  2. Welcome!
  3. I believe I caught up on messages, if you did not receive address please let me know. Cant say thanks enough!
  4. Our area is more of a tidal river fishery. Plastics, soinnerbaits, buzzbaits, jigs, topwater, cranks. Panfish tackle... anything is greatly appreciated. I plan to purchase a couple academy tackle bags as well. Thanks
  5. Thanks guys, greatly appreciated. If interested in donating, please post and I’ll send address via private message. And if anyone wants me to cover shipping then I’m more than happy to. Again, thanks!
  6. Bassresource, hopefully this is the appropriate place to post what your about to read. I’ll be the first to admit my lack of interaction on this great site. I read much more than type, and have learned Aton from you all. I live on the coast of North Carolina which many may know was strongly impacted by hurricane Florence. Many co-workers of mine were heavily impacted by the storm and lost everything including their houses. A partner of mine in the Law Enforcement field was amongst those impacted losing almost everything. He had a house on the river which experienced record river floods of approximately 24 feet. Needless to say, he was flooded out big time. It hit me a few days ago when I invited him to fish. He reminded me that he lost all his tackle and rods during the storm. Of course I’ve got plenty of gear and told him that’s the last thing to worry about. We went and had a blast and the fish were chewing to boot. I got to thinking and come up with the idea of fixing him up a tackle bag and a rod and reel. I’ve got a St. Croix rod that I plan to give him along with some other tackle. An an additional Co-worker also came to mind who was impacted probably the worst of any and deemed a total loss. I thought I would reach out and see if anyone is interested in donating any fishing related items to get these two guys up and back on the water. I know these guys very well and can already see them smile ear to ear. I can handle this myself if there is no interest in participating but thought I would throw it out there. If anyone however is interested, I will assure ALL donations will go to these two guys and photos will be taken for documentation and of course posted on here. Mods... I certainly hope this is not breaking any forum rules and if this topic needs to be moved please let me know. Thanks in advance!
  7. I’ve tried and tried to figure out a solid solution to this exact issue and have failed. I think I have finally come to the realization that you can actually have too much tackle. I fish for multiple species as i live on the coast. Both inshore (reds, trout, flounder) and offshore blue water fishing. And then bass fishing. I have every bit of 75+ Plano boxes, over 60 rods, 16+ feet of pegboard loaded with plastic. Boxes upon boxes of brand new unopened hardbaits. It’s sickening and a true addiction. trying to manage this amount of stuff may not seem hard but it starts to take the fun out of tinkering with tackle when it takes you 20 minutes to find a jig box you know you have. So any of you who have Piles of organized tackle post pics of your garage and how you people manage it. Ive almost got to the point of wanting to go buy a small tackle bag, pick out the basics and confidence baits, and be done with the rest of it. Too many years of collecting, and I’m not even 30 yet!
  8. Bad idea looking at his stuff... going to cost me some money. Some sweet looking stuff on there!
  9. I have a saltwater minn Kota 80lb rip tide co-pilot trolling motor. The past week I've experienced being on the water and turn it on and works fine for 2-3 minutes. I'll stop to fish... hit the remote to move and it does nothing. Won't turn or go however the power light is on and still getting power to the motor. I checked every cable/ connection and found very little corrosion. Scrubbed the connectors with wire brush. I stripped the wire at the main plug and re-connected it. Turned it on in the yard several times... about 5 minutes later I hit the forward switch and again nothing. I get 26 volts at the main plug in switch on the bow. Had the local tackle shop take a look at the motor and he seemed to think it had to be a bad connection on the boat versus trolling motor. I fish the salt a lot and having a hard time getting the propeller off due to corrosion. There is a possiblity that there may be weeds, braid, mono, etc behind the propeller. Could this cause the motor to run hot and turn off like that? Not sure where to go from here... any advise is greatly appreciated.
  10. It's a flying gaff hook... used To gaff tuna, marlin, etc.
  11. Sorry I cant help you much on the drop shot terminal however if you don't mind sharing what baits you've had good success with doing this technique for specs. I live in NC and Specs are probably my favorite fish to chase. Never even thought about drop shottin them. Interested in hearing the replies on this one. Thanks
  12. Denture cleaner tablets... buy a box full at Wally World for a few dollars. Let lures soak a few hours in a bucket, then take a tooth brush to them and you should be good to go. I fish saltwater 90% of the time so I deal with rust quite often. This works pretty good.
  13. Older rogues, SK 5 XD, and 128 pointer.
  14. I know this topic has been discussed in the past like much others, however looking for some organization tactics reference organizing hard baits. Number one problem I admit to is having WAY too much tackle. It's honestly getting to the point where its overwhelming. I may be answering my own question by admitting that I may need to keep it simple and cull some stuff. Question is... how do you all organize your stuff that you have multiples of? I am mainly speaking of hard baits. I have several boxes listed for depth size, model, ect, however I have several boxes of each...and peg boards full of spares. I am finding myself having boxes for particular baits/models due to the excessive amount. For example I have boxes full of x-raps, bomber long a's, several top water boxes. I don't need to take 8 jerkbait boxes on one trip. I have thought about creating "day boxes" and packing the boxes I will need for whatever it is that I am doing before hand and limit myself to say 6 boxes. For you all that have an excessive amount of tackle, how are you storing it to keep it organized? From the tackle room to the boat...please share. Feel free to provide photos of your set up. Thanks
  15. Told myself last week that I was done buying. Now I'm expecting 4 different boxes full of tackle any day now at my front door. It's an addiction...but it could always be much worse. I enjoy playing with tackle just as much as the catching. Ebay does not help the problem and all these new lures popping up in the stores this time of year makes it almost impossible to say no.
  16. Have a garage full of it... And actually thinking about getting it insured as mentioned above. Buying tackle and planning trips is almost as fun as the fishing and catching. Am I addicted? Yeah... But It's something I really enjoy. I got into collecting vintage tackle a couple years ago and that can be very expensive. I do go through phases where I attempt to scale down. Then not long after I find myself loading up again. Im bad about it when I catch fish on a new bait. I feel the need to purchase multiples in every color, size, ect. Then as we all know, the next trip will be a different bait. So yeah... I've got it bad too.
  17. Struggled trying to find some rusty baits which is a good thing! I will try to put something together soon and provide pics.
  18. I have experienced a few fall outs. Never on camera though lol that was great. Trolling motor bumped a log in a local lake and went right over the bow on a cold February morning. Worst one was when I was duck hunting in a beaver swamp....birds were locked up over the deeks and my buddy got a bit excited. We were in a 10' jon boat and got about two shots off before we were both in water approximately 8' deep. Lost cell phones, gear, and almost lost our guns. It took forever to get the boat back afloat. Thankfully it was a fairly warm winter morning in the south. Good times...
  19. Great read and Congrats to Bill!
  20. That's a sweet pad. That shop is unreal... Congrats.
  21. Spooks are easy to use and are productive walking baits. A Rebel Pop R is a simple popper to use. A lot of folks lose confidence too quickly in top water fishing. There's s time in place they perform better than others but you've got to keep it tied on to catch fish. Build your top water confidence on either these or other listed easy to use plugs and go from there.
  22. Crocs and a slick deck can be a issue.. I've experienced it first hand. That being said I go barefooted half the time which isn't any better. A closed toe shoe is obviously safer and Sperry makes several models that are quite popular around here. Although if you get them wet...your feet will never smell the same.
  23. Spent right much time in the Banks chasing fins and feathers. It's a very special place. Enjoy the fisherie... It's a darn good one.
  24. I believe we have all experienced trouble with rust in some way, shape, or form. As mentioned above, placing wet lures in boxes only traps moisture which causes issues. What I do is keep an empty Plano on the boat and place lures I've used on that outing in same. When I get back as I am washing my rods down I simply spray the lures off and hang them to dry. I personally bought several flambeau rust protectant boxes and I'm not very impressed in the quality of the boxes. I prefer the water tight Plano latch boxes which have a tight seal around it. Every winter I still will have a handful of rusty baits. It's going to happen. I use denture cleaning tablets and let the lures soak overnight. Replace hooks and split rings and they look new. Good luck
