I have the Cabelas 2500 PDF To avoid it inflating in precipitation situations I don't take it out when there is a chance of anything more than a light drizzle. That's most of the time anyway as I don't want to fish in torrential downpours. I have the foam kind I take instead.
I used Strike Kings for years before needing prescription lenses. I see no difference in the polarization between the two.
The price difference is due to the materials used in the frames and lenses. If there's any difference in the tint, UV coating or polarization it is too little for the naked eye to tell.
I am seriously going to snap! Lightning shocks are still $30 at my Walmart. Abu Black Max combos are $49.99! I would have bought a few at those prices. Consider yourselves very lucky!
Same hooks at my store are $2.50 to $3.00 NY sucks for prices!
I love those hooks as well. I must be a glut for punishment as I Palomar knot both sides!
I recently bought a hook-Eze to speed things up.
Love dreamshots except for the fragile tail. Bluegill tend to nip them right off. Try the Strike King half shell drop shot baits. They are much more durable.
Are we still having this discussion? Even if your favorite brand is being made in China so is everyone else's. If the quality was bad they would eventually go under.
i for one don't put much emphasis in where a product is made but how it performs for me at a frugal price point.
Too each their own. When I am dropshotting, i am looking for the bait to stand out perpendicular from the line. A 5" Senko will not do that. I would rather wacky rig that bait on my drop shot hook or rig it Texas style weedless instead.
if it is working for you I say go for it. The goal is to catch fish after all. No matter what way.
Can we get some clarification please? Is Kastking still a sponsor?
Dont get me wrong, I have a Mela 2 on the way and regardless if they are still a sponsor or not I think they make a quality product. For $32 bucks I can get a 11 bearing graphite reel or a 2 bearing graphite Shimano Sienna for $29.99 The choice was clear to me at least.
Over the month of February I have purchased the following items to appease the bait monkey:
Zoom Z-drop worms
Zoom Super-Chunk
Yum Sharp Shooters
Z-man Ribbon-tail worms
Big Bite Baits Stick Tail worms
Arkie Sexy-Tail shad
Gary Yamamoto Shad-Shaped worms
Stren Flurocast 400 yds of 8lb
Various hooks, jigs and shakyheads
And a Kastking Mela II 2000 size reel. (Waiting on delivery and I will post a pic)
You really can't go wrong with any of these reels. They are all great reels for their price range.
If I had to pick one it would be the President. If you are going to go Shimano go with the Spirex with rear drag for the fighting drag feature it has.
For drop shot rigs I prefer the Yamamoto Shad shaped worm over the regular senko. If I drop shot a senko I will use the 3" size.
Yum Sharp Shooter or Warning Shots are great cost effective drop shot baits.
I don't quite understand your curiosity over the fall rate for drop shot baits. The fall rate for these baits don't count as your drop shot sinker is going to get them to the bottom fast.
Awesome. I took my son out fishing at that age as well.
While fishing is not on his favorite list of things to do (Baseball, cross-country, track) he still looks forward to going fishing with his old man. Needless to say I cherish those times.
I love Roboworms but it is annoying that they don't come in a resealable packet. I wind up leaving them in the plastic sleeve they come in and putting that sleeve in a 1 gallon freezer ziploc bag for transport.
I went with my dad to have skin cancer removed from his forehead. The waiting room was the strangest experience I have had in a long time. People were coming out parading their bandages. One lady had growths removed from both earlobes she came out with her ears covered in gauze and said TaaaDaa!! When my dad came out his bandage made him look like a unicorn. He just grumbled and took a seat.
I bought a buff shortly after this and I don't care how I look with it on. I will wear it all the time as the alternative is way to scary.
Truer words were never written.
I had to convince my fishing partner of this. In a 4 hour session I caught 30 smallmouth bass to his 5. While he did have the biggest fish of the day I had 3 that were only a few oz. short of it's weight.
I agree.
As much as I love fishing once I get my home up and running I can run to Dick's and get a Daiwa Samurai combo for less than $30 and dig up some worms to start over.
