  1. My Mom is a fantastic cook and so is my wife. I can cook but there are people around me that do it better. My Mom taught me how to cook things she said every bachelor should know before l left home. Sauce, meatloaf, a whole chicken. The rest I picked up on my own. She is a pinch and dash cook. Her meals, while awesome, never taste the same twice. I measure everything because of this. Keeps the taste consistent. I cook a few times a week as my wife and son are very picky eaters. I can count the things they like to eat on one hand minus some fingers. When I want something they don’t eat I make it myself.
  2. The amount of litter along the river shoreLine I fish is staggering. With the volume of indoor escapees increasing so has the trash they leave behind. Today was a plastic shopping bag full of worm cups, bait and hook packages, empty cans (alcohol, energy drinks, soda and Gatorade) miniature liquor bottles, sunscreen containers and last but not least fishing line. Fishermen that litter are the fishermen that frustrate me the most.
  3. Love it more than once if I could. My current and favorite finesse set ups in order are my: Lew’s Carbon Fire Speed Spin 200 paired with a 6’9” Medium Light Carbon Fire Speed Stick. Lew’s Mach 2 Speed Spin 100 paired with a 6’7” Medium Light Mach 2 Speed Stick Lew’s Mach Smash spinning reel size 200 Paired with a 6’10” Medium Light Lew’s Laser SG1 Speed Stick 4-8lb mono on them at any given time. 1 set up has 10lb braid
  4. I bring a medium light spinning setup to catch panfish on zero Bass days. That's just to avoid the skunk
  5. My favorite spinning reel right now is also IMO the best bang for your buck. The new for 2020 Lew's Carbon Fire Speed Spin. Dick's sporting goods exclusive aluminum frame reel for $69 on sale now for $59
  6. The Lew's Laser SG1 series of rods run $50 They are good rods for crankbaits, jerkbaits and moving baits. For $50 they are not going to have the sensitivity for other techniques that more expensive rods will have. Durability is not bad at all. This is one of those rods that look and perform better than their cost would have you believe.
  7. I have been using 10-12lb Big Game for my topwater baits. This has convinced me to try braid. Looks like it will avoid some of the pitfalls I have with mono. Do you think going up to 30lb or even 40lb will be an issue with walking baits or Ploppers?
  8. I use the Z-Man Hula StickZ for split shot and Carolina rigs. Those tentacles give it a bit more action than the TRD
  9. I got mine for $79 around the holidays. I am always looking for deals as I hate paying full price. Just swapped the grips on mine for the Lew’s combat grips. Like them better than the stock ones
  10. Looks like your own private lake!
  11. Fallfish in breeding colors I believe http:// Fat Yellow Perch http://
  12. This weekend was a great multi-species time for me. Largemouth Bass Chain Pickerel Yellow Perch Pumpkinseed Bluegill Redbreast Sunfish Fallfish I saw Brook Trout and Carp but didn't have the bait they were looking for.
  13. First decent Largemouth of 2020 And one of these toothy, slimy, critters
  14. There are plenty of new rods and reels out. A good place to start is Tackle Warehouse and click on the "New Items" section. Then you can look at the new rods and reels for this season. It might be helpful if you get a look at the brand names on the rods and reels he uses and stick with those. Some folks only like certain brands.
  15. If it anything like the Gamakatsu Tackle Storage Shoulder Bag I have I can agree on the quality and comfort. I bought mine during a black Friday sale for half price. It is a great bag for short trips (less than 3 hours)
  16. Right now with everything that is going on I am getting most of my tackle from Walmart and DSG curbside pick up. The only items I ordered lately were some 6th Sense baits on sale. I ordered Directly from them a week ago and the package will arrive tomorrow.
  17. Time to send it to a professional for a look. That reel is one of my favorites. It's not in production anymore so I want to keep mine running as long as I can. If mine felt like that I would make an appointment with DVT
  18. Those words have taken on new meaning lately. With people trying to escape the great indoors, public bodies of water have been flooded with people. I am at the water at sunrise to avoid the majority of them but today it felt like the opening day of Trout season at a certain point. On the bright side I am glad to see people rediscover their love of fishing.
  19. My current favorite beer is Budweiser Jim Beam copper lager.
  20. Bass were biting today. Caught my first decent Largemouth of 2020 in a highly pressured neighborhood pond. http://
  21. This has to be the longest I have ever waited for Bass to show up in spring. And dink Bass no less. Multi-species has been great. Fallfish http:// Pickerel http://
  22. Rage Swimmers are my favorite swimbaits. I use them on a money minnow Yum jighead. I also like the 6th Sense Divine Swimbaits. I use them as trailers on a chatterbait and swimjig. I find both more durable than Keitechs. That’s why I started using them
  23. Yes, even if. If your pond is shallow throw a wacky rigged Yum Dinger. They fall slower. I usually throw a 4” but I will go down to a 3”
  24. That caught my eye as well. I don't think the OP is a native New Yorker
  25. The Walmart exclusive Lew's Hank Parker series of casting rods are the unsung heroes of the budget rod world.
