  1. Thanks Glenn! Learned so much from you and the videos already. Kudos and gratitude to you!
  2. I think Cabela's brand rods are really good. I fished a whole season on Lake Erie in 2017 with a Prodigy Walleye 2-piece, 7'0", Medium, Fast tip, and it took everything the lake could dish out. It feels similar to a Fenwick Elite Tech or St. Croix Premier. I used a Cabela's Arachnid spinning reel (which is a Daiwa, the D logo is in the handle) on it, and 10+ pound Sheephead and similar Catfish were handled with ease while being super sensitive and feeling those light Walleye bites I was looking for. The quality of both the rod and reel have caused me to add another Arachnid reel and a Cabela's Fish Eagle, MH, spinning rod to my arsenal and I'm watching for a similar casting rod in a 2-piece to go on sale. Cabela's rods will always get a look from me if I'm in the market in the future, assuming the merger with Bass Pro Shops doesn't cause any quality control issues.
  3. Hi ALL! Love the site and the members' passion! Grew up fishing farm ponds in Southeast Ohio and for a week every year, Lake Erie. Taught by Gramps, I grew up loving it. After college I lived in Los Angeles for years and my fishing only consisted of one or two charters per year when I'd visit the folks at their Lake Erie cottage. Met and married a Michigan girl out in Cali and we ended up moving to metro Detroit when opportunities knocked. Now we have an old Sportcraft Fisherman on Lake Erie and I get to fish for Smallmouth, Walleye, Largemouth and Perch ....and I've caught the BUG! Been a lurker here for a while... Decided to dive in. Love Bass Resource. Cheers!
  4. Could be about market share. Assuming SK and Lew's are profitable. Lew's as a stand alone private company might not be able to simply decide to launch a lure/bait/tackle brand and grow it into a market force, at least not in a timely way, but now they are owned by a venture capital firm. The venture capital firm may have said to the Lew's management..."what can we do about market share to get into more aspects of the fishing market?" And compared to launching a "Lew's Baits" division, went out and bought themselves a bait/lure/tackle brand and with it, they are suddenly occupying a greater share of the market. The relationship will certainly bring professionals and "big names" into the Lew's fold, quickly. The portfolio now has greater share...and faster. Like when a Japanese golf ball brand bought a big American golf club brand rather than trying to create demand for a new lineup of their own irons and whatnot.
  5. Good point! Thanks. ...under $150 would be ideal.
  6. Hi all, I like spinning combos and use them most of the time, though I have a few baitcasters too. I am soliciting recommendations for a 6'6"-7'4" MEDIUM-HEAVY, FAST TIP, SPINNING rod that comes in 2 pieces. I found a 1-piece, MED-HVY spinning "Jig & Worm" rod I really like and would love to find one that is similar in a 2-piece version to make travel easier. ANY SUGGESTIONS? Thanks in advance!!
