  1. Hey ya'll! I was just wondering how I could find fish when I'm fishing from my boy, or more or less where I should be fishing. I have a small job boat and can't really troll so I was wondering what spots I should look for to stop and how long I should spend at a spot. The lakes I fish have cover hanging in the water everywhere and it's not resonance to fish them all on a small trolling motor and stopping all the time and dropping anchor. So what should I look for? Also I know it doesn't apply as much this time of year but does anyone have tips on fishing deep without a depth finder? Thanks in advance!
  2. Big bone, aj jolly, camp Ernst, a bunch of neighbor hood ponds. I have a d**n john boat with a trolling motor. But I think after trying to make a list the problem is that I just need to try more places. So this comment proved to be helpful lol.
  3. I live in Florence. I live in Florence
  4. To start thank you for reading and sorry if this is in the wrong forum. Okay so I'm really trying to get into bass fishing but I have colaught one good bass and a ton of little ones, which is fine I just like doing it. But my problem is that I literally have only caught bass in one pond. I've tried local lakes from the shore and with my job boat but I never catch anything and never see anyone else fish for or catch bass. I'm almost convinced they arnt around here. So if there is anyone in the area that could offer advice or some places to try that would be great. I've been to a lot of locations multiple times for 8 hour days and have yet to catch a bass outside of one pond. Thank you all.
  5. Thank you for all the help and none of the baits feel the same as a real senko but I like the field and stream brand stick baits. I think I'll just buy senkos to fill a box then just keep those for tournaments when I get my boat together and then get a box of the 2 dollar ones that are my second favorite.
  6. I've been fishing with senkos a lot lately and really am loving them and my favorite rig so far is weightless Texas rig. This is about my senkos but applies to any Texas rig. When you skin hook the bait for a seedless set up, pretty much after the first bite the hook rips through and I can't get it back into the now roped bait. I might be doing something wrong but how can I make these baits last longer because a pack of senkos are decently expensive and my favorite color of anything around here is chartreuse and I have to drive an hour to buy chartreuse senkos, Thank ya'll for the help!
  7. I've been bass fishing for a little while now and have got decent at doing it. Up to this point I have been using spinner reels only because it it what I was used to and I could cast super accurate, however I just bought a baitcasting setup and can now cast it fine but I encounter two problems. 1. Casting it not just far but accurate 2. Casting light baits (weightless top ribbit frogs or senkos) the accuracy thing may just take me practicing some more but I figured I'd ask for advice. Thank our for your help!
  8. Okay so I know the bait you're using is really important but my question is how do you know which bait to use if they are similar. In my arsenal of baits I have a lot of different soft plastics and when I'm trying to fish slowly on the bottom I normally go off of color but does the bait actually matter? Like if I am throwing a texas rig what is going to decide whether I tie up a craw or ribbon tail. And when I do fish slow What is the difference of fishing a fitness worm, jig, or any slow moving bait, if the color matches and sizes is it just personal opinion or is there better times to throw a craw over a worm and so on?
  9. I am looking for a cheap rod and i mean like 50 dollars ish. I received a free reel and it is the best reel I've ever owned actually and I want to throw it on a 7ft heavy action bait casting rod, unfortunately I can't afford much ( 50 dollars is a maybe but we will see) so I was wonder if anyone knows any place to get rods cheap. I know it probably will not be good quality but i have to deal with what I can get. Thank you in advance!
  10. Thanks and as of right now I want to just compete to get my feet wet and learn. I understand bass fishing is a tough sport and hard to finish in the money consistently so for now I'm avoiding any super serious tournaments and just want to try to learn locally and try to win around here and slowly move out, if that makes sense.
  11. When I fish a senko I let it fall on slack and let it sit on slack. also once or twice have notice the line move but most of the time i don't. So is that bad technique or am I just blind and need more practice ? I just had to say thats an absolute chunk in you profile picture. is it you pb lol?
  12. I live in Kentucky and the limits here is 6 per day with a 12" minimum - on a side note how do you individually reply to comments. Also thank you everyone.
  13. I personally love throwing a senko, they are baits that never fail to produce fish weather they are big or small. My only problem is that I have to through them on a spinning set up because I NEVER feel a bite of any sort, so all the fish i catch are from pretty much accidentally setting the hook when popping it off the bottom. Any tips on feeling the bits so I can throw it on a bait casting set up? I throw the the senko on multiple rigs, but mostly a weightless texas rig ( 5" senko and 5/0 hook) - also i use a medium action rod with 12 lb flurocarbon Thanks ya'll
  14. To be clear I just want to do it lacally for fun and practice I love competitive sports. I don't have intentions of trying to go pro, but it ever happen id take it lol. Thanks for the advice.
  15. So I've been fishing most of my life but mostly for fun and for catfish. In the last year or so I have started bass fishing and I love it! so not that I feel like I have gotten some basics down and am becoming more and more successful doing it i want to start watching and following pro tournaments and then try to compete in some myself. So how would I go about starting to watch them and follow whats going on. Like I don't know if there is one league like football or really anything. So a place to start would be helpful.
  16. So I was fishing today with my booyah pad crasher in sun burnt color and I lost it and need to replace it. So I'm looking at one of three brands, another booyah pad crasher (did well before but on a lot of bites it seemed like the fish didn't commit), the strike King KVD frog, or a live target frog. Any advice and opinions?
  17. What kind of bait would you recommend finding the ledges? like a jig or a soft plastic with some weight on the head?
  18. I need some help locating ledges in lakes when you don't have a depth finder. I fish out of a jon boat and do not have the money for a depth finder at the moment. Any tips on finding them to catch deep summer bass?
  19. Thank you I do have an anchor and when j throw it down I just do circles around it but getting a couple would make sense but It would have never crossed my mind. Thanks brother!
  20. I'm 19 and been fishing most of my life but am now wanting to get into specifically bass fishing. I have a 12 ft Jon boat and have been trying to fish with a 35 lb trust minn Kota trolling motor. My problem is even on the lowest Speed I'm going too fast to fish the shore line really and I am constantly adjusting the motor direction so I can't even get a complete cast in. One last thing if I turn off the motor the wind or something just spins my boat around and pushes me to the bank pretty fast. Any tips or something on how to fix this.
