  1. I like beer but I like whiskey better, preferably Canadian (Black Velvet or Crown Royal when I have more disposable income) I’ll have 2 or 3 drinks on the weekend (Friday and Saturday) or a holiday. That’s enough in my book the rest of the week my liver gets a rest. Don’t want to get to deep in the weeds about that subject though. My favorite beer at the moment is Budweiser Jim Beam Copper Lager. Great taste and refreshing.
  2. I have the Mach 2 100 and Mach Smash 200 for trout fishing. 4-6# mono on them respectively.
  3. I am a Lew’s fan but I would pick the President over the Laser Lite. There are some great Lew’s spinning reels out there. I recommend the Lew’s Mach 2 metal speed spin $49.99 on sale or the Mach Crush $79.99 on sale. The Lew’s Mach Smash spinning reel is MSP $49.99 and is a great reel if you can get past the neon red color. The best bang for the buck IMO is the Mach 2 I have had mine for 3 season and it still performs flawlessly
  4. I ordered mine during Black Friday from TW I should be using it in April if all goes well with our predicted ice out.
  5. I bought the Lew's line conditioner haven't used it yet. It's in a clear bottle which is nice compared to the Reelsnot and KVD bottles you can't see through. It is a water based formula so it doesn't look like it's going to be the slimy oily reelsnot type of spray. I can do a review but it will be awhile.
  6. I take a pic of each catch. I fill out my log later on with the information I collect from the pics: Date Time of catch Species Bait used Air temp (weather app) Water temp (thermometer)
  7. I would not take that bet. I hope society would get past gender stereotypes. In my household my wife changes the washers and assembles anything with instructions. I am a klutz but I make a good beast of burden, lifting and moving heavy stuff. I changed more diapers than her since she has a low tolerance to stinky stuff. I came from a household where my father never changed my diaper as a baby. Times change hopefully we can as well. I remember a riddle from awhile back. It went like this, “father and son are in a horrible car crash that kills the dad. The son is rushed to the hospital; just as he’s about to go under the knife, the surgeon says, “I can’t operate—that boy is my son!” The answer is the surgeon is the son’s mother. The shock value was the surgeon is a woman. It was a shock back when I first heard it the 70’s its just stupid today.
  8. My theory is she had to ask the question. It’s part of their training in this particular establishment. They recite a whole speech they memorized about the rewards program and customer survey. That’s why I was only insulted for a quick second.
  9. I think it was an invisibility issue. It was like she didn’t even acknowledge my existence. Dang A-Jay it was like you were there. How did you know my wife won’t let me unload the eggs from the cart. I had the butterfingers ya know ?
  10. I got insulted for. Quick second today at Hannaford. The cashier asked my wife if she needed assistance with getting the groceries to her vehicle. I was standing there, all 6’1” 195 lbs of me. ??
  11. Great advice right here. My wife and I actually both have vision insurance so we can get both pairs without waiting a year. I get 1 pair on my insurance and one on hers. My 1st pair is my everyday glasses and my second pair is prescription no line bifocal polorized Ray Ban Wayfarers.
  12. Clothes, sneakers and golf. My DSG is full of brand name clothes (Nike, Under Armour, the North Face) sneakers and golf equipment (Golf Galaxy) Those areas of the store are always crawling with people. I buy my Carhartt stuff there when they are running a sale.
  13. Casting: Lew's Pro-TI + Lew's TP-1 Black 7' M Lew's Tournament MB 5.4:1 + Denali Zenyx 7' M crankbait rod Lew's LFS + Abu Garcia Vengeance 6',6" M Lew's Mach Crush combo Lew's Mach II combo Lew's Mach I combo Kastking Speed Demon + Field and Stream Tec Spec Elite 6',10" MH Spinning: Lew's Custom Pro speed spin + Lew's TP1 7' M Lew's Mach Crush 300 + Favorite Balance 7'3" ML Lew's Mach II 100 combo Lew's Mach Smash 200 + Lew's laser SG1 6',6" ML Lew's Xfinity combo What can I say? I am a big fan of Lew's gear.
  14. I back off the cast control knob at the end of the fishing season. It helps when I pass by my reels in the winter months and spin the handles...
  15. I agree. If the person in question didn't think $3000 worth of free merch was fair for the amount of business he generated then renegotiate when the contract is up. My theory with the Googan's and Favorite is the Googan's now have the capital to buy and market their own line of rods. I have seen several members using Googan branded prototypes. I would not be surprised to see them release something soon, ICast the latest.
  16. I heard some "things" as well. I heard a partner received $3000 in free rods and a code for discounts to give his subs. That code generated over $100,000.00 in rod sales for the company. The partner was looking for some kind of profit sharing which was never discussed up front. Depending on your point of view $3000 worth of free merchandise could be viewed as payment...
  17. All three are solid choices. I love my Lew's TP-1 Black casting rod. I have a Favorite Balance spinning rod and it has served me well. My only complaint is the reel seat fastener came apart and I had to crazy glue it back on.
  18. The weak part of most reels, baitcaster and spinning is the reel foot. On spinning reels add the stem to the list. Most of the graphite spinning reels I have broken have been at either of these locations. There have not been many but they have been to drops on concrete. Had they been aluminum I have no doubt I would still have them. Another reason to consider going aluminum.
  19. I love a good crankbaits, small and large. I am partial to squarebills and lipless versions. I probably would like deep divers if I did more boat fishing
  20. My vote is for the Lew’s Pro TI I have this reel and it is silky smooth, not geary at all. It is Lew’s flagship baitcaster at MSRP of $350 ($250 on sale) It’s a whole lot of reel for the money.
  21. When I was researching what trot lines were and if they were legal in NY I stumbled upon the YouTube channel Hook, Line and Chill. A guy from Kentucky that runs Trot lines and takes a different girl out every episode to check them. I paid attention to the fishing part of the video to see he uses bluegill and goldfish a lot. Sometimes live ones. He caught some big blue, channel and flatheads. For some strange reason I subbed to the channel even though I don’t fish this method. I wonder why...
  22. Lew’s Mach II metal speed spin is an aluminum body spinning reel. I have a size 100 reel on a medium light rod for finesse Smallmouth fishing. I have landed many 2 - 4 pound Smallies on 8 lb line with it. This will be my fourth season with this reel. It’s as smooth as the day I bought it with very littl maintenance. $79.99 but I often see it on sale for $59.99
  23. I usually book a trip to Florida in February as that is when cabin fever is at its peak for me. Sadly it’s not in the cards this year... April can’t come fast enough.
  24. DSG is the only game in town around here. Hour drive to Field and Stream More than 4 hours to the nearest Bass Pro. It will be sad if the only place I can get fishing stuff will be at Walmart.
  25. So very sorry to hear this. My condolences to you and your family.
