  1. That's tough news to get. My thoughts and prayers are with you for a successful operation and speedy recovery.
  2. That's a great deal and cheaper than the $99 I paid last month. DSG had the Lew's LFS baitcaster, normally $99, on sale for $79, another 20% off that and I ordered one for $60
  3. Do we need anything else? Yes, I need a floating bait. I guess I could buy a floating lipless...
  4. On my baitcasters I use 12# Kastking Fluorokote. For Spinning gear I like 8# Kastking Fluorokote. It's a co-poly line coated with Fluorocarbon.
  5. Birthday gift Lew’s Mach Crush spinning combo from Dick’s since I wanted the exclusive to DSG colors. The black Winn Grips won’t get filthy like the blaze orange ones. I was able to take it out yesterday and break it in DSG also had a 20% off all online orders this weekend that included sale items. I was able to get a Lew’s LFS baitcaster, normally $100 on sale for $80 down to $60.
  6. The local river Smallies are not Fluke fans. The only way I catch them with fluke is as a trailer on a chatterbait.
  7. Thursday was cold (air temps high 30’s) and 10-15 MPH winds. Not a day I wanted to be out there but I love a good crankbait bite and it was on last week!
  8. Had some fun on vacation catching Fallfish on light tackle And Perch on crankbaits
  9. Had a staycation this week. Mother Nature is bi-polar this time of year around here. I had days of fishing in 3 layers to days fishing in a t-shirt. River Smallmouth fishing was tough as the water temps have really dropped. I was finally able to figure that the crankbait is what they wanted. Here are some of the better catches.
  10. Fantastic reel as well. I got one as well that has stood the test of time. Mine is from the year when the spool had the big circular cut outs,
  11. Thanks for sharing that story Tom. Hopefully the young at heart anglers on here will get the message to be careful out there. Like you I didn't want to admit my limits. My injuries were a big wake up call.
  12. Kastking Sharky III $55 with a 10% off coupon is hard to beat. I fished a Pflueger President for years and it is a great reel for the price. The Sharky III is a better bang for the buck. Sealed water tight drag and body plus a direct drive handle are just some of the features it has.
  13. That last part is no joke. I have fell twice this season trying to access areas to fish. My wife says it because I am fishing like a 16 year old boy. I injured my shoulder and ribs enough to keep me from being able to paddle a kayak for awhile. No more climbing on logs to fish for me.
  14. This season has been almost all bank fishing for me. Issues have kept me out of the boat and kayak this year. I forgot how much I enjoy it. It's so easy to throw 2-3 rods in my car, a small tackle bag and a short drive to be fishing. The small tackle bag contains a variety of lures for different presentations, top water, some kind of crank or swimming bait for mid depth and bottom fishing jigs. I generally stay in a spot for 20 minutes and then move on unless the bite is hot.
  15. Awesome Bass! Grats!
  16. I have reels, spinning and baitcasters from all the major brands that I have purchased over the years. Right now I find the rods and reels I fish with the most come from 2 brands, Lew's and Kastking. I love my Lew's baitcasters. The Tournament MB and the Mach 1 see most of the fishing action nowadays. Kastking Speed Demon and Assassin also see action. Spinning gear is mostly my Kastking Sharky 3 and my Lew's Mach 2. As far as rods go I like my Kastking Perigee 2, Calamus and my Lew's Mach 1 rods. My Denali AttaX and Zeynx see a lot of use as well.
  17. I do the same as well for the same reasons. I do the one drop, right, left and center every other trip.
  18. As I mentioned previously in this thread, Kastking often runs sales. If you click the Kastking link on the right side ---------> and underneath the Speed Demon advertisement click on the word fishing reels it brings up a menu of all their reels (Spinning and Casters) on that menu you will see a lot of reels have 10% off coupons and some have money off coupons, like the Assassin has a $15 off coupon available.
  19. Fall fishing at the canal and it was a great multi-species day. I was fishing with a light action Kastking Calamus rod paired with a Lew's Mach II size 100 reel. All these fish were caught with Berkley Atomic Tubes in Grasshopper color. Redbreast Sunfish Fallfish Rock Bass
  20. Ned on sunny days, cranks, flukes and jerkbaits on cloudy days.
  21. I go with the rattle. There is a difference in weight between the two. I like the heavier lure for the areas I fish.
  22. I get where you are coming from but not everyone feels that way. No way I am putting a red reel on a green rod or an orange reel on neon green rod, etc. When purchasing a rod, I think about what reel I am going to use with it and if colors clash it plays a part in my decision. They make the Ghost XL for the micro guide haters.
  23. This bag looks pretty sweet https://www.amazon.com/KastKing-Pond-Hopper-Sling-Tackle/dp/B07F2FL9W1
  24. Almost a year since you started this thread and still going strong. You are an inspiration.
