  1. WOW! That was fruitful! I watched the video Glenn put together about this rig and got the Z-Man stuff to rig this up and gave it a go. There's a pond I frequent that's been really tough this summer. So I went out early morning and tried out the ned rig for an hour and hooked up two (more than my usual in this pond, even when I texas rigged curly tails). I had to go back in the evening and they just couldn't resist, I think this is my new confidence bait. There were 3 other people fishing in the pond and they had been there longer than I had and hadn't caught anything, while I was just reeling them in. This is the most I've caught in this pond since I started fishing 3 months ago. I used a medium light spinning rod with 10lb test mono with a palomar knot. I don't have a scale so I don't know how much they weighed. Here are some pictures of some of the catch, what do you guys estimate they weighed?
  2. Welcome! As a newbie myself, I wouldn't start your dad off with a baitcaster. Unless you've got the affinity to go fishing, you're simply not going to practice learning how to cast your baitcaster and nothing is more frustrating than being out on your first time fishing and you're spending more time fixing birds nests than fishing (speaking from experience). Let's all be honest, no first timer ever gets bait casters right on their first use. So I would highly suggest for your dad, if you want him to enjoy himself and not be frustrated is to start with a spinning reel.
  3. Welcome! I'm fairly new to fishing and so far I've seen several people here mentioned getting skunked. I'm guessing that not literal right? I'm assuming that means no catches?
  4. Welcome! There is a weight of information in here.
  5. Thanks for the links Glenn. I think I'm going to try this one next. Been fishing curly tail works wacky or texas because of warmer waters and I'm thinking of trying this guy. I primarily bank fish so hopefully this rig will prove to be fruitful
  6. Yea. I just moved here about 4years ago and according to some of my friends here, you probably won't recognize it. It's pretty developed here now. It's grown.
  7. Welcome! I'd love to catch a big bass one of these days. I'm fairly new so (without a scale) I think my best might be around 2lbs maybe?
  8. Hi!! Totally new to the whole entire bass fishing scene and I'm completely hooked!! Started up on it about 2 months ago when a friend of mine took me bank fishing at a lake for sand bass. He and I sometimes hit up ponds to target some LMB. He's really taught me a lot about bass fishing. Now I'm constantly trying to get my fish on as much as possible. I even try to sneak in early morning fishing before going to work. Here's one I caught early this morning on a wacky rigged worm. I've been following and learning quite a bit from Glenn's videos on YouTube and finally decided to jump on here after hearing him suggest to come here. I don't own or have access to a boat so I primarily bank fish. Mostly in ponds and hit up the lake for sand bass.
