  1. I kind of forgot about this thread but in my experience the hookup ratio has been great with the owner treble replacement hooks. I have not lost a fish that was actually hooked. A few blow ups on the top waters that never connected but you expect that. And they are so easy to remove. I'm glad that I did it.
  2. Kayak 95% of the time, but have a couple spots I will hit from the bank with the wife.
  3. 5lbs, lol. That's a ~3lber. PS I saved hundreds by switching to Country Financial.
  4. Leaks don't just go away. Something is causing a buildup of pressure and overwhelming a gasket in the chain. It will happen again if left alone. Does the thermostat in that car have a jiggle valve? If not, drill a tiny hole in it (like 1/16") on the side that faces up (assuming it sits horizontally. If vertical it doesn't matter where the hole is). This will keep air buildup from causing any problems, and it won't let much through so the car will still warm up properly. Cars especially that modern should never overheat.
  5. Four pictures, one of which is is laying right on the shore and another held up ~15ft from the shore. I'm no bunny lover, I take pics of any fish I think is decent. But be reasonable. That fish was placed on the ground, and was out of the water for too long if you care about their survival. I also wasn't the one to bring that aspect up, just voiced my opinion.
  6. Any time you are having issues with overheating I would recommend turning your heater on FULL blast. If your car is overheating and you have cold air through the vents, your water pump is dead, not circulating anything. If you have heat, your thermostat is stuck, so you still get circulation through the heater core but that's it. Either repair is fairly simple and (especially the thermostat) cheap before anything else gets ruined. Don't keep driving it though. A head gasket or warped head is not going to be cheap.
  7. Just buy a scale. I weigh anything I think is at least ~3lbs and sometimes it is pretty surprising. I would guess that fish at 3lb10oz. I would also guess that after being out of the water for four pictures and laid on the ground that it died.
  8. I like a mister twister single tail grub pushed all the way up on the shank so it kicks out a bit. I also tie direct since these spoons don't wobble enough to spin when fished correctly. They can be fished pretty slow and still wobble like they are meant to. I don't use them a lot, but when the weeds are thick and they won't hit topwater the Johnson spoon can save the day.
  9. Talking about surprise teams, how about Buffalo and the LA Rams. Both of them look really good, with some good wins (especially Buffalo). I was definitely wrong about the Patriots being so great, I didn't see their defense being this bad. GB really messed up not landing a real RB like Latavius Murray or AP. Montgomery is hurt already and will never last a season. People talk about Indy wasting Andrew Luck, but GB is sorta doing the same thing to Rodgers.
  10. Happy to see that thread finally locked down and the questionable posts deleted. Renews my faith in this forum. Thank you to the BR mod team. This really is THE top notch internet resource for bass fishing without question.
  11. He may be 40 but he's only ever lost one season to injury and on a fluke hit. The guy is like a DUI driver walking away from a flaming wreck. He goes limp noodle every time he gets hit, and it's not accidental he counts on getting hit and knows how to react to it. Plus it's not like Garoppolo was bad when he played last year. Also a weak division and likely a high playoff seed. Their odds are hard to discount. Steelers are so loaded offensively it's ridiculous but Ben is not great on the road. They lose too many games that they shouldn't, he takes too many hits on his legs (and their backups are awful). I predict they go into the playoffs with a a 3 seed, lower seed than they probably should but Oakland will beat them out for the #2. But if Ben, Bell, and Brown (Bryant as well) are all there they would be very tough to beat. Seattle just nabbed another top flight defensive player for this year. If all he does is put a choker leash on Bennett to keep him from jumping off-sides every third play he will already improve that defense. Really though, if they stay healthy they are going to be really good. I personally think Lacy will be a bust, another overrated SEC/Alabama player but both Rawls and Procice are good enough to produce a decent running game. Seattle has the easiest division in the NFL without a doubt so playoffs are a given it's about staying healthy.
  12. Even without Edelman it's hard to see how the Pat's don't own the AFC this year barring more catastrophic injuries. For the NFC Atlanta should be just as strong as last year. Seattle could show some spunk with Wilson's new fitness regiment and a healthy defense. Green Bay is still missing a real running back, and I'm not sold on Dallas backing up last year. I'm sorry, was there any other team in the AFC that could challenge NE or are we giving them a free pass to the Super Bowl? I don't see a challenge honestly. NE to the Super Bowl against ATL or SEA and I give the edge to NE either way.
  13. Yes, I was referring to those single post obviously fake reviews in the thread I linked to. Multiple people pointed it out and yet those posts still remain. BTW might be an old thread from months ago but none of those accounts have ever posted again. It very well might be a great product, but I'm turned off by the shenanigans so won't be considering it. Thankfully there are plenty of other options available.
  14. Sadly I don't think that $25 is going to buy you the same quality as it did 18 years ago. I used to love cheap reels myself, but I think its worth stepping up into at least the next tier with today's offerings.
  15. A sturgeon on a $25 reel? Wow. You did say backup so assuming this is you lost your good one in the river and need something to use.......Dick's usually has their Okuma's on a good sale. I would use one of those before an entry level Shakespeare or Quantum. Although looking at Cabela's they have Pflugear President's for way less than I've ever seen them, a 35 size for $40 you can't beat that.
