warehouse quality shipping from DSG. I was impressed. I can only imagine all the returns on shipped rods made them revamp their shipping system.
  24. Giving them a target like a Cheerio in the toilet works great as well.
  25. I like ordering items that get delivered by UPS. My son’s friend’s father is our local UPS delivery driver. He drops my stuff off before he finishes his route for the day. I am always home by that time to receive the delivery.
