  1. Same here. Hopefully that was cheap mono. My backlash was on 14lb Trilene XL which is easy and cheap enough to replace
  2. I had the mother of all backlashes Wednesday when some cottonwood pollen got on my line and then stuck in my line guide when I cast. The only way I was able to get it out was to cut it.
  3. This is the best solution. I do this all the time for items not available in my Walmart. They notify you by email when the item is ready to be picked up.
  4. I agree. This is the way I like my dogs.
  5. Good to know. I love Pepperochini. I will have to get a jar of sport peppers shipped to me and try them.
  6. Trust me I am no expert. I was just answering your question if it were possible. I do most of my wacky rig fishing on spinning gear. A 6'6" medium fast rod with 8lb stren or 8lb Kastking flouroclear line.
  7. I use the same rod for dropshotting. Great choice. I like Ike's Bass Resource video on the dropshot. His explanation on how to set the hook is spot on.
  8. They are small green hot peppers packed in vinegar. We call them Pepperoncini around here.
  9. I like my Kastking Stealth. You will also find positive reviews in this forum for the assassin, royale legend and speed demon. If the spartacus is anything like them it should be great for what you have planned.
  10. Ahhhhhh the sound of my Mitchell 300 reel clicking away on the retrieve brings back so many memories. I dragged mine up from the basement after reading this thread. It is one solid, heavy machine. Things were built to last back then. 50 years and still clicking!
  11. Watermelon pearl laminate and Smoke pearl laminate are quickly becoming favorites of mine.
  12. I am going to buy some of these before the weekend. Thanks!
  13. Interesting. I will keep an eye on the Youtubers I watch to see if it proves this point. So far, I noticed, since the Googan Squad has switched over to Favorite they still use a variety of Shimano reels over the Favorite brand. If you watch Extreme Philly Fishing, you will see he is sponsored by Kastking but uses Shimano and Daiwa reels as well. If anything Daiwa should sponsor him as he has used a 2 piece UL Daiwa Spinmatic rod for years and caught thousands of fish on it. The thing is still going strong!
  14. When I make hot dogs at home I grill them 90% of the time. When I am in Manhattan nothing beats a boiled dirty water dog from a hot dog cart.
  15. I have tried that as well. The rubberbands are much more fragile when compared to the O ring. I lost a few stickbaits using the rubberband alone.
  16. Same crew was jumping off the boat house roof at Gary Yamamoto's ranch while they were guests there. Haven't seen them there since...
  17. They have not on mine. I pre-rig a bunch of mine before going out on the water They sit in a baggy for over a week sometimes and they are Ok. I do find that using the rubberband alone doesn't work as well. If the hook or a toothy pickerel nicks it, it will snap.
  18. I used to love a good buffet. In the process of going from 280lbs to 190lbs I had to stay away from them. It was easy though as the last time I was at one I saw a guy ladling some soup into a bowl he was holding. A piece of potato didn't make it into the bowl, it dropped on the side of his hand. He proceeded to then flick the potato back into the community pot the soup came out of. Now I am not a Germaphobe but that was just disgusting. It made me start being a bit more aware of the fact that not everyone is as considerate of their fellow human beings as I am.
  19. For under a $1000 you can get a nice new square backed canoe for that motor you have. I have a 15.5' Canoe that I transport on top of my Hyundai Elantra with no roof rack. I bought one of those car topper kits with the foam blocks and tie downs and it works.Very hard if almost impossible to get it on the roof by myself though. I don't have to travel to far though. For longer trips I borrow my Father in laws trailer. I will be trying out a Kayak next month for the first time. If I like it I think it will be a great option when I want to go solo.
  20. Walmart has a floating wacky rig tool. The K&J Tackle Wacky Rig'R comes with a few O rings in the bag for less than $10 I have started using an O ring combined with a small rubberband that was left over from when my son had his braces. They were sitting around collecting dust now that his braces are off. When combined with the O ring they keep stickbaits on better than the O ring alone. I don't know if I am alone in saying this but my hook up ratios seem to be higher using the O ring method. The hook seems to set itself since it is totally exposed. This is opposed to when you run it though the middle of the worm and only part of the hook is exposed. I lose a few fish when they jump with the later method.
  21. Hands down for soft plastics Yum is the winner for cheap quality baits. Best of all they always seem to be on sale at DSG/Field and Stream for $2 a bag if you buy 5 or more. $10 for 5 bags of Dingers is a hard deal to beat.
  22. Blast from the past! I like the Black Yellow Stripes and the White Red Dot. Instead of replacing the grub body, which others have done in this thread, I just spray some scent on it. Seems to work better but it could just be in my head.
  23. These work great. I love a good hot wing but there is hot and then there is ridiculous.
  24. I have some 8lb Stren Fluorocast I got on clearance at Walmart. I use it on my dropshot set up. It's decent but Kastking Fluoroclear has spoiled me. I will be respooling with that once I use up the Stren.
  25. I use this sometimes as well. It's great for a number of reasons. Its a 2 in 1 product so less stuff to carry. It works and when you are re-applying it for the sunscreen purposes the bug repellent is refreshed as well. Most people forget to re-apply their insect repellent as it fades over time or gets sweated out. Oh and don't get the Walmart brand of sunscreen/insect repellent. When I used it and drove to my fishing spot, I could not get the smell out of my car for days.
