  1. I have the Stealth and I find the casting distance and the ease of casting to be extraordinary. I have the Black Max as well and there is no comparison between the two for me. Stealth is the winner IMO in casting, drag and weight. The Royale Legend is the cheapest baitcaster by Kastking. I would expect the quality to be on the lower end of their spectrum. I notice this with my Kastking spinning reels. The Sharky II is a noticeable step up from my Mela II. You could very well have a lemon. The good thing is Kastking customer service is great. Contact them and see what they can do. I was able to get a new drag knob for my reels as mine was defective. I sent them a picture and a new knob was in the mail the same day.
  2. Watch Leo Sheng on Youtube. His channel is called Extreme Philly Fishing. He loves the pink Senkos and catches lots of Largemouth, Smallmouth and Pickerel on them. I am not brave enough yet to try them. I might go solid white as I notice I have been doing well with baby bass laminate. I think the white bottom has been attracting fish to strike.
  3. Finesse is the way I like to fish Wayfarer are my signature sunglasses. I have been wearing them since Blues Brothers and Risky Business came out in theaters. Wish I could change my name to NY Wayfarer. I think that would be a better name as NY is my home state and I am not so much a finesse fisherman since discovering these forums. You guys have inspired me to try new techniques. I am always casting and retrieving a beetlespin, spinnerbait or swimbait during my fishing trips now. Next up are cranks and jerkbaits.
  4. I conduct interviews at my job for new employees. This is one of the canned interview questions I have to ask as assigned by human resources. In my experience it is important to have an answer for this question. I have had many people say some variation of I have no weakness. Which if you think about it is a weakness. It is a lack of humility or not being able to look at themselves honestly. A good answer to this question is a weakness that could also be considered a strength. Something like I hate missing deadlines, I will do anything to avoid doing that.
  5. I cracked a joke at one interview when they asked me that question. I said "Kyrptonite" I didn't get that job so don't follow my example
  6. I wear Crocs when using my canoe. Bank fishing used to be whatever old sneakers I had laying around that I didn't mind getting muddy or dirty. After getting poison oak, I have a dedicated pair of boots I wear when fishing from shore. I rinse off the outside of them after every trip.
  7. I have to agree. A story comes to mind. My fishing partner was using a Senko with a offset 3/0 worm hook. Problem was he rigged it wacky style and went through the worm twice so it was bunched up in the middle. Before I could give him some advice, he caught the first and biggest Bass of the day on that mess.
  8. I have Pflueger, Abu Garcia, Daiwa and Quantum baitcast reels that cast great but nothing casts farther than my Kastking Stealth.
  9. I usually respool when my line runs low on my spool. After fishing I usually strip off a 12" to a yard of line and cut it. This means with regular use I spool up once a twice a season.
  10. Kudos to you sir. One person can make a difference.
  11. Same here. I use Gamakatsu, Owner, VMC and Eagle Claw hooks most of the time. I like them all.
  12. I will be using a Kayak for the first time next month when I go on vacation. Based on how I like the experience I might purchase one for weekend use. "Easy gets used, hard does not" is what will be on my mind as I pick out a Kayak. I will be transporting it alone on top of my car with one of those foam block kits. So while I would love a pedal drive Hobie or a Field and Stream Shadow Caster I am realistically looking for something that weighs 40lbs. I have my eye on the Pelican Tracker Angler 10 It is a sit inside with very little bells and whistles but at 38lbs it will be easy as hell to get on top of my car and in and out of the water.
  13. Me too. I had to go look at my prescription bottle to see the correct spelling.
  14. That's what the doc gave me, Prednisone. I also found the source of the rash. The oils were on my fishing sneakers and the cuff of my jeans I wore that day. I touched the cuff by accident with my wrist and had an instant reaction. I was able to wash it off before it spread to much. Needless to say, sneakers and jeans are in the trash.
  15. My son is 13 and I ask him for help with my IPhone issues.
  16. I had the same problem when using a 1/0 VMC wacky weedless hook and an O ring. I switched to a Eagle Claw Lazer Sharp 1/0 wacky hook and have had no problems since. Weedless and wacky don't do it for me.
  17. Congrats! Love the last pic of the Bass in mid-flight!
  18. We have bad tick problems here so I always were jeans. Even today with the 90+degree weather. I think I got it when squatting down at the ponds edge to release a bass. The jeans rode up to my ankle and exposed enough flesh to the plant.
  19. I have this cheap device I bought at Walmart. Works better than the pencil and toes but not as good as the spooling station. For the price, under $5, it can't be beat.
  20. I have both, use both on different reels. They work on the mono and fluoro I use. I have never used it on braid. The reelsnot I have is the Java kind when I want a little scent for fishing.
  21. Thats the script I got, Predezone. I will be wearing boots from now on. No more sneakers and no-see-um socks.
  22. Got my first ever case of poison oak rash after pond fishing on Wednesday. It's on my right foot and calf. As Spring is almost over the pond vegetation is now in full bloom. I guess I got to close to some when releasing a bass at the ponds edge. I learned my lesson, it will be aerial acrobatic bass releases from now on. We have a Telemedicine like service at my job. It was a real easy experience. After downloading the app, I called the service. They told me take a pic of the infected area and a doctor will call me back. When the doc called back I had him on speakerphone and he walked me through sending him the pic. He diagnosed the problem and wrote me a script. Amazingly simple and a wonderful use of technology.
  23. I use a size 1/0 wacky worm hook with an O ring. 8lb stren clear blue fluorescent line (easy to see) Cast the worm when it hits the water I leave the slight slack in the line watching it at all times to see if it moves. Most of the time even with the semi-slack line I feel the initial tug of a bass taking the bait. It seems to me the wacky hook with the O ring almost sets itself when the bass strikes as the hook is totally exposed.
  24. I have to agree. While sight fishing pond bass I have noticed the fish are attracted to the initial splash of entry. They will often turn and dive down to strike at the sinking Dinger. If you can see the fish cast slightly past them as to not spook them.
  25. Yum Dingers for shallow ponds. When fished weightless they sink real slow.
