  1. 14 or 15lb mono is a great line to start with when first using a baitcaster.
  2. I use 8lb Kastking Fluorokote line.
  3. For Dropshot baits I like, in no particular order: Roboworms Biospawn Plasmatails Zoom Z Drop worms Yamamoto shad shaped worms 3 or 4" Dingers or Senkos Strike King Dreamshots (tails get bit off A LOT) Yum kill/Warning shots and sharp shooters
  4. That stinks. I hope you find some relief. I also fish with pain (Back, neck and foot) I do it because I would rather be fishing in pain then sitting at home in pain.
  5. Bank fishing: 1 rod. A Baitcaster or Spinning depending on what I am throwing and species I am targeting. Kayak fishing: 2 rods. 1 baitcaster for topwater, cranks or T-rigs 1 spinning for Ned rigs and or dropshots Boat fishing 3 or more rods simply because I have the room. I might add one more rod to carry with me this season. It will be a baitfeeder spinning reel and rod for Channel and Bullhead catfish.
  6. That Trokar hook looks like a sword. Nice pics.
  7. I use a 6'10" M Abu Garcia Vengeance casting rod for weightless wacky rigged Senkos. It's a great rod for that technique and best of all it is only $50 One of the best rods at that price range I have ever handled.
  8. Very sad. My condolences on your loss. My dad recently gave me his rods and reels as he doesn't feel steady enough on his feet to go fishing anymore. I had to start thinking about the fact that he won't be around forever.
  9. My son is 14. I started taking him fishing when he was a toddler using a Superman spincast combo. Over the years I took him on lots of trips where I tied his hooks, baited them, unsnagged and untangled his line and most times caught the fish and let him reel them in. He doesn't fish much with me since he has to do those things for himself. This year he has asked for a kayak so he can go with me. I see a new chapter in our fishing opening up soon. My experience has been kids love fishing then they don't until they do again. It depends on what phase of life they are in and if it is still "cool" to hang out with Dad.
  10. I like the original Megastrike and I use Brylcreem!
  11. Makes perfect sense, as my Speed Demon is mag only and seems to be always on. I thought it had something to do with the magnet placement in the reel. Magnets in the Assassin are all in a row on one side ...... while the Speed Demon magnets have a space between each two and go around the whole plate .. .. ..
  12. Thanks @J Francho I wonder if my Kastking reels are in that category. If so it would explain why they are so hard to backlash.
  13. I like reels that have both centrifugal and magnetic. From what I understand one braking system controls the spool rotation at the beginning of the cast and one at the end. Truly the best of both worlds.
  14. Last weeks game against the Jags and the last Superbowl are proof of what you are saying. The Falcons were 28–3 midway through the third quarter of SB 51... even a 25 point lead is not safe
  15. Never buy at full price from DSG! Kayaks go on sale all the time even during peak season. Check the weekly flyers in your area.
  16. I watched Kastking's live feed on the new braid (I was trying to win a spool) They said the Kastpro braid joins their lineup of fishing lines. So hopefully Superpower braid is here to stay. Kastpro is about $4 more a spool then Superpower but on the Brightside it's made in the USA
  17. Saw the new Tatula spinning reel in my BPS catalog. Beautiful looking reel.
  18. IN 2017 I fished NY (home state) and PA
  19. When I visited PA on vacation last year I purchased a Trout stamp. I was advised by the individual at the tackle store where I was getting my license that it was required if there was a "chance" that I would catch one even if I was not targeting that species. He asked the name of the body of water I was fishing and when I named it he said "Yep there are Trout in there." I purchased the stamp and caught no Trout. Not complaining for two reasons, the cost of the stamp I hope is used to fund stocking the Trout for everyone. Second reason is if I didn't purchase the stamp I would have caught a Trout by accident and I would have gotten a ticket because that's how my luck ran in 2017
  20. I saw a vid where a guy loosened the two screws on either side of the magnets which seems to lift the strip. I found no need to do this as the brakes work fine as is. It is a very forgiving reel and great for those that are new to baitcasters. After buying this reel I went from someone who used a baitcaster every once in a while, to taking one with me every trip.
  21. And turtles. Saw a big old snapping turtle chowing down on a dead Bass once.
  22. Pats vs Eagles Rematch of 2004! Lets look at the facts. This is the Eagles third superbowl. They lost the first 2 they appeared in including one to the Pats 24-21. Therefore logic would say I should choose the Pats to win Superbowl 52 Logic be damned. I am going to say the Eagles will win. My pic, the Eagles. Final answer.
  23. Biggest Bass of 2017: 3 and a half pound LMB on a Yum Dinger 3 pound SMB on a Z-Man TRD
  24. Sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and his family.
  25. I have one of those cheap Pelican sit-in's and I love it. It is super lightweight at 38lbs and is pretty durable. I have dragged it up boat ramps and have had collisions with docks that have only scratched it. Tracks pretty good and it is fast. On sale you can get it for $220 at Dicks.
