  1. Channel Cats Slab Bluegill and Pumpkinseed Sunfish Perch Life is like a box of Ned rigs you never know what you're gonna get.
  2. Kastking Sharky II ($30) or for a bit more the Kastking Sharky III ($50)
  3. Breakfast with my wife and son. Quick hour and a half bank fishing session on the river. Caught Rock Bass and bedding Bluegills like the one above. Lunch with my in-laws. Dinner with my parents. It was a great day with the family and getting a little fishing time in as well. Truly blessed.
  4. Watch this. It should help you fix the issue.
  5. A container of Vita Coco, coconut water has more potassium than a banana. Kills two birds with one stone, hydration and potassium.
  6. Fenwick Eagle, Denali AttaX and Powell Nuisance. Great rods for their price points, especially the Fenwick.
  7. I do 50/50 on my kayak. Bank fishing this year has been 90/10 Spinning/BC as I have been fishing light lures.
  8. I was able to do some bank fishing on the Hudson River this Father's Day weekend. Water was low and the temps were hot. I saw some Bass cruising but no takers on soft plastics or crankbaits. I noticed the Bluegill were on beds all along the shore. I spent a few hours each day just walking and targeting bedded fish. The spawning colors were stunning.
  9. I had the same issue, one thunk and a short strike. My culprit turned out to be Perch. It is definitely some kind of panfish.
  10. Thanks. That's the answer as I was not keeping constant tension.
  11. I fish a lot of exposed hook lures (Crankbaits, Ned rigs, Tubes, wacky rigged stickbaits) While the hook up ratios are better the snag rate can be maddening. When I lose more than two in a day I know its time to switch to a weedless presentation. I like the Berkley Fusion wacky weedless hooks. They have a piece of fluorocarbon to cover the hook point rather than a wire. Less snags and I don't see a reduction in hook ups.
  12. Yes sir! I find the Z-man TRD Tubez are perfect for a drop shot. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Z-Man_TRD_Tubez_6pk/descpage-ZMTRDT.html
  13. I get it. I had the same issues. Like @BigAngus752 said stick with it and soon enough it will be second nature to you. I love it so much I would use a baitcaster all the time if I didn't do a lot of multi-species and finesse fishing where a spinning reel shines.
  14. I give you guys that back reel a lot of credit and respect. Anytime I have attempted it I got line underneath my spool somehow. Results are lost fish and having to take the reel apart to untangle everything.
  15. My wife noticed that every time we go to Walmart or any place they sell tackle I am always buying a lure or something fishing related. She asked me, "Are you ever going to stop buying fishing stuff?" I said, "Yes, when you bury me."
  16. You are looking in the wrong place. Watch your lure not your spool. When the lure hits the water that's when you stop the spool with your thumb. If a backlash is happening before the lure hits the water the spool tension and brakes are not set correctly for the weight of your lure.
  17. A good remedy for the cramps is to take a container of coconut water with you as well as water. A container of coconut water has 660mg of potassium compared to 422mg in one banana. I find the one container along with my ice water keep the cramps at bay.
  18. Took a quick morning fishing trip on Father's Day. Smallmouth Bass were gone at my local shore spots but the Bluegill were bedding. I used a Leland Trout Slayer jig dragged onto their beds to get them going. When they picked up the jig to remove it from the bed I set the hook and reeled them in.
  19. I can count on my one hand minus 4 fingers the times I used the reverse switch. I wouldn’t miss it.
  20. With global warming I am waiting on alligators to migrate to the northeast...
  21. I saw this on the news. So sorry for you loss and all involved. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the families of those involved in this senseless tragedy.
  22. Beautiful place. I was there once but had no fishing gear. You ought to check out Mike Iaconelli's Going Ike YouTube vid where he revisited Harlem Meer and caught a monster humpbacked Carp.
  23. If the Big Game gives you any issues some line conditioner (KVD line and lure, Reel Snot, etc.) will help. Awesome combo, those Cherrywood HD casting rods are unbeatable for the price.
  24. DSG has the LFS for $79 as well. They also have a 20% off one item online sale right now. This is a killer deal, hope it lasts till Sunday when I have some Father's day gift cards coming my way.
